  1. Think his arrival - along with the prescence of Grealish - will be really good for Hogan.
  2. This is where my reluctance to conclude either way stems from
  3. This. In another thread we seem to be applauding those who call out ITKs and in this thread we’re succumbing to their voodoo knowledge
  4. If this doesn’t illustrate the lack of critical analysis applied to modern day ‘news’, I don’t know what will.
  5. I’m not in the ‘reluctantly willing to let him go to progress’ camp. The reasons being: - if Jack plays well, Villa play well and he progresses - if he stays, he could easily be this year’s Sessengon - meaning he progresses and gets more ‘exposure’ - we’ve just been taken over and it’s game changing, Villa could progress to match Jack’s progression
  6. Must be out of stock because telling me Pre-Order For Delivery From 31/08/2018
  7. A bit weird of Bruce’s to do that press interview with Sky if this was in the pipeline. I know it was probably at initial stages then but SB’s tone was pretty strong considering.
  8. It doesn’t seem like we’ve been bought as a toy - which could be said about a few other takeovers in the past, e.g. Cardiff, Hull etc. If both chaps wanted a toy they would have ‘invested’ outright. This seems like a business decision and not an endless black hole of money. I think that’s best and it quite excites me as it suggests a few things: both chaps probably have strategic alliances, if the goal is investor return the only way is up, and - more importantly - there is solid brains behind the whole thing.
  9. Maybe this is part of the plan? Bruce: 'We are expecting a real tough time on Deadline Day, we'll know they'll wait until then' *Deadline Day comes* AVFC: 'Sorry lads, not for sale, maybe at Christmas?'
  10. Those close ups confirm it for me: I love it
  11. Just listened to that Bruce sky sports interview and can't express how angry it has made me. We have gambled our financial stability and keeping the best prospect we've have in decades for little more than overpaid wkers brought in by financially inept Representatives for dckhds.
  12. Big fan of the kit - was actually looking to get a replica of the 1984 kit. Wish this was a round neck, but happy with it regardless.
  13. The training gear on the avfc shop doesn't seem to have the unibet sponsor - is this how it will be sold?
  14. We almost certainly wouldn't even see half of that on the deal being finalised. So in cash flow terms, more like 3 months.
  15. The fisherman should not sell his most fruitful and prized rod for his fishing licence. Keep the rod, steal the licence and get cracking!
  16. I don't understand this assertion that we will definitely have to sell assets. To me, the wage bill is the prominent issue. I think it's probably true that the reason we're in this mess is because we were reliant on a monthly Xia top-up of £Xm per month and since this stopped we has sudden cash flow issues. This would be expected given the going concern basis in the May accounts was only confirmed by PwC with reference to a letter of support from Recon. But if Xia is still happy to put in this monthly top up - and can - then we will be fine. Maybe I'm naïve in thinking this is possible?
  17. Looking at y/e 2017 accounts, no Corp Tax appears to be payable with respect to the year. Further, the unprovided for deferred tax asset is near confirmation that a profit hasn’t been made since as it would have been recognised should it have been reasonably expected to be used within the foreseeable. Creditors shows 800k - this most likely being VAT payable (as there is no tax debtor), NIC and other employment taxes. The VAT as at 31 May would likely be in relation to April and May - being two thirds of the quarter that straddles the year end. I doubt activity has materially changed such that VAT levels would be different now, so I doubt the tax is VAT payable. 4.5m would mean a significant increase in VATable revenue since May - nothing to suggest this. NIC and PAYE are commonly paid the month after and there appears to be no build up in these as at year end - (P&L social security and tax is £8m, so a creditor of c10% at year-end suggests no backlog). In the absence of any more clues, albeit with no football-specific accounting knowledge, I’d guess the tax is in relation to a build up of employment related tax.
  18. Is all very odd - the club must have know about this for a while. In my mind, that worries me and comforts me in equal potions. We have an accounting function - I’m sure full of very experienced people - in place that are responsible for this. We probably also get tax advice and computation support from the Big 4, so this should be news to no one who is in charge. We could be disputing the charge? We could be taking advice through an intermediary and this is their f up? Sources when Xia bought us argued deep pockets. FFP doesn’t restrict this kind of investment, so should Xia be in a position to sort this out, it should be fine. If he can’t, or won’t, that’s when we have a big problem.
  19. Strange statement - not sure what to make of it. Guess we’re going to be cutting back!
  20. Kodj and Jack (hopefully) for the whole season. Stability and a sense of consistency. I’m fairly Bruce-neutral, and I wouldn’t be averse to change, but I think there’s much to be said about keeping Bruce for one more year. That said, I think the decision should be dictated by the state of the squad after people leave and we get our budget. If we can, materially, keep the same squad I’d be comfortable with backing Bruce again. All ifs and buts of course, but if we had beat Bolton / QPR and had a semi-decent start, we would have finished second easily.
  21. Any solid quotes or articles suggesting it’s definitely probable he will leave? Footballer aside, if he stays he keeps Jack’s head solid. I’m also frothing at the prospect of him helping Green and O’Hare like he did Grealish. The man - like him or not - provides so many intangibles to the squad that he is as important as our manager.
