  1. It's called gaslighting and all skilled internet trolls learn it at a young age. Best to ignore find actual Villa fans to engage.
  2. Have you though? Has to be well past triple digits on the number of post on this topic.
  3. Second time palace has let in an equalizer at 90+5.
  4. Nakamba should have been enough. People were calling him to even start at times last season and this one. The whole point of a squad is to minimize risk like leaving Douglas on to long and then he is out for a month or more with a muscle injury. The players should have been able to hang on but one nice set play and 2 luck a** deflections put us under. Wolves used all their season luck in one 15 minute period.
  5. You would be good with a manager who leaves for the next thing smoking after one season or one whose best years are clearly past him?
  6. You say that but the chance for muscle injuries goes way up after a player reaches a certain level of fatigue. Given that they track numerous physical metrics of each player on the pitch I'm pretty sure that extra half hour was not as inconsequential as you are trying to make it out to be.
  7. Smith called it a dead leg and he had ice/wrap on the hamstring while he was on the bench. Don't remember the leg last season but it was a hamstring that kept him out of the last couple games. Could be a reoccurrence.
  8. I'm struggling to understand what you are asking for. So the point total isn't enough, it has to be done in a specific fashion as well. West Ham last season had a pretty middling campaign then sprang to life in the 2nd half. You going to slate Moyes for not delivering a consistent point total throughout the season.
  9. Couple of us are all saying the same thing. The 3-5-2 puts so much pressure on Cash to produce from an offensive standpoint. Probably why the reason he wasn't able to finish the Wolves game. It's a nice formation for a short run of games but we don't have the personnel for much more than that.
  10. I probably shouldn't have tossed both our fullbacks together. Cash has the ability and athleticism. He just needs more time at the position given his recent conversion. Targett will never be it though. He's only a fullback, nothing more. If we want to continue with this formation then we have to bring in an actual wingback on the left.
  11. I've banged this drum before but performance inconsistency is a huge trait of young players. We have the third youngest squad in the Prem. This is something that will occur from time to time and won't change unless we decide to radically alter our recruitment strategy. We have seen consistency from Dean before. In the championship we had a much older, more experienced squad and they churned out 10 wins in a row.
  12. Just did a rewatch. The amount of chances that fell to Cash was maddening. Just like in the previous games the gilt edge chances that fell to Targett. I love our fullbacks defensive qualities but neither of them is wingback and each game we play with the 3-5-2 it becomes more obvious. The sooner we get our wingers healthy and switch to a back 4 the better.
  13. A contingent of Villa fans on here and in social media were adamant over the summer that Luiz was holding us back. Now he is one one of our top performers. I mention this because we have a host of young, inexperienced players like Luiz in our squad that you have to have patience with. I fully agree though, we desperately need him to sign that new deal or we will have to reluctantly sell this summer.
  14. 3rd youngest team in the PL. Then you look at some of our older players like Mings and realize they haven't played that many games at a top level either. Sadly I think we won't be able to shake some of these youthful mistakes until we decide to bring in some older, more experienced heads.
  15. Was great in a midfield role. As soon as we have 2 healthy wingers let's give the 4-2-3-1 a go.
  16. Ings is a better striker and we lost the best chance creator in the Prem over the summer. The front office probably assumed we would get less chances per game and needed someone who had a better conversion rate.
  17. 3 years on the job this weekend. I can still remember being bored to tears watching us under Bruce before his replacement. No matter what happens in the future he has given us a club to be proud of again. Thank you Dean.
  18. Doubt it. Who grows up wanting to be a human size version of a UPS barcode?
  19. One positive to come from this will be that all the Top 6 will push desperately for a strict, enforceable salary/transfer cap. No way are they going to let Newcastle just waltz in and steal a CL spot without a fight. Villa is already built well for when that gets enacted. The key to winning under strict salary limits is to invest heavily in youth since their first couple of contracts will always be significantly less than an equally talented vet. Our youth setup has to be one of the best in the PL right now. UTV!
  20. Just sucks Bruce is gonna get fired now. Dean is going to lose his punching bag.
  21. I think it's mostly on him. That transfer fee must be like a ton of lead on his shoulders. You look at the run Jesus made for City's goal vs Liverpool or the Silva run where he got cut down by Milner. In both instances they took on multiple Liverpool players. I really doubt Pep is telling less skilled dribblers to attack while telling Jack to play it ultra conservative. If it keeps going like this for the rest of the season, City may have to pay another £50 million for Dean and make him Jack's personal coach. So far he is the only manager that has been able to get consistent high level play from Jack.
  22. Why does it have to work to justify both of them in the squad. Are we not allowed to have depth at striker.
  23. Seems extremely short sighted. We could just try a different formation instead of selling our top scorer from last season.
  24. Pretty sure he is aiming higher than that. At least I hope so.
  25. Really isnt that much in the scheme of things. Not for Top 6 and any hope of Europe. The Top 6 spend that every 3 years on transfers/wages and they already had established Prem teams when we arrived from the Championship after finishing 5th.
