  1. The fact that the article used two completely unrelated pictures of them sites there's nothing to it. Two people who live in tier 2 areas travelled to another tier 2 area and had a meal together for one of their birthdays. This is completely legal under current restrictions. They even left before 8pm. Hardly partying, is it? SHA fans clearly don't care about what's actually right. They're just blinded by vitriol and envy.
  2. True. I think we're all still jaded from the last decade, though. I won't want to start seeing potential "relegation rivals" picking up points until it's basically certain that we won't get dragged into it. I don't think for a moment that we'll even be in the conversation when it comes to relegation, we're performing well all things considered and look absolutely like we belong in this league. But it's been so bad for so long that it's always there at the back if my mind. I bet it's the same for most of us here.
  3. According to WhoScored, Ollie is the 8th best player in the league this season so far.
  4. Considering two years ago Man U beat us 13-0, I'd say today's result is good progress. It was always going to be a tough season, but honestly the team don't look like they're much off the pace of the league. Survive this season and they can really kick on.
  5. This is the sticking point for me. I genuinely believe the FA doesn't care about England being successful as a football team, as long as it's full of marketable players. Call me cynical, but that's how it seems to be.
  6. The way I see it, we're at the beginning of a long overdue change in attitude about inclusivity. Pride organisations for all sorts of clubs have started cropping up all over the place over the last few years. As they start to grow their platform, they'll start to have real influence. That's when we'll start to see positive change. As for the response on social media to their show of support, I wonder if AVFC will put out any form of statement, or if Villa And Proud will contact them over it? I'd like to see something from the club about it.
  7. Jamie Carragher's comparing him to Eden Hazard. That's some high praise right there.
  8. Just keep him the hell away from penalties.
  9. This is tough. I might have to go for 2 for that spine of Bosnich, God, Zidane and Saunders. But imagine Grealish supplying Dalian and Yorke.
  10. It's mad to think that the only thing stopping them from being sucked into a relegation battle is the sheer awfulness of the teams at the bottom. Any other year and they would be right there in it.

    Wolves

Apparently Jiminez is conscious and will be fine. Great news, that looked sickening.
  12. Yes, that's true. Even then, Fulham look considerably more likely to stay up, and that's saying a lot.
  13. Not until they learn to aim. Mousset's miss at the end was frankly shocking. I could've scored that.
  14. My god, Sheffield United are absolutely insipid this season. Has any team ever gone from being top half one season to starting this badly the next?
  15. They're clearly a well drilled side. Good fun to watch. I still can't see them keeping this level of intensity up for the entire season though. How deep is their squad?
  16. Exactly this. We love Deano. Anger is a passionate emotion and you only ever feel it if you truly care about something. Not that I ever see any anger directed at him, just at the way he does things sometimes.
  17. To be fair, the pieces were already there for Leicester. They never looked like a team that deserved to go down, and they ended that season in red hot form.
  18. Absolutely right. The vulnerabilities are a symptom of us still growing as a team. We've improved massively in a short amount of time; it makes sense that there will still be throwbacks to last season's concerns. We have seen that we are clearly getting better and better, but it will take time yet. Smith has proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he knows what he's doing, as far as I'm concerned.
  19. It's genuinely possible that 11 points could be enough for survival this season.
  20. He was never great, but I'll always like him simply for his attitude. It probably says a lot about the standard of player we've had over the last decade, but the simple fact that he always tried keeps him out of this team for me. I think he'll go down as something of a cult figure because of his fall, rise, fall, rise, fall and rise again, topped off by that goal against blose.
  21. It was Gin. But yes, the way he promoted that was genius. Wrexham stand to profit greatly from this.
  22. I've never known a team be as bad at penalties as Fulham seem to be. Absolute comedy.
  23. Would we then have bought Mitrovic instead of Watkins?
  24. I was thinking about our relegation squad earlier, and I found myself wondering whatever happened to Carles Gil? As far as I can tell, he's currently captain of New England Revolution in MLS. He was so highly rated by them that he was bought in as a designated player, which basically means MLS teams are permitted to break their salary cap in order to bring them in. He also won best newcomer in his debut season, along with "man of the year", which I assume is the same as player of the season. I'm happy for him. I've always liked him. He never had a chance of succeeding in that Villa team.
  25. Joint 11th top scorers? Incredible. Just end the league right now.
