  1. Wednesday will overtake them eventually, I'm sure of that. Karanka's defensive game should see them safe, provided he doesn't get bored and leave. Nothing I have seen from them so far suggests they will get promoted, and even if they did, it would require an absolute miracle for them to stay up.
  2. Nah. We'll have it wrapped up by then.
  3. We'd do well to put the Liverpool result out of our minds for this one. It's too easy to get carried away after that. If we do manage to pull off a convincing win though, then we might just end up as the league's surprise package this year.
  4. It must be pretty maddening too that despite having the city in their name, they aren't the first club people think of when they talk about Birmingham clubs.
  5. I'm sure NSWE and co have stated before that they see Brentford as an example of how Villa should be run? Or something like that.
  6. Martinez would've saved that.
  7. So that's now two of the world's top managers (Pep and Klopp) and the best player in the PL saying it. Praise hardly gets higher than that.
  8. Another thought - the last two gameweeks have been classics in terms of goals scored, so there might be an influx of people paying for these passes in the hopes they'll see more of the same. If the next one has a more regular amount of goals then there will be a significant drop off in sales going forward.
  9. £10 is what I spent on a day pass to watch the Liverpool game (best tenner I've spent in my life, by the way). If they'd come up with that figure I wouldn't have batted an eye. I just don't get why they think we'd be ok paying £15 now when the price has always been £10 before. They should consider lowering even further to £5 though, because of the second bold bit here. £15, even £10 severely limits the audience they're going to get. I can see them regretting this.
  10. This is true. I doubt even a loss, unless it's an absolute battering, would bring down the optimism surrounding the players at the moment. I think we can do a job here. After last Sunday, we've proven we can compete with the best in this league.
  11. Given that there is a fair chance we'll lose him at some point, I hope Lange has good eye on a similar sort of player, just in case. I think there's a fair chance we can keep him regardless though. He's part of the furniture around here now.
  12. My dad's a Leeds fan. Credit where it's due though, he never tried to inflict that disease on me.
  13. Looking forward to our matches this season. They're shaping up to be very interesting.
  14. Updated my MOTM vote to Grealish. Looking back, he was absolutely imperious.
  15. He always seems to be with Matty Cash. Looks like they're striking up a solid friendship.

Oh, you know. Scraped a lucky win.
  17. It's one thing to decline after a while at the top of your game. It's quite another to have your entire philosophy dismantled over and over and over again across 90 minutes, and completely fail to do anything about it. One thing that has become painfully clear about Liverpool is that they don't have a plan B. They're used to dominating or at least having enough firepower to outscore just about anyone. What happened last night was frankly a long time coming, and they had no response. I've also thought for a while that we're due an upset, considering we didn't really manage one all last season (unless you count the Arsenal win). I'm thrilled both of these things happened at the same time.
  18. I forgot about that. The signs were there that they were going to be found out eventually, he just didn't see it somehow.
  19. Because nobody can prove otherwise, I'm just assuming it's because they know we're superior and they quietly expect this sort of thing from us. If anything, we should've scored double figures, so they think we were wasteful.
  20. https://www.smallheathalliance.com/read.php?1,2916921,page=10 I've had a lovely time reading their Villa thread from this point on this evening.
  21. Gave Watkins MOTM just for that hattrick. Everyone was in a for a shout though IMO. What a game.
  22. Opens his PL account with a perfect hattrick against the champions. Who's doubting him now?
  23. I'm absolutely stunned. I can't believe what I'm watching here.
  24. A week ago, West Brom made PL history by conceding 11 goals in their opening three matches, the most ever since the PL was established. Man U have just equalled that.
