    Based on that scything lunge from Digne against Man U, which reminded me of some of the tackles I saw playing in the South Birmingham Sunday League division 4 many years back, he’ll certainly be needed to cover for suspensions.

    Replacing Mings would be madness. We’ve seen that with the right defensive midfield cover (the resurgence of Marv under Gerrard), as a defensive unit we can be tight and don’t concede too many. Centre-back is about partnerships, and without the leadership and dominance of Mings, Konsa isn’t the same player. Their styles and qualities complement each other. The understanding between centre-back pairings is something that develops over time; not something we should be messing with at this stage of the season. Priority should be a capable back-up now that Axel is gone.

    I’m really starting to believe we are going places under Gerrard. So focused and single-minded, knows exactly what he wants from the players and is completely honest in his assessment. There’s no doubt in my mind he knows what he wants to change and where, and seeing Purslow’s interview earlier, it seems like the owners will back him. Exciting times ahead.

    Wasn’t he unbeaten in his first 3 games at Norwich (win v Southampton and draws v Wolves and Newcastle)?

    Sad to see him go in many respects, instrumental in helping getting us back into the big time, and chipped in with some vital goals and some moments of brilliance (that goal v Palace). I really hope he does well, and I’m glad he’s at a club that I’ve got a bit of time and respect for (and not for example Leeds).

    From what I understand Rafa is very much from the Paul Lambert school of man-management so not overly concerned with Digne.

    I’d rather saw off my own knackers with a blunt kitchen knife than sell Ings to Newcastle. Vile owners and a self-entitled ignorant fan-base. I will be over-joyed if they go down.
