  1. Cracked open a couple of my stash for a virtual Christmas party over the weekend. Tiny Rebel's "Welcome to the Party Pal" A nice tropical-fruity (though the good lady insisted all she could smell was the hops) number. Enjoyed it enough to regret not buying more than one can. Would happily run over shot-out-window-glass for another/10 Tiny Rebel's "Stay Puft: Honey Glazed Ham" Pro: It smells a lot like like honey glazed ham like it probably ought to do. Con: WHY? I'm not sure whether this is just not my thing as it's not rotten apples in a can, but I'm at a loss as to why this came to be. There are certain foods; like the durian or those cans of fermented fish that have to be opened underwater lest anyone within a mile spontaneously vomits, that are considered by some to be great despite the horrendous stench. Not this, this thing just stinks, like properly made the house reek of smokey-treaclely-over-salted-meat (like someone decided to fire up a meat smoker indoors) after about 5 minutes and I'm sure I could still catch a whiff of it all over again the following morning. It didn't redeem itself with anything approaching a decent taste, where my palate was just overwhelmed with the smokey salt. Vile. I'm hoping the 3 other varieties (Irish Coffee, Chocolate Mint, Eggnog) are decent, otherwise I'm going to be seriously miffed at spending potential cider money on this... Pretty sure leaving an open can of this somewhere would be considered a breach of the Geneva Conventions/10
  2. I have a couple of friends who've been ok with their budget wheel on trainers (though bluetooth/ANT+ dropouts are infuriating no matter what you spend), though I suspect they'll be quite a few second hand trainers going on to the market in the spring in case you wanted to dabble again! But I can't disagree that the "difficulty curve" to getting everything right isn't a total nightmare for what "ought" to be a fairly straightforward process. I keep an eye on Zwift's forums and the number of people that have similar issues even with top end kit is not small. I had a 6 year old Tacx trainer that I'd been using with their old training software (mostly RLV of scenic routes with automatic resistance adjustment in time with the incline to match the video, though there was some limited VR stuff in there) - thankfully some enterprising folk had managed to reverse engineer the proprietary tacx usb protocol this trainer used in order to develop some software that'd act as a go between for zwift and the old school tacx stuff so you could use it as a controllable trainer, which sufficed until I saved some pennies (once it became apparent that WFH was going to become a thing) for an upgrade. I've also just spent 2 and half hours on an extended lunch break cycling on the spot up a pretend Ventoux (no sight of Father Christmas though) to unlock a make-believe virtual bike. At least it's got purple and blue wheels; still at least it will help work off some of the Christmas cake I've been mainlining the last fortnight...
  3. I can't believe you have all forgotten this classic:
  4. I know passing stats aren't the be all and end all (::flashbacks of the Lambert years:: , and also having seen the stats of the Dortmund/Stuttgart match), but still. Don't have a link to hand, but apparently both Southampton centre backs outpassed SU's entire team on their own at halftime.
  5. Feels like it's been that way since the time Everton told them "£26mil for Baines and Fellaini, but you'll need to get the offer in before the end of July" and their reply must have been, "no thanks, we'd much rather wait until the last day of the window to pay the same amount just for Fellaini, thank you very much".
  6. I also had the error page yesterday when using the next unread topic buttonon Win 10 (2004) using Chrome (87.0.4280.66); though it was just after the end of the game, so I had internally chalked it up to a VAR-induced meltdown of the rating and reactions thread / other football section. Though I was also getting the error at the time after posting a reply on the tech room sub forum. Edit should also mention I didn't bother clearing my cache at the time (again, just presumed it was a temporary thing) and it's been fine since on the same PC since.
  7. IKEA bulbs can be brought into the Hue ecosystem "out of the box"; I've got a couple of their warm white bulbs in places I didn't fancy shelling out top dollar for Hue bulbs - they can be added to the Hue app (and then into my Google Home setup) and then controlled via routines/apps/voice as the philips branded stuff. One note thought is that IKEA only do E14/E27 or GU10 fittings (no bayonet).
  8. I may have taken on board your notice for their black friday sale - whilst I'm more of a cyder drinker (and I sure as hell wasn't going to pay £60 for a box of their black-and-white offering) I thought I'd get on board with the festive offering. I am not sure that "Honey Glazed Ham Marshmallow Porter" was something that ever needed to exist. I'll update in due course. Thankfully I've got a fridge full of Rattler and Gwynt y Ddraig to get me over it whatever happens.
