  1. For me if he decides he wants back in then Im happy for him to be. His first couple of years showed that he would put his money in when he is interested. It wasnt just the money, things like the refurb of the pub, ACORNS sponsorship and the manner with which we did business were areas of pride for a lot of fans. With the new TV deal and the out going wages we are certainly in a better position to spend and with Fox and Reilly we will surely do it better than the first time round. He is a known quantity (seen as a limited one) and one of his major complaints is not having football people at the club. Which looks to have been rectified in Fox so maybe he has learnt from his mistakes. Chinese billionaire it is, The king is dead, long live the king!!!
  2. If Benteke, Vlaar, Sinclair and Cleverley sign this summer we would have had a great summer but that would only leave us standing still. Big rebuild job needed at villa if we are to improve. our injuries this season have highlighted how thin we are regardless of the bad luck timing. Those 4 signing contracts, Bamford/Ings, Mings, Hughes, return of Gardner and Robinson would leave us with a fairly healthy squad.
  3. Dunno Tim has been telling everyone he's great for over a year
  4. The problem we have with the lack of money we have had to spend it's hard to pick up gems. If we had signed some of the players we'd wanted such as Clyne and Cresswell we'd start getting a reputation for building talent again. The Milner, Downing, Barry and Young money should have gone on the next generation. Porto, Dortmund and Atletico have built great teams from reinvestment. Spurs **** up their chance but they are minted anyway. Benteke was hardly an unknown to scouts just judged a gamble and we took it as we had £7 mill. whatever he might be worth now we were able to get him at that price then and plenty of strikers who we'd love to have Falcao, Jackson Martinez, Lewandoswki, Bony, Manzukic have gone for similar prices at points in their career. There will be a point when we hVe to move on from Benteke (hopefully at 35 when he's won everything with us) and we will have to scout well and perhaps take a punt. The development of Delph, Benteke, Grealish, Okore (hopefully) Baker, Clark, Westwood should be an indication of what we can do for a player before moving on to greener grass. I'd love us to sign Bamford if we have to let Benteke go.
  5. Just watching the highlights of the match, Cleverely looked like he enjoyed our second goal more than anyone. I want Tom here and I think if someone does offer better money than we do he will seriously think about how Sherwoods arrival has coincided with a return to form. Coupled with a very English core to the side and regular game time.
  6. Clark and Baker are now Premier League players and I think they will get better over the next few seasons. They compliment each other very well. Power and a bit of finess in Clark and Power and Beard in Baker.
  7. I wouldnt have, I was in a ball of misery and ineptitude. No smiles to be seen when it came to Villa. Todays performances was one of the best performances ive seen from Villa since battering Bolton 5-1 and all credit goes to the manager.
  8. "10 is the highest rating and should be used with caution." Screw you voting system we are in the Final. Anybody been on RAWK?
  9. Well technically he's stepped down a level
  10. Will be a massive kick in the nuts if he goes to Bayern followed by Reus. Id like to think that hes just made the decision and he has a loyal relationship with Dortmund and dosnt know whats next but in reality hes got an agreement with someone most likely Man City. West Ham and Newcastle fans will no doubt be deluding themselves with the potential appointment.
  11. This needs to be the next phrase that gets filtered. Please. For the love of God. Cheeky filter
  12. I like to get carried away as much as the next guy and thats all ill say on the matter
  13. never mind Chewie never had the minerals
  14. Agreed Hull are in free fall and QPR and Sunderland are full of players who don't give a shit about the club. Leicester and Burnley have some fight about them like they want to earn their place in the division rather than feeling owed. I like Dyche and would think he'd be a shoe in for Manager of the year if they stay up, hopefully not at our expense on the last day.
  15. Liking how this thread has now moved towards talking about other getting relegated, we are not safe yet and the few games after the West brom wins showed how fragile our belief is as a fan base. We are now 6 points clear with 2 teams inbetween us and the relegation zone. With most of the teams having a tougher run in one more win should do it I think we will beat both Westham and Everton.
  16. sounds like your offering to do it.......
  17. Either John Oshea is done as a professional player or he has money on Sunderland to go down. Letting two balls bounce today which led to goals and then half arsing tackles and running in slow motion which led to another one.
  18. Didn't he play a good pass to Bacuna just before the goal? He can pass it reasonably o.k imo....the problem is there's always a few occasions a game when his spatial awareness disappears and he just dosen't realise there's an opposition player 5 yards away and just gives them the ball. Nope was Cleverley that gave Bacuna the ball. The memory that sticks out is him being high up the pitch on the right side with lots of options and he did a flick into one of our players chests from about 6 yards. But like I said I appreciate what he does do well and what effect it has on the team, hes not Makelele but he does give freedom to others.
  19. Looks like another season that his goals will save us. Sadly I think this is his last. Love watching this guy play not just for his goals and quality but the close ups that show he really wants it. Bang on form at the moment and a pleasure to watch.
