Once the team gels, we should be doing - for want of a better phrase - 'a Newcastle'. Of course it will take a bit of time. If it doesn't in the medium term, then a deeper look will be needed. But for now, in the short term, RDM has proved his worth. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Just seen an atricle suggesting an offer of 6m! Forget what I said above, take it and run! Does need replacing though. Meaning midfield acquisitions of Jedinak (or similar), an AM and another.

Should be kept. Good enough to be a squad player at this stage. Unless he has a bad attitude, which it doesn't seem he does. Like a few others, he isn't a world beater, but a bit of confidence and some good players around him would do him well.

I feel like all our midfielders would benefit from stronger players around them. Seeing either Tish or Westwood in a three man midfield with someone like Jedinak and a solid box-to-box midfielder would do them a world of good I think. I know we all want to see this squad incinerated and a new squad replace them, but it will take time. I'd rather we get rid of an excess defender - of which we have a few - than ship out Westwood. Westwood can be a very solid midfield back-up for the championship.

I was watching the Sky documentary this morning on Pep. Amongst other things, one of the main things that so many past players / managers commented on about the Barca team he built was the dressing room spirit. I think I have naively dismissed this until the last 6 months. We absolutely need to get rid of the bad apples. Richards is clearly at the top of that list. Getting rid of him - for me - would be on par with the business of getting McCormack in.

Why do we need to sell Westwood to fund the purchase of Jedinak? Seems an odd proposition if we have to sell to buy with Xia. I understand there is a need to reduce the squad size, but offloading Westwood - given that he is a good backup - doesn't really seem wise.

Lots of ifs to this story, but worse case scenario: RDM: I don't want you, Joe Bennett JB: okay, I'll move. --------------- RDM to avfc staff behind the scene: I don't want Joe Bennett, he can be sold. avfc staff: ok, we will sort this out. -------------- Xia: Hang on, probably not best to sell to a promotion (fingers crossed) rival. Hardly interfering with RDM is it. It's not like he's saying JB should be in the team, he's just saying (we think) not to sell to a 'rival'. Seems sensible to me.

Don't think he deserves the stick he gets. He is an okay player and find to be a squad player should we bring in a new CM and winger. Think confidence is the issue with him - as with many players. If he gets used to winning a few games, think he would be a completely different player. *tin hat on* Would be interested in seeing him at RB again. Think if someone coached him on his positioning, he is athletic enough to do a good job there. Better than Hutton anyway - which I know isn't saying much, but still.

My thoughts too. Can only hope it means he realises he's not part of our plans as we want better players. Would have preferred him to go to WBA tbh.

Not really bothered about fees and 'value for money' - we need at least one striker who can score goals in the championship. Both Bamford and Mac do that - get them in. The thought of Ayew, Bamford and Mac is great. Then Gestede as plan B sounds good to me.