  9. Decided to join the duolingo club at the start of June, since I've been living in Wales for 18 years or so I figured it was time to get on board with learning the language (and to see how it compares to the 4 or so words of Cornish I know). It's going slowly, I probably ought to spend more than the 10 mins or so first thing in the morning when I'm usually lacking in focus/coffee - have to echo the thoughts about the lack of understanding the "why" in duolingo (thankfully the good lady was kind enough to explain the rules for the various forms of "the"). Still at least I can now say "Dw i'n mwynhau bwyta selsig"; so if I ever join a Welsh language group with a similar predilection for Kenneth as this place does, I'll be alright.
  10. Both in one? We had the misfortune of our slow cooker dying a death after it rolled off the drying rack. Got a pressure cooker as it does the slow cooking stuff well, plus the pressure cooker can cook meaty goodness super fast (I've also baked a cheesecake in it). But we tend to use the slow cooker stuff about 4 times as week, being able to stick stuff in to cook in the morning and let it stew all day works for us. Our air fryer also died at the start of lockdown, haven't replaced it - and as much as I miss being able to air dry chips and chicken in one pot, those fryers leave an fair bit of grease buildup (well, it does if you're as lazy as clearing up as I am I guess) about the place and take up an awful lot of room.
  11. Didn't he admit to not watching Gareth Bale at Madrid as he couldn't afford/be bothered to get the additional subscription service when la liga left sky?
  12. +1 for the selling master all strat; though I was too busy focussing on trying to one-shot-overflow-glitch Emerald Weapon - so the endless AP grind for all materia was somewhat of a light distraction compared to the endless KoTR masters I was after...
  13. Pedantry alert: The bolded bit is all thanks to David Elleray; technical director at IFAB since 2016.
  14. The thing I don't get in all of this; during that World Cup run (and especially the defeat against Croatia, and most of extra time against Colombia vaguely thinking about it) it was abundantly clear that England lacked any sort of control in the centre of the field. After some somewhat high scoring qualifiers and a couple of half decent nation league victories Gareth has decided to throw the last couple of year's progress into the bin and lumped all in on this hideous 3-4-3 nonsense that at times becomes 7 (SEVEN!) at the back that's once again meant there's no control (either in terms of allowing a high press, or even having someone that can take the ball and alleviate some pressure from the "arms-length" defending they're trying to do with this system) and totally stifling the hitherto-rampaging-pace-based-attack we have. It's like all the drawbacks of before, whilst totally nuking any attacking intent and relying on "dark arts", contentious VAR decisions or a bit of brilliance from someone to dig us out of the hole at the death. Which frankly (especially given the personnel available) is garbage. Also, remember the whole "picking on form and not reputation" schtick; some of that again please?
  15. Got the radio coverage on, "Gareth Southgate has a lot to think about here". I'd like to think that internal monologue is something along the lines of whether another 1 or two defensive midfielders is the way forward at this point.
  16. If I was being charitable; I'd like to think we're set up with 5 at the back with an eye towards the Belgium game - but that's evidently blown out the water the moment the ball goes into the Welsh half and either there's literally no attacking pattern or even any sort of vaguely collective attacking press (Danny Ings chasing down the keeper to see the ball shifted out to the left back with no one within 50 yards of pressuring them). Bleh.
  17. ITV (Wales - can't see whether sky show other regions as BBC do) are only showing Tennis on ITV on Sunday afternoon until 6pm, thought it was a bit odd as Sky have been very vocal about great they've been at securing the live coverage for the nations league. Highlights are listed as being on ITV at 10:30pm on Sunday though.
  18. 5 Live mentioned this at the end of the match - though it's three opening wins in the top flight if I recall correctly. Ended the season in 15th, with Everton winning the title.
  19. 2020: working from home, endless hours on zwift, PE with Joe, homeschooling a 4 year old, this thread. Magical memories, each and every one!
  20. Three matches in this break, so maybe no cuts. Talk already of heavy rotation between games (Jose complaining about Kane getting ground into a fine mist due to overplaying notwithstanding) Edit, on topic, glad he's on the squad; given the callups this time I'm (optimistically) of the opinion he's in the on general merit rather than just because there was space sure to the hotel two getting dropped.
  21. Is there a full squad listing anywhere? Most news outlets just appear to have headlining ins and outs* rather than all the players with "more to follow" - heck even the FA's twitter admin appears to have been slumped face down on a desk for the last 21hours rather than getting the news out. Edit; should have waited an extra 30 secs for Sky Sports to update.
  22. Is a 98% win probability the gridiron equivalent of "2-0 is the most dangerous scoreline" or something?
  23. Apologies, as no doubt that post will get quoted back into this thread about 50 thousand times more.
  24. https://help.soundcloud.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003449327-Track-description-and-artwork-in-your-RSS-feed Probably no help, but thought I'd mention it "just in case". Also, good work on getting it all up and running; only got to listen to the first one thus far (I blame several of my long standing podcast subscriptions deciding that they need 4+ hour long episodes a week now) but I've enjoyed it.
