  1. Man when some on here make their mind up about a player they really dig in. All attacking verve vanished once he was subbed off. Pretty sure that wasn't a coincidence. Yes, he is wasteful at times but to generate the amount of chances he creates (most on the team) you are going to try stuff that doesn't always come off.
  2. Looked so much better once Young was able to get further up the pitch. At times we were crazy narrow when the fullbacks didn't push up. Having athletic fullbacks on boths sides of will be an absolute must going forward.
  3. Love your hustle Ollie but if you aren't going to bury a clear 1v1 please pass to your wide open teammate.
  4. Great team win. Everyone ran their a** off til the final whistle. UTV!!!
  5. I highly doubt it's Villa who is dragging their feet on the deal.
  6. Luiz was our best performer as a 6 for project restart and also was near the top for the first half of next season. He is a multi tooled midfielder who as he matures will be capable of covering all positions in the middle. Versatility is a positive, he has the skills to be both a 6 & an 8 given the opponent and formation the manager puts out.
  7. You're holding him to a standard that just isn't realistic. I still don't get why him wanting to represent his country is such a sore spot for you. Visit the Emi Martinez thread and there are pages extolling his exploits while representing Argentina. No doubt his ranking as the 6th keeper in the world is based partially on his accomplishments with his home country. Why is Martinez granted this grace but you use it as a cudgel for Buendia. Seems unfair and honestly not really logical. To your other point. I mentioned other far more expensive players because you think the fee we paid somehow justifies the level of performance he should be giving us early into the season. Him being our record signing of almost £40 million pounds says more about our status as a club than Buendia. In the PL it just isn't that much. It's definitely not a value that guarantees quality right out the gate. So a certain level of patience is required and if you aren't willing to grant that it just comes off as you holding an agenda.
  8. Buendia has 1G 1A. Sancho has one goal in league play. Lukaku -->3 goals. Grealish --> 1G 2A. All guys who cost 3 times as much as Buendia and have had slow starts to their season. 5 games to go to the half way point, 3 games into a new managerial appointment. Model pro, leaves everything on the pitch. If anyone deserves a little patience to come good it's this guy.
  9. Brave guy predicting that the team bottom of the league when Dean took over would be relegated by season end.
  10. Worried about the press from the front 3. Watkins is going to have to put in a massive shift for us there. With a bench this strong kinda wish we had the 5 sub rule. Helps keeps the press strong all 90.
  11. Can't go wrong buying quality. I would get it if we already had that position sorted. After Ings we don't have 5 senior league goals between our back up options. That's appalling for any club trying to break into Europe. We had to upgrade there.
  12. Feel for the little guy. Had to take off his fave Salah kit for a photo.
  13. Was literally everywhere. Great job of of keeping the ball on the ground as much as possible which was definitely an instruction from the manager. One thing slightly worries me though. He had a wayward pass while we were still scoreless. The announcer said Mings apologized to some fans after he cleared the ensuing attack. I really hope he isn't get abuse for mistakes like that. Playing out the back, those types of things happens. Look how many times Brighton's CBs turned it over. I know things were tense after 5 losses. I hope, now that we got a win, we can stay behind the players as they adapt to a new system.
  14. Great reverse jinx. This post worked a treat. Got a match next week. Make sure you post the same so we get another great performance out of our captain
  15. Amazing how fans expect players to react when getting subbed. Who is it disrespectful to? He's mad at himself. He's a fiery player under a lot of pressure. I guess you want him to bottle all that up and Kung Fu kick a fan next time he's on the pitch.
  16. People keep saying his little brother is better. Man that would be amazing for our future because Jacob already looks the part at a very young age.
  17. What a strike by Ollie. The high press will get better as the season goes on and this wasn't a bad start. Ramsey, McGinn, and Mings for MOTM don't make me decide.
  18. Ashley Young on as a winger. I screamed no but Steven didn't listen. That's why I'm on my couch and he is in the dugout. UTV!
  19. High press isn't working well and is going to take weeks to get right. Energy and confidence is back. Which is an improvement.
  20. As I stated in my post I don't think it was racism. Did you read it? Racism is a difficult topic to discuss. I'm black so it comes easy to me but I can see how others find it super tricky. You obviously don't have the ability to determine why someone holds the opinion they do. If racism exist, as you acknowledged, then it's fair to ask the question especially when an individual can't back up their claim. Asking the question is fine but lobbing accusations against a person is completely different. That's a line that shouldn't be crossed unless you know for certain and even then has to be handled with a bit of tact. Back on topic. Pretty much everytime the Mings attitude/ego stuff comes up it's never backed up with anything substantial. If people want to lob accusations at a player they should be ready to provide backing to their opinion. This is a discussion form, right?
  21. The ego accusation has never made any sense to me either. I have to admit, at first, I did think maybe race had something to do with it but any talk about ego seems to be solely aimed at Tyrone so I tossed that as the reason. Its to the point now when I see a post about his ego I just laugh and move on. I honestly think it may be a generational thing. Strikers and other attackers are supposed to play with an ego or swagger. Imagine if a striker scored a goal and didn't celebrate everyone would be on here wondering why. Centerbacks are supposed to be stoic and commanding. Any swagger or flamboyancy from that position is immediately seen as a negative since some see it as a sign of carelessness. That's the best I have for it. For me, modern day CBs have to be confident on the ball. If that comes with a little swagger so be it. I'd take that every time over a CB who hoofs it away to the opposition when encountering the slightest bit of danger.
  22. Which is probably why he started his career as a LB. His injuries and raw physical attributes eventually brought him to CB. Thankfully your mental skills usually continue to increase throughout your career. So we could actually still him see him improve on his positioning and focus.
  23. So happy Deano got his annual victory over Bruce. I would love it if Bruce got another appointment and Deano continued to own him match after match lol.
  24. Multiple people have now upgraded you on how the disruptions to our pre-season go far beyond a cancelled/rescheduled game. You for, whatever reason have chosen to ignore all of that information, and focus on a rescheduled game. Usually when you find yourself alone on one side of an argument you should probably stop talking and try listening. You have decided to keep digging and who am I to get in your way. Proceed .
  25. You asked if our pre-season was actually poor or just a false narrative. You get numerous replies pointing out the many ways our pre-season was less than ideal. Now your pivot is that professional players don't need a pre-season. Which is an even crazier statement. You seem out of your depth on this one maybe just sit this topic out.
