  1. Surprised we haven't had any rumours of loaning Chelsea players tbh. It's the obvious link given Terry joining us.
  2. I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous! He's a nice lad and good that he was brought through the Acadamy, but he's an average to good CB. For the 5 or 6 games that Samba, Chester or Terry cant make Jedinak can more than adequately fill Baker's boots.
  3. Think this is all on us. Our competitors are good, but over a season we should be better. Our squad is more than good enough for top 2. If we perform, we go up - don't think it will quite be that simple though unfortunately.
  4. Looked good in the first 45 minute game the other day. Got some flair and determination.
  5. Just bought my ticket - on general sale now. New ticket provider software is pretty decent. £30 for adults - £17 for U21. Not bad.
  6. Tough one - but should go out on the front foot: Johnstone Bree Chester Terry Taylor Whelan Hourihane Lansbury Elmo Green Hogan Or... swap Green for Grealish and give him a 'free roam'. Don't think Green and Grealish can start together unfortunately.
  7. Is this likely to go on general sale?
  8. Gives us a different option. Will prove useful against the more physical teams on a rainy Tuesday night I think. Certainly the best 4th choice centre back a championship club have ever had. We have strength in depth :woop:
  9. Looked good today. Think we have the potential for a really good midfield, with this guy being a key distributor.
  10. Jedinak and Whelan have some significant differences IMO. Jedinak is a no nonsense, clear the ball first, type of player. Whelan is an interceptor and distributor from what I've seen of him. In theory, his play SHOULD not only win possession back but be the start of the attack. Something that Jedinak often didn't do.
  11. In what way do you think he is wrong? In that you don't think Lansbury and Hourihane are very good footballers?
  12. I think of Whelan as a footballing Pulis. Gets the job done when others are bothered about other things. No frills but bloody good at what they do. Will get you to a good place but not a great place. At our stage of development I think he's perfect.
  13. Think people believe he is a shit crosser because when we've played Hull in the past we've had 'decent' (in the loosest sense of the word) full backs applying pressure. Don't think he'll be under the same kind of pressure in our games this season, so should - with some luck - be a useful weapon.
  14. Seems slightly ironic. I'm not saying Tish > Neves - but if you're going to argue for signing people like Neves and cut our losses with Tish then we'll be going round in circles.
  15. I think that's it isn't it - players need to perform or be taught a system in which they perform. A common theme seems to prevail at the mighty Villa we love. Sanchez: 'good but not for us'. Gil: 'a spark but not when deployed in our system'. Veretout: 'decent; but struggled'. I think there is a problem at our club - and it's not unique to us - that we don't buy players, put an arm around their shoulder and fit them into a system that plays to their and our strengths. Of course, you could counter and suggest that they should play in 'our' system when signed. But then what's the point of signing them? I think we currently have the players that are more than good enough, it's just about a system - and a good one. It's easy to forget the intangibles in a game of football, but get a bunch of lads that are half decent, playing together, with a good atmosphere, and you will do wonders. ...he says... *tin hat on*
  16. I've said this before, but last year I took one main thing away from our championship experience: The championship is $h!t. You'll hear old school pundits, your mates at the pub, Barry the bus driver say 'ooh tough tough league to get out of'. For me, I thought it was largely full of piss poor, physical and talentless teams. To get out of this league we don't need CR7 in his prime, an up and coming great Albanian superstar or a Porto wonderkid. We need a solid team that plays 'good' football week in week out. Whether that be in Rotherham on a Tuesday night or Fulham at 3pm Saturday. I feel we have the players that can do that already - we just need a solid game plan and a good preseason. We need to be well drilled and organised and we need to be at our peak fitness. Do the above and I don't care if we sign Glen Whelan or Rick Stein.
  17. I feel like what you're getting with Terry is so much more than a £60k a week overpaid 36 year old though. As a footballer, yes he may be on his last legs and not as agile as he needs to be. But christ, what you are getting is a man that has been Chelsea club captain for 10 odd years. You're getting a born leader and true influencer. Something that I bet 90% of people on this forum would agree we have been missing for the last 5 seasons. For me, signing two bog standard championship players who improve the squad slightly is far less appealing to bringing in a (very able) Terry and his many 'intangibles' - shall we call them.
  18. Which coins are up 'playing' with, so to speak?
  19. Was anyone part of the etherium wave since the beginning of the year? So much growth in these coins - it's just picking one that will go the distance. The thought of buying now for mere $s, locking it away in a paper wallet and waiting until 2025 excites me no end. Could obviously be a couple of hundred pounds lost, but very interesting nonetheless.
  20. Few guys at work started chatting about cryptocurrencies a few weeks back and I've been filling a lot of hours recently reading up on then. All very interesting stuff and I think I'll take the plunge and purchase a few different coins soon - wondered whether anyone else has been sucked into it?
  21. A bank of past questions and questions created by the institute. Essentially practise papers. I obviously knew the exam would be different, but I thought it would be based on a topic where practise questions existed
  22. The fact I've just done an exam and the main question that came up was not present in the 'question bank'. Meaning I had never experienced a question of its kind. It shouldn't piss me off because of course they want you to have coverage over the WHOLE syllabus, but it does because it's so sneaky.
