  1. So true. We tested them but with our FBs so it was child's play. My patience for this setup is running real thin. Absolutely comical Cash gets the ball out wide and Newcastle can double up thanks to him being completely isolated. Either play wingers at the FB positions who can beat a man or let our wife forwards actually operate out wide where they can find space to operate. Liverpool doesn't even put this level of responsibility on TAA. Salah and a midfielder usually go out wide to support. Leaving Cash out there alone is going to drive me .
  2. Midfield 3 getting run over again. Sanson for McGinn please. He looks lost in this role.
  3. Play bailey at RB. All these chances falling to Cash are completely pointless.
  4. This system is useless unless you have world class FB. I'm over it.
  5. Why would be against loaning him to a PL club that's going to be in a relegation battle. He can't play against us and a stronger PNE means they are more likely to steal points off clubs competing for top 7 like us. I'm failing to see the downside.
  6. I picked up on it as well. Part of that will be if we can meet his salary demands. I'm hoping Barcelona are willing to offer us a much better deal on the transfer fee. We can then slide some of that over to cover Coutinho's salary.
  7. United was the better move, no doubt. Also, he was definitely willing to goto United. He was waiting for their offer after our first season in the PL. United decided to wait on Sancho so he signed the "my club, my city" deal with us.
  8. If Buendia misses out push Ramsey into the front 3 and give Sanson another go in midfield. For the other selection, don't over think it and go with Hause. Much better at dealing with the route 1 stuff that is sure to make an appearance at some point if Newcastle struggle to score.
  9. Love what Archer is doing right now but Watkins scored 26 at that level. If my memory serves correct Watkins scored a similar goal against us back during the Bruce days. Just a bit of perspective.
  10. Definitely agree but certain matchups benefit different setups. With Villa we aren't the most physical/athletic side so we struggle against all action teams like Southampton and Leeds. Same reason we struggled second half versus Everton.
  11. Don't count the fullbacks in Steven's system. Half the time they are beyond the striker, especially Digne. This isn't a criticism, I'm still on the fence personally, but you can't deny we are essentially playing wingers at the fullback positions right now. With this system only Ramsey out of our current 3 is really fit for it. McGinn doesn't have the defensive consistency and he is very loose with possession. Douglas doesn't have the athleticism needed to cover quick runs from wingers and forwards. If we are to persist with this system then we either need the above players to raise their game or we will need to seek replacements.
  12. Just to take that analysis a bit further Mings successfully bullied James off of the chance at the header but then Buendia comes barreling in pushing James into the flight of the ball. James is clueless to all of it. One second he is being pushed out of the play the next second he's being sent at light speed right into the ball flight. If anything you blame Buendia for the reckless challenge in an open goal but that would be beyond harsh. To prevent that goal you prevent the cross. As many on here have mentioned, the right side of our defense did nothing to stop the cross. They hung Mings out to dry, only those with an agenda will say otherwise.
  13. It really isn't though. We have the evidence right in front of us how we play when he is on the bench. It hasn't been good. Given that we just signed Hause to a long term deal I doubt the clubs plan is to bring in a 3rd LCB. I love when a player is underperforming the immediate reaction is to just replace him like Villa have a bottomless well of money to pull from. Last season we were something like 80% of wage to turnover and given our recruitment that # has only gotten worst. At some point when defense keeps putting in poor performances as a whole unit you have to start looking at the tactics and strategies we implement on the pitch.
  14. What saddens me is when our manager states that the team will always stand together you can tell he is talking about abuse from our own fans. If we are okay slinging abuse like that against our own player then maybe it is time for him to move on. If I'm tired of all the bleating everytime he miscontrols a ball then I know Mings is completely done with it.
  15. Those goals don't happen in isolation. We allowed 20+ shots on goal. Some of those shots deflect out for a corner. Oh look they scored off of one. The second goal, our inability to posses the ball even for one minute allowed Leeds to pin our entire team inside of our 18 yard box. A team that can possess the ball doesn't end up there or even a team that properly presses on loss of possession. We were just all over the shop shape wise. Fullbacks going on 50 yard runs with no midfield cover. Leeds played through our midfied like it wasn't there. Dean got done up the same way the first time he faced Bielsa in the PL so hopefully Steven took some notes down for their next encounter.
  16. That's why I didn't call out an individual. The midfield works as a unit. If Ramsey is making forward runs then someone needs to shift over and cover. It could be a lack of communication, desire, or just an unfamiliarity with the new system. Whatever it was, excluding that 15 minute period in the 1st half, they were second best all game.
  17. That's Steven's system at play. Midfield is supposed to provide cover. They did a poor job to say the least.
  18. Wish this imaginary version of McGinn had been on the line for 3rd. Would have been his one positive contribution to the game. Big ol no show from our midfield let Leeds send runners through all game. Besides our 15 minute period of dominance in the 1st half the defense was under it the entire game.
  19. Our quality got us the draw. Tactics not so much. Way to open, played right into Bielsa's hands. Still not a fan of this super narrow formation. How do you only have 39% possession when every player never leaves the center 3rd.
  20. If that's the case then it's not even paying for a player they don't want since he is registered to a completely different club now. They would essentially be paying a fine and recieve nothing in return.
  21. Jean-Kevin Augustin. Plays for Nantes now. Seems they had a penalty enforced against them but they didn't complete the purchase Jean-Kevin.
  22. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Keinan has bossed the championship before so his success during this recent loan isn't that surprising. Still doesn't score nearly enough to play in a single striker system. I will gladly revisit this comment if he hits double figures for Forest. Otherwise his level is somewhere below our aspiration and we should look to sell this summer.
  23. An off the boil Watkins is still going to end up with 10+ goals this season. Archer and Davis have a single PL goal between the 2. European spot is the goal next year. Crazy amount of expectation on those 2.
  24. Leeds got out of a loan with an "obligation" to buy not to long ago. So who knows how these deals work anymore. The media reports these complicated contracts in simplistic terms when really there can be all types of out clauses and what not inserted by the contracted parties.
