  1. I don't think he would be ready to start for Chelsea next season, if we go up I can see him coming back for our first season in the Premier League which would be a massive boost. Past that I can't see Chelsea letting him go, and not for the money we would be prepared to play. Brilliant striker and is almost a mix of Kodja, Hogan and Davis.
  2. Is there any danger of United recalling him in January. He's been very good since being moved to centre back.
  3. Best right back at the club, we improved massively when he came on yesterday. Would start him there next game with Hutton at left back.
  4. Also it has to be said that our fans were unbelievable yesterday, it almost felt like a home game. By far the loudest i've heard the away end in a number of years.
  5. Just got back from the game, what a performance today. That's the best i've seen Villa play in years. We tore a good Derby team to pieces in the second half. McGinn was a monster in midfield, Tuanzebe was immense at the back. I don't know if Taylor went off injured at half time but I have to say we were better without him (and I have been championing his recent performances). We looked better with Elmo at right back as the majority of play went down his side but Hutton looked assured as always on the left. Kodjia tried a bit too much and we looked better with Bolasie. As a team we were brilliant and we can play any team in the league off the park with performances like that. UTV!
  6. I don't understand why we always have to have a scapegoat, Taylor is currently this... Let's be honest neither Taylor or Hutton are the best full backs playing the style of football we are currently trying to play. But for the time being Taylor is the best option as the only left back we have. I think we will win today, I can see Abraham having a good game up against Keogh. We will need a lot of energy in the middle of the park from Hourihane and McGinn.
  7. Taylor is the better left back, it's always better to have a left footed player in that position. He's been better than people have given him credit for so far this season, and the whole defence have definately improved since Smith has taken over. I think it would be a mistake to now change it, especially after a clean sheet last time out. For me the only changes to make from last week are in terms of wide players, Bolasie, Elmo, Kodjia or Adomah.
  8. Apart from QPR, they made Villa Park look like a 5 star service.
  9. Someone to ask the Prize Where It Lies contestants to kick the ball to the right of the circle instead of trying to swing the ball into the dugouts.
  10. When I buy something and the person serving me asks for my email address to send the receipt to. Just give me my receipt so I can leave, I don't want to stand there reciting my email address to receive an email I am just going to delete. Must be worse if you have an old email address...
  11. Agree with the above, I think in the second half of the season and certainly next season we will begin to see this. We currently don't have the full backs, or the DM to do this. GK CB CB RWB DM LWB CM CM CAM ST ST This would involve the DM working with the CM as a deep lying playmaker. The CM's pulling wide when needed. One of the strikers being in the Scott Hogan ilk with the other more of a physical presence Tammy, Kodjia, Davis.
  12. Exactly as it should be. Nobody supports a sports team to spend their life worrying about the financial predicaments of their club. I'm much more concerned with the football on the pitch.
  13. Hopefully he keeps up his good form this weekend.
  14. I agree with this. At the end of the first half on Friday Grealish started dropping deep, the way he was holding onto the ball and distributing it was brilliant. Unfortunately when he does this though we miss him in the attacking 3rd of the pitch. If we can get a player in who can do this for 90 minutes whilst still having Grealish at No 10 it would benefit the whole team.
  15. Unfortunately the logical option would have been to get in an experience goalkeeper who has played Premiership/Championship football for a number of years. In the same way that Wolves took Ruddy for their promotion season. At 28 Nyland is not going to improve as drastically as he needs to. Cutler can hopefully improve the way he takes crosses and free kicks, but this position needs looking at in January and I'm sure it's near the top of the list for Smith.
  16. Yeh looking back Nyland should probably have taken a 5 and McGinn a 7 ?
  17. I like the fact that by the end of the first half Grealish was dropping deep to pickup the ball and get us going, it's not where you want him. Halftime Smith clearly notes this and Hourihane plays the deep role allowing Grealish to play further up the pitch. Revolutionary.
