  1. Chester isn't happy - and I can see why. This is nothing short of a joke lol
  2. I think Ono will be the one sitting back. Wouldn't be surprised if Green was partnering Davis and Hourihane plays AM. Think the tactics will only work if Davis occupies their defence and allows Hourihane and Green space. Also seems like we may be hoping for Davis to get his head on some crosses.
  3. Attacking players: Elmo, Ono, Davis, Hourihan, Green Obviously depends how he tells them to play, but if let loose think the attacking threat will be good.
  4. It's attacking - I like it. Bit worried the defence is quite slow - but if they're sitting deep we should be okay. Crucial game for Whelan to link the play - quite excited to see how this turns out.
  5. It's a results business - works both ways. He keeps getting 3 points and I'm not gonna argue.
  6. watch someone like fxxxxxg Hull buy him off the back of that. Fantastic - proved a lot of us wrong!
  7. Played very well by the looks of it and didn't even get a goal - which is saying something for a lone striker. Imagine if he'd have bagged a couple of the 5/6 chances he had! Keep it up son!
  8. Jokanovic on sky sports explaining he has no say in signing players. We need a manager who is happy for this to be the case in the short term. The scope is: get the best out of the team we've got. Prove yourself on that front and then we can talk about your players. Essentially, prove your worth.
  9. Oh come on - lighten up! Adds a bit of excitement. This is football not a murder trial. Whatever Xia says he could well do the opposite, so what he tweets doesn't matter beyond its entertainment value. It's a common scenario: club says 'vote of confidence' and two games later he's fired. Roll with it, be stoic, nothing you do will make a difference so stop complaining and enjoy it.
  10. We sold a player for a profit! And that player was Bacuna! Whaaaaaaaaat
  11. Weird player... it's not often an Attacking Midfielder can play Left Back. Or at least I'm hoping that's why he was so poor at Left Back. Good third choice, but struggling to see a use for him other than a couple of games a season.
  12. I think I'll wait until 7 or 8 games to pass judgement - rightly or wrongly. But IF we do decide to pull the trigger, we should replace with a 'coach' manager. Someone who can actually get onto the training pitch and coach tactics. (Not saying Bruce doesn't do this, but I don't think it's one of his best attributes. He doesn't seem like a progressive 'coach') Silva from Hull springs to mind - not involved with transfers at Watford, but is more of a coach. (No, I'm not saying we could get him)
  13. Really disappointing that we aren't passing through the middle and changing the play up. We have the players to do it and going down the flanks is only going to get us so far - especially when we don't have strikers available that are good in the air.
  14. Samba didn't come on for Hogan? Why would this kill his confidence? Hogan came off for Onomah in the 78 minute. Samba came on for Lansbury in 90th.
  15. Needs to be more box to box. He's looked a lot more effective with that responsibility. He doesn't suit being in 'the hole'. Needs to be picking the ball up from Whelan and driving forward, redistributing between the flanks or slotting Hogan through. Having him sat just behind Hogan didn't work today as we either went down the flanks or played a shitey floating ball up to Elmo / nobdody. Unsurprising there's not much love for his performance today - he was basically playing a nothing position.
  16. There was a moment in the first half - towards the 40th minute - where Gabby made a long run, was clearly knackered, and had to signal Hogan to cover him while he got his breath back. He played well today, but he's not going to be able to play 90 mins much. For me, he's a fantastic super sub, but we can't rely on him to be a main striker. That said, I'm chuffed he's back to the Gabby that offers something. It's great.
  17. While we're in the shti show of the Championship, I don't care what we do to get back up. If this guy is better than Tsh, which it seems like he is, job well done. Extremely short term I admit, but who cares.
  18. From watching most of the pre season games, I see absolutely no reason why Steer shouldn't start. He's done nothing to make me think he should be replaced in the line up. I was also watching one of the games in Germany and heard someone shouting and organising very loudly but couldn't work out who it was. ...to my disbelief, it was Steer. That impressed me.
  19. Good interview in the Times this morning with Bruce talking about Terry. One quote stuck with me from reading the article that alluded to Villa's lack of leadership and winning mentality. Bruce suggested this was the main reason for signing Terry - along with his obvious ability. As others, and myself, have suggested from when the rumours of signing Terry began, his main attribute is the 'intangibles' he brings. Very shrewd move.
  20. Come off it. Suggesting a TOTAL lack of creativity is more of an exaggeration than when I threatened to move into a bungalow because I tripped up my hallway stairs. We were good in patches going forward and were particularly good on the counter attack I thought. I concede our conversion was poor, but the signs are there that we've made progress.
  21. Negates the fact one season with Terry could mean promotion. We get promoted and we will all be praising the 'short term thinking'.
