That's a bit crass. We can easily forget. If it's not for his performance at the Hawthorns in May we probably wouldn't be even have the conversations we are having about new players in this forum. Or away at Wednesday. I think "such an upgrade" is a bit demeaning. Steer is a quality keeper.

I'm just saying that the spells during the game where we were outplayed might be the way it will be at times during the season. I think we are in very good shape.

Heaton has Schmichael( the better one ) like presence in that goal. He's huge but moves so well.

Massive ahead of next week for confidence more than anything. They had a lot of their big guns out. Werner, Sabitzer, Poulsen. High quality opposition. Will stand to us. We were outplayed for large parts..Might just temper expectations a tad, which is no bad thing. We are stepping up in levels big time. You'd tend ( myself included ) to get carried away with the signings at times but it will be difficult for us too.

Billy Joe gone from Warren. You'd expect he'll be announced as a Hearn fighter in the coming weeks and a unification v Callum Smith. No barriers to making that fight now.

Agreed..I think he might be a bit of a slow burner and take a while to come to the boil than people think. But when he gets going...he'll be some player.

Wish him all the best. I do feel however that unlike the Portsmouth loan, there'll be no call back this time and not meaning to put the boot in but id be surprised if you see him in a villa shirt again. Needs confidence. Sometimes playing for your boyhood club can stunt and inhibit a players development. Sometimes they just aren't good enough. I hope it's the former. The play off semi final at the Hawthorns showed he's not ready..Looked massively overwhelmed and so nervous. Villa Park be pretty much like that night this season for nearly every game. Hope he goes and enjoys himself and play with a confidence.

I think that's a stretch to be fair. The kid has a pass on him but wouldn't call his potential other wordly or anything. And he needs to play senior football. That's clear. Should take a leaf out of Grealish's book also and go get on a serious strength and conditioning program. He needs to physically get stronger.

Purely an age thing from a Burnley perspective you'd imagine. I think though they've sold the better keeper. For me he's better than Pope. 33 is nothing for a keeper.

I think Nakamba starts at Spurs. Maybe it's just me but it doesn't look like Luiz has done that much pre season within a team. His own work yes but he could be a way off yet. Nakamba, i know he went on strike, but his strike period probably was for maybe a week and he's played AFCON during the summer so should be in decent shape.
