    I might be missing something here but: 1. If discussions / negotiations are really at an advanced stage, would the stumbling block of salary and who pays what only just be cropping up now? Surely that would be one of the first things on the agenda, given his current wages. 2. Where are the Newcastle links coming from? Is there concrete evidence that we’re going head to head with them, or is it a case of him being linked to them due to their mega-riches?

    I wish I shared that confidence. In most other seasons they’d be on the brink. But to not be adrift on only 11 points, with Norwich, Watford and Burnley looking worse than them, and money to spend in January, I fear they will stay up.

    The levels of overreaction to players after each game is baffling. Scroll back just a few pages and you could be reading about a totally different player. Cash is a highly competent fullback who, by and large, has been very good this season. Yes, he’s impetuous and needs to cut the rash challenges out of his game, and there are no excuses for yesterday. But for where we are, and even the next step of where we want to be, he’s a good fit for us and he’s improved in his time here. There are more important priorities for us to address at the moment.

    I’m attempting to open this on both an iPhone and laptop and all I can see is a blank white screen with a claret bar and Villa badge at the top and bottom. Nothing I can fill in. I also appear to have a questionnaire for my 11 year old daughter. I’ll report back later when the stupid ****ing **** piece of **** actually works.
