  1. For the majority of it I think Methven comes across decent enough, but having to be kept in check at the Checkatrade Trophy Final by his missus is cringeworthy and embarrassing for a man in his position.
  2. Decided to do my Villa save a bit different from usual. Usually I'd look for a tactic online and top prospects, instead I'm going to back my instincts and my scouting team and backroom staff and see how it turns out. In the window I brought in 2 18yr old Germans in Noah Katterbach (I think you did too @Dante_Lockhart?) and Roberto Massimo as well as 17yr old Frenchman Isaac Lihadji. Had to do something about the glut of keepers so Nyland went to Zenit and Neil Taylor got sold to Dinamo Zagreb. I also brought back Doyle-Hayes, O'Hare & Green from loans for depth. Risky going so young but we'll see what happens I guess. Started the season at home to Bournemouth. I had more possession but they had the better chances. Went ahead through a VAR penalty that Jack put away. Ake equalised late in the 2nd half for them from a corner. Disappointing but fair result. Then off to Old Trafford. Plan against the big boys is to play a 5-3-2. Held them til half time, Mata scored early in the 2nd half. Lost 1-0 but they bossed the game. McGinn got sent off for a 2nd yellow. Next was Spurs at Home. Changed my home formation from 4-3-3 to 4-1-2-3. Seemed to work. Fell behind early but an own goal followed by a Samatta brace (inc. VAR penalty) had us up 3-1 at the break. Kane scored with less than 20 to go, but in extra time Jack received a pass from Reina just inside our own half and took it all the way and buried it to win 4-2. Draw Southampton in the League Cup at home. Played a 2nd string and lost 2-1 in a game that could have gone either way. Lastly off to Stamford Bridge with my 5-3-2 formation. Go into half time 2-0 down without a shot to our name (sounds like real life). Time to switch it up. Move back to 4-1-2-3 and 2 subs at the half. We get a break via another VAR penalty at the start of the 2nd half but Samatta has it saved by Kepa, he makes up for it by robbing Rudiger 5 minutes later and slotting it. Substitute Hourihane then hits a 30 yard free kick in the 93rd minute to earn a point! Feeling surprisingly good despite 1 win in 5 games.
  3. Cracked and got this today to kill some time whilst working from home. Spent a few hours cleaning out Villa’s back room staff.
  4. Well I hope you’re holding up alright in the current circumstances! Can’t complain mate, we haven’t been hit as hard down here as Europe (yet...). I’ll have to help you and sign you to a nice big contract on FM
  5. Sorry if this is too personal, but how are you surviving? Are you still getting paid? I think of a few of us would be interested in getting an insight into what it's like being part of a football club right now.
  6. Typical Villa. Even in the all time league table we just miss out on a spot in the all time Champion's League.
  7. Seems to be too much smoke around this one. What the **** have you done Jack?!
  8. Watched Knives Out and Ford vs Ferrari over the weekend. Knives Out was decent enough but was distracted throughout by Daniel Craig's accent. Ford vs Ferrari was very good. Another excellent performance by Bale. Great actor.
  9. Unfortunately/fortunately not in his jurisdiction!
  10. If anyone has a Switch and wants to add me, I think my username is Hornso
  11. I thought this was a low risk move and if he replaced Lansbury as an option off the bench it was an upgrade. I was undoubtedly wrong.
  12. I remember hearing Ryen Russillo talking about how the Rams had so much of the salary cap committed to so few players, I'm guessing these moves are to try and rectify that?
  13. Horrible news. Was happy for him that he was able to carve out such a long and distinguished career with Cardiff. Our ex-players are really going through a horrendous period aren't they?!

  15. Currently playing Dr. Mario (NES) which is probably the lamest response ever given in this thread.
  16. Re-watched Hot Fuzz recently. Such an enjoyable watch. My favourite of the Cornetto Trilogy.
  17. Finished Super Mario Kart (SNES). Forgot how much fun it was. Such a simple game but pretty much perfect for its time.
  18. Back in my uni days, some weekends my friends and I would stay up all Saturday night drinking and watching the Premier League (midnight kick off for the early game...and yes, we had no lives...). After the games had finished we’d also try and struggle through an episode of 60s Batman which came on at 6am. I’ll never forget one episode, Robin was walking across a piece of grass which was a part of a villains property. Without knowing he stepped into a trip wire unleashing the ultimate evil that was this thing....
  19. Summary from midweek Hogan (SHA) Away at Leicester City [FA Cup] (1-0) - Played 90 minutes. WhoScored.com rating of 6.38. Touch count: 25. Walker (Banbury United) Home to Needham Market (4-2) - Played 90 minutes.
  20. I love the most recent version of the Lion. Really don't like the star (would rather the gold one above the badge, but understand the restrictions around this) and I hate the AVFC lettering. People bring up valid points regarding the colours also. Personally I wouldn't mind if just the Lion was our badge, but if that's too minimalist, it needs to have Aston Villa FC/Football Club on the badge somewhere and not just AVFC.
