The goal he scored is what Ollie does best. Finishing off chances supplied by the more creative players on the pitch. Him having to do it himself is where he gets in trouble. That just isn't part of his game. We have looked poor in number of games in the 2nd. Our energy levels drop and Ollie becomes our sole outlet. That just isn't what he is about. Definitely needs more technical players to play off of if we want to see him at his best.

I think that is what Steven is eventually building him up for. He's perfect for that role.

A number of us on here saw it. The moaners are usually just the loudest. Now the new worry will be the eventual transfer rumors if he scores a couple more like that this season.

Once Ramsey scored his worldie the outcome really wasn't in doubt. Couldn't ask for a more professional performance. Great team win!

I can't agree. Our lineup choice/tactical setup invited them into our box especially when we didn't try to change it up once the 2nd half onslaught began. Our only outlet was Watkins who was going 1v3 most of the 2nd half. Liverpool can be got at, we did it last year and they have been exposed by multiple sides this season. The way we went about it was never going to work. Live and learn for our new manager. Hopefully next time at home we actually give it a go.

All I've been waiting for since the season started. Would easily be the most creative Villa side this millennia.

You let a team camp out in your penalty box for 20 minutes you are going to give up a pen. If it wasn't Mings against Salah it would have been another one of our defenders versus their world class attack. Mings and the defensive line were excellent. Lineup and over play from midfielders and forwards left a lot to be desired. On to Norwich.

Ewwwwww that was an awful lineup selection. 4 defenders, 4 midfielders, a utility man and a striker. The only hope was a 0-0. Parking the bus away to Liverpool is always going to be a huge ask. If you are going to give up 20+ shots I would rather we at least go for it in the future.

I think that is the type of text Dean received. It sounds harsh but these managers have stipulations on how much they paid upon sacking. So yeah Dean lost his dream gig but I'm sure he got super nice severance on the way out.

Saw that. Hope it was a text to set up the meeting/call. Would be poor if they actually fired him over text. On the interview it doesn't look like their are any poor feelings. Seems like he has welcomed the change of scenery as well.

Crazy how a false narrative can take hold if some talking heads start spewing it. Was never a penalty shout, NEVER. His own players pushes Kasper in the back and then he clumsily falls all over Tyrone. Claimed everything in the air second half especially after Axel came on and we bunkered down for the last 15.

Did he? Let Barnes drift into acres of space then was slow to close down for the goal we conceded. Woke up and played much better after that but that is why the eye test is so flawed. Early mistakes get forgotten, especially if the player makes up for it later.

Installing a high press doesn't happen over night. You can see the press break down at times. Some large gaps open in our midfield when we don't press as a unit. Our slow start in general. Absolutely ace we are picking up points while going through the learning curve of installing a new system.

Douglas just isn't that quick. So he suffers a bit when asked to do the type of closing down McGinn/Ramsey/Buendia do with ease. Definitely tired in the 2nd half and was right to be subbed for Sanson.

I believe you because I did exactly the same . Had my GF at the time drive me to a game after an all nighter because I was worried I would be to tired to make the drive back. She slept through the entire 90 minutes and missed my game winning goal. Good times.

Can you point to a game where we have had a consistent 90 minute performance as a team. Seems like this could be said for anyone except for maybe McGinn.

2nd half he was all over Harvey. Kept him quiet whenever he received the ball near the touchline. Willing to deal with his aimless crossing if he puts in that level of effort every game.

What is even meant by this. Charles was one of the laziest players I have ever seen play for us. They have nothing in common.

Played well out of position. We are only talking about his miss because he was robbed by VAR on a goal that absolutely should have stood.

That save. Gets their so early he is able to just calmly palm it over the bar. Completely under control. Soon he is going to pull a one handed save where he pulls out it out the air Michael Jordan style. Unfair to be that tall and that quick. Unreal keeper.

For me Young is our starting LB going forward. If we are going to play this narrow we need boths our FBs to be capable of beating a man at times. Nothing against Targett but the requirements of our new system seem a step to far for him from an athletic perspective.
