  1. We are still on the verge of FFP trouble, splashing 25 million on Abraham is not going to happen unless we are promoted. The 7 million for Kalinic is most likely spread out over the next 2-3 years with clauses etc to ensure that we don't break FFP this season.
  2. If Grealish is out on Sunday and Smith doesn't want to gamble on O'Hare then Lansbury could be the key to beating Leeds. I said last season that a midfield of Hourihane and Lansbury could work, now having McGinn in there with his energy could really help this work.
  3. Almost as bad as them dubbing generic crowd noises whenever a song with a swear word in is sung in the stands. Completely ruins the atmosphere of a game when you are watching, happening over and over again as I'm watching Derby vs Forest tonight.

  5. I wanted to see O'Hare on Saturday, but then the game kicked off and after 5 minutes I realised that he would have been lost in that game. The conditions and the physicallity of the game would have been too much for him, much like it was for El Ghazi. Whelan had a solid game and I'm not usually an advocate of his. However in saying that we definately missed Grealish through the middle, a player that can hold onto the ball, slow a game down and carry it forward through the midfield. O'Hare has the potential to do this and if the conditions are better on Sunday I would take the gamble of playing him next to McGinn with Hourihane in behind (both will have to be on top of their game).
  6. Steven Davis is 33 years old, he's really not the type of player we need to be signing. May do a job this season but after that he becomes a liability and wages on the bench that we don't need. He also has very little re-sale value. We need to be getting away from these types of signings and bringing in young, hungry players the same way other clubs in this league are.
  7. Completely disagree, as @OutByEaster? said above we won the youth cup in 2002, we've won the Hong Kong 7's multiple times, won the PL Cup last season and lost in the playoff final. It's a credit to the coaches and management of the youth teams that we now have so many players on the verge of breaking into the first team, the fact they haven't yet played much is more to do with the management of the first team and the players available and bought during the recent seasons limiting the youth. We currently have Dominic Revan, Jake Doyle-Hayes, Jack Grealish, Calum O'Hare, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and Keinan Davis in and around the first team all brought through from the youth setup. That's a fantastic output!
  8. This, we need to beat Leeds and then have a winning run of 10+ games as Fulham did last season.
  9. I've said it before Hourihane is a lot better when he plays the deeper role and dictates the play. He has a great passing range and helps to break up the play, but box to box he goes missing. Whelan and Hourihane together doesn't work, but yesterday Whelan was the better of the two.
  10. He missed Grealish last night, Stoke doubled up on El Ghazi out wide and it limited his ability to beat the full back. Grealish takes so many players out of the game through the middle before pushing the ball out to Bolasie or El Ghazi leaving them in a one on one situation. I'm sure he will be back to his best against Leeds if Jack is back, but Kodjia now has a big shout. Great problem to have for Smith.
  11. I have a feeling Jack will be on the bench today, available should we need him.
  12. Agreed, he would be very good in Grealish's current role. Obviously we haven't seen him properly since his first season with us but we could do a lot worse than bringing him back in January and at least have him training under Smith, O'Kelly and Terry to see if there's anything there. The same goes for Tshibola and De Laet. Elphick and Steer will likely be surplus to requirements given the intent to sign replacements in the transfer window.
  13. Would rather move El Ghazi inside. Hourihane Adomah El Ghazi McGinn Bolasie Abraham
  14. Looks to be true from the rumours circulating on Twitter. This could end the promotion push
  15. Agreed, it's annoying and frustrating for the loyal fans that are there week in week out and the clubs response is basically that we will have to put up with it as it's of no benefit to them to improve it. If they were to improve the service they would have more people buying each week and a better matchday experience for fans who perhaps don't go week in week out.
  16. In terms of goalkeeper I would much prefer we signed a keeper in his 30's rather than a youngster again. What we need is a solid experienced (Premier League or Championship) goalkeeper on a two year contract, someone like Heaton would be perfect. We've tried the young goalkeeper route, it didn't work or when it did took time. Unfortunately we don't have time on our side this season.
  17. I think the current aim is top six, the overall goal for the season is top two.
  18. No need to create a new thread, but as you are interested I researched it for you Our heaviest defeat to Blues was 4-0 in Division Two in 1968. Our biggest win against Blues was 6-0 in the Simod Cup in 1988 or 5-0 in the League Cup in 1988, in League games we've beaten them by 4 goals on numerous occasions but the most goals we have scored was in 1894 in Division One when we beat them 7-3. Our heaviest defeat to Wolves is also 4-0, this happened on 3 occasions 1899, 1948 & 1958 all in Division One. Our biggest win against Wolves was 6-0 in 1905, Division One.
  19. Yeh I agree, physically he is our most imposing striker and isn't afraid to put a shift in to chase balls down.
  20. Bet he's gutted he went off and we didn't see the game through. Unfortunately we can't afford to rest him and his shins currently as he's pivotal in everything we do on the pitch. If he does need a weeks rest the O'Hare is the man to fill his boots for me, but McGinn and Hourihane will have to be on top form to hold the midfield together.
  21. We should have stuck with Elmo at right back in my opinion, Hutton gets caught out of position defensively too often putting pressure on the back 4 (as per the first goal) Going forward he is the better option, but when you have Bolasie or El Ghazi in front you don't need to be playing a wing back role.
  22. Need to get this lad signed up as soon as we can. If the funds allow it get him signed in January and spread the payments. If we don't go up we will need to keep hold of him next season, or potentially sell him on for a lot more money.
