well he's the only RB we have so he gets into the team by default. good job he's brilliant
  2. this has always been the case. unfortunately it is the main reason it's failing. if you worked in a factory, and brought in a new piece of machinery that theroetically cut things more accurately but your staff are too stupid to use it properly so it makes things more inaccurate than before, you'd either find less stupid staff or go back to the old machines that your staff are not too stupid to use. neither appears to be happening here
  3. you'd probably be going back many, many years to find the last time villa v man u was not on tv. it ALWAYS is so best just to assume it will be moved
  4. great atmosphere today. asked the same after the last time we played sat 12.30 after a great performance vs newcastle though, why did so many leave early? i get it, no trains, but for early kick offs what are you in a rush to get home for? i totally get it for any other kick off time but surely not for 12.30 games everyone's circumstances are different, and i'm trying my best not to judge, but few players stayed out after final whistle i thought and i wonder if it was because they wanted a bigger crowd to celebrate the win with
  5. so you have to stay in your seat presumably? can't mill about, stand at the bar mingling with other fans? yeah seems pretty poor
  6. still ticking along myself! just stopped posting selections on here. been an OK summer on the flat so rest of the year will quieten down for me as don't touch the jumps

    Cats...

so sorry to hear that mate. really is the hardest thing to do, even if it is what's best. no one apart from pet lovers gets it. 21 is a great age, but it's never long enough
  8. just got back myself. really enjoyable, and arguably the best saw film including the first. great to see john kramer being the star for once. and sorry to nitpick, but this was supposed to be a prequel...there's all sorts you can do with makeup etc...could they have at least tried to make him look younger, rather than the 20 years older he is from when we first saw him?
  9. i think it's often a valid argument, usually when calling for managers' heads however in olsen's case, i honestly think we could go down the list of the teams in the championship and whilst i couldn't name a single one of them, i'd wager 15+ would be an upgrade and many would cost <£10m
  10. it was the only position i could think of remotely comparible because teams tend to play 1 up top these days martinez is no spring chicken, he's in his 30s now. a young keeper should jump at the chance to work with him for a couple of years before making a crack at our number 1 spot besides, we don't qualify for CL in the next 2 years he's probably off anyway so said backup keeper would get his chance
  11. ordinarily this would be an entirely fair question. but this could easily be worded as "who wants to play understudy and learn from the best goalkeeper in the world?" taking money out of the equation, think a young striker would hesitate at signing for city and working with haaland every week despite knowing they've zero chance of starting any games? there simply has to be a decent young up and coming keeper out there that we can teach emery ball to
  12. Absolutely and to be honest I can't imagine the wsl would want the bad press if issuing fines anyway
  13. i'm probably going to be down to a bare 11 players this week if saka is out and one of those is gvardiol who played a lot of minutes mid week. i'm sticking to my GW8 wild card though and will just have to hope the rest of my team gets me through this weekend.
  14. you love to see it. the gbeebies viewers are raging. they used to have a safe space for racist, mysogynistic, covid denying, conspiracy theroising, antivax 'news' away from all that 'woke' mainstream media

    Unai Emery

agree with this. it all started with the season ticket price hike and has continued with butchering the holte end for hospitality and the removal of the holte suite as a free pre match venue. coupled with the shit shirts, some poor messaging on social media, and ludicrous pricing for a carabao cup game and you're left with a very pissed off fanbase who are only kept somewhat calm by things going well on the pitch. the second that starts to no longer be the case, you're going to see murmurs of discontent becoming much louder. if any of these off field issues weren't there, i don't think you'd see any posts like "we've been shit most of the season", "we were lucky to beat palace and chelsea" etc etc. so whilst i agree it's not "looking for an excuse to moan" i think it's being generally pissed off so you see faults that you otherwise wouldn't be seeing. not sure where else this post should belong to be honest but i better bring it back on topic, frankly with the injuries we've got, i'm amazed at our start to the season and credit for unai for doing that. when mings got injured, i said at the time it felt like our season was over. if you'd offered me 6th after 6 games i'd have bitten your hand off. he shows time and time again that he's an elite manager and he just gets things right.
  16. based on our last line up and performance i'm really concerned that the conference league isn't much of a priority for us
  17. this is the worry. we took a chance on him and (so far) it's not paid off
  18. i said it in the post match, it really was as if the squad didn't fancy the additional midweek games in the run up to xmas. i'm not totally blaming emery for this one and his HT subs indicated he wanted to win. shame the team didn't
  19. i get that but we finally have a squad and manager where i wouldn't fear them if we took the cups seriously
  20. but they're out. along with spurs, brighton, and other PL teams. it's a very winnable competition this year and that doesn't happen very often

    Unai Emery

that would've been far less ridiculous than starting olsen. and i'm not picking on him, but there's a noticable change in mindset when he's on the pitch and it cannot be a coincidence. the otherwise composed defence looked so nervous tonight as they have done whenever he's played. whenever i see olsen starting, i will always think that it's a de-prioritised competition and my mind's made up on that one
