  1. We had to be able to prove he'd be an integral part of the squad in order for him to gain his work permit. It was more to do with the transfer fee in relation to the average amount we'd pay for transfers at that time though, which at the time was something like the third or fourth highest we'd ever paid for anyone. The idea was that we wouldn't pay such a high price for a squad player.
  2. I think Ross starts against Stoke tonight, then comes off the bench around 60 minutes against Liverpool to score the winner.
  3. If that's true then fair play to him. Gits.
  4. DCL is turning into quite the player. Respect.
  5. I can honestly say I didn't believe for a second he wouldn't still be here this season.
  6. Martinez Cash Konsa Mings Targett Luiz McGinn Barkley Traore Watkins Grealish It chooses itself, frankly.
  7. A vocal minority, I'm sure. I didn't suddenly hate Man City when Delph went there, so I doubt they universally hate us for this. I enjoy our friendly rivalry with Everton. It's better than the bitter ones we usually have with other clubs.
  8. You mean, like, Leon Bailley or something? I don't know man, I'd say we need a left back more.

All this talk of upgrading the stadium worries me a little. Look at it - it's a thing of beauty. I agree with upgrading the North Stand and maybe filling in the corners, but they shouldn't feel the need to do too much. VP is a huge part of our identity, and we shouldn't mess with it.
  10. I'd be concerned at this point that it would be impossible to keep everyone content. There's good vibes around the club at the moment, and that's no small thing.
  11. True. If anything, that makes me happier that they've broken their stance on loans. I think it'll prove to be the wise decision.
  12. I don't know, that was my interpretation. Either way, they were probably wise to realise that this could be a necessary signing, even if it's just to help us consolidate as a PL team.
  13. Their stance was to do with developing players for other teams, if I remember correctly. Barkley is very well established by now, so that's not really an issue. Arguably he can help us just as much as we can help him.
  14. How high was this lad when he wrote this list? I want some of whatever he's on.
  15. Sadly, I think you're right. Saying that though, I think Barkley offers the same statement of intent as Rashica would've done, if not more. We have no doubts about how he can handle himself in the league and he'll almost certainly help us kick on. I'd still love it if Rashica came as well, but if we've signed Barkley instead then we've done fantastically well.
  16. I'd still be happy with a comfortable upper-bottom half finish that sees us nowhere near the relegation fight. I think that's at the very least what we have right now, although a top half finish is not beyond us.
  17. Along with Arsenal fans crying over Martinez, Forest fans losing their minds over Cash and Brentford fans missing Watkins, I'd say we've had a successful window.
  18. I don't think it really matters. Even if he's here just to plug a gap while we're still in transition, hell be a massive help to us.
  19. Oh nice, I didn't actually think this would happen. This might be the very thing we need to give us a kick on this season.
  20. He's far below the level we need now, I know that, but I hear a lot of people calling him useless and I just don't see it. Maybe I let the respect I have for him cloud my judgement, but I can't help but like him.
  21. Hutton's story as a member of the bomb squad who, through sheer determination, became a first team regular and scored a beauty against SHA makes him a cult figure. He wasn't brilliant, but he was always committed to the cause and we can never ask for more from anyone. To me, Taylor is much the same. Doggedly professional and steadily reliable, he always looks committed even if he's not really at the level we need right now. I like the guy. I feel like the team is more balanced defensively with him instead of Targett.
  22. He wasn't playing against Arsenal either, so probably not unfortunately. Then again, Roy Keane said they were sloppy, so it must be ours to lose.
  23. Oh right. I see that now. This is a really impressive list. It must've taken a lot of effort.