  18. He's a maverick of a footballer and at times it works really well and at other times it doesn't work. On form he is one of the best strikers in the league, I don't really understand why we would sell him as people are saying... we have plenty of midfielders or fringe players to sell ahead of Kodjia. In my opinion he was good against Bolton, he's by no means the finished article as a winger but then I don't think any of our wingers are. Away from home I wouldn't play him on the wing, he doesn't track back enough. For those saying he's keeping Bolasie out of the team... Bolasie isn't fully fit, if he was he would be playing, simple.
  19. Thought Kodjia was really good last night, linked up well with Grealish and took on the full backs well. Final delivery isn't always the best but it's improving and at least he is trying it. Abraham should really have scored the chance Kodjia served him. Should really have been given the chance up top with half hour to go as Abraham was struggling. Looked like the Kodjia of old again last night.
  20. Surprised by some of the comments on here regarding last night's game. I thought at time we were brilliant, at other points we coasted along and let Bolton in. Overall though it was a comfortable win and we controlled the game very well, you can see the improvement already, the possession football we were struggling with in the last two games is now becoming easier to play. At time we struggle when the opposition press us back, we need to start learning when to play a long ball instead of messing around with it at the back for too long. Nyland - 6 - Still a worry, he is a great shot stopper, but a liability for crosses. He also keeps trying to save shots that are off target which is slightly strange. Hopefully we will see an improvement under Cutler. Hutton - 7 - A slow start but was great in the second half, some great challenges and got forward well. Would like to see him back on the left with Bree given a chance at RB. Taylor - 5 - Average at best, defended well but some of his passing was strange. Passing to players who are a couple of yards away and clearly being marked turned over the possesion numerous time. Tuanzebe - 8 - Immense again, really starting to show why the United fans raved about him. Mops up a lot at the back with his pace. Chester - 8 - Back to his best and looked a lot more comfortable tonight. Great clearance and did well for the goal. The partnership is slowly forming. Adomah - 6 - Slowly improving again, a constant threat on either wing but his final delivery lets us down at times. Better than anything else we have (bar an fit Bolasie) Kodjia - 7 - Brilliant tonight, not quite sure how people are saying he was awful. Finally passing the ball and played a few balls across the box where a year ago he would have taken on the shot. Some of the movement out wide to beat a man was a pleasure to watch. Tracked back very well at the end to end a rare Bolton attack. Hourihane - 6 - Started slowly but second half dropped into the anchor man role and ran the game for us. His passing range is a lot better from deep and it is something that we need to see going forward (at home at least). Proves that the Hourihane, McGinn, Grealish midfield can work. McGinn - 6 - Fairly subdued performance from him but didn't do much wrong. A couple of battling runs forward as we have been accustomed to. Grealish - 8 - Back to his best and clearly been told to get himself in and around the box, some of the link up play was excellent. Needs to push on now and bag a few more goals and assists. Abraham - 6 - Tough night for him against some monster CBs, dealt with it well bringing the ball down at times but his second touch let him down. Great ball through to Grealish for the goal. One of those nights for him and will be back to his best on Saturday I'm sure. Bolasie - 7 - Finally showed what he can do, a constant threat when he came on. Some of the stuff he was pulling out was ridiculous. When we can get him firing he will be frightening in this league. Hogan - Ran his socks off for 10 minutes but didn't see much of the ball bar a decent cross in. Personally would have liked to see him come on for Abraham at the 65/70 minute mark to get a bit longer. If we continue playing this style of football against teams I am sure he will come good.
  21. Kodjia poor? What game were you watching, he was immense last night.
  22. What age do you think it should be time to pack the Xbox/Playstation away? I'm 29 now, and it's probably becoming a little sad how much time I spend on the Xbox. I've gone from my mum telling me to get off the N64 for dinner, to my partner telling me to get off the Xbox One for dinner...
  23. Just had a youtube search of Sidwell and found this... How did we not win something with this squad?! It's quite ridiculous how far we have fallen since those days.
