  1. Kiraly must be about 50? Should be at home with his pyjama bottoms on!
  2. No for me. Last season was an absolute disgrace and not one of those players bust a gut to help the cause or showed any respect for the club. Now we are riding on a wave of optimism we should move them on and start afresh.
  3. I certainly prefer his tweets to Lescott's!
  4. Welcome Dr Xia goodbye Dr Dolittle.
  5. A couple of years ago I stayed in the same hotel as the villa team (village hotel in Hull) after we had checked in I saw Delph and Tony moon getting into a lift and said hello. Me, my wife and son went down for some grub later and as my wife was ordering I took my lad across to reception and asked if the team was in the hotel. It turns out they had booked the whole of the top floor and were currently in the conference room about to finish up and go to there rooms. Like an excited schoolboy I ran up with my lad and asked 2 waitresses who were in charge of a murder mystery weekend in the hall next door to take some photos. The players started trickling out and I had photos, chat etc with most of them barring Westwood, benteke (injured and in Belgium) and lambert. They all came across really well notably albrighton, Vlarr, Bacuna and sylla (although he tried to run off!) i was there for ages and realised I had my wife's phone in my pocket and worried (slightly) that I would be in bother but like a trainspotter getting that elusive locomotive I need to get my photo collection complete . I hung around waiting for Lambo but my wife then came upstairs and saw me chatting to these 2 young waitresses and tore a strip off me telling me my food was stone cold and the night ruined. I tried to protest but she didn't believe me until I showed her the pictures! All was forgiven the next day and I saw Guzan at breakfast and asked him to hold my boy whilst I took a photo- I then told him I changed my mind in case he dropped him! we didn't go to the game, opting to visit the deep (sea life centre) instead ,good job really as it was the 0-0 draw which definitely wouldn't have built any bridges with the wife or encourage my son to support villa!
  6. Anyone who goes to a game/ tournament looking for trouble is not a fan.
  7. Another one that now belongs in the "other football thread" actually should be in the "things that pi55 you off thread"
  8. Got to say I'm not feeling the itv coverage so far, hope the games more exciting!
  9. I went to this with my wife and son. My bottle of water had the top taken off before I went in but it didn't matter as I could buy as many bottled beers as I liked to drink on the terraces.
  10. It's all a bit sad imo. We couldn't keep players because we were a "nearly" team. If Leicester can't keep players after winning the league and gaining cl qualification , well, what more can you do? I know it's not as simple as that but it's still rubbish!
  11. Welcome Roberto (and Steve, fingers crossed) I think this is a fantastic appointment for us. Do you think they realise we are in the championship?
  12. My number one choice would be Moyes by a considerable margin. If we were still in the Premier it would be massive getting him on board. IMO if he comes here then big things are going to happen!
  13. The collymore car park challenge: " lights are flashing, look inside, are you ready for a ride?" Ashley Young's "dive like you mean it" Charles Nzogbia's "round the world on a healthy contract" and Randy Lerner's "Journey to the bottom of the league"
  14. Sod this finding out info every second on the Internet. I'll wait and see what tonight's sports argus has to say about it.
  15. I live in Yorkshire (born and bred Brummie from Handsworth and Kingstanding) been supporting Villa almost all my life (I'm 40 now). My son is 5 and has just started football sessions in his villa kit alongside other kids in Barcelona, Real Madrid, man city etc kits. My concern was as he gets older how am I going to be able to get him to support my beloved team and hopefully his kids after him in the current state we are in? This takeover could change so much for us and the future of Aston Villa (without getting carried away of course) in that it makes us relevant and exciting again. Yes there may be changes (Lotus etc) and people won't like it but in life you have to adapt and change or you will be stuck in a rut as we have been. If we are at least competing again and not getting spanked by Arsenal 4-0 every season hopefully my son and many like him in Birmingham and beyond will be supporting Villa instead of Man city etc. Players, managers and owners come and go and things change but villa fans will always be VTID.
  16. To be fair to Gabby- "Mr Aston Villa" he epitomises us as a club at the moment. Uninspiring, Useless, declining and getting headlines for all the wrong reasons.
  17. we may have some idiots in our team at the moment but I the past we have had some amazing players and men, not many more so than Stan. If he was ever to run out wearing the claret and blue again- even for a minute his acheivements would surpass more than most players could ever dream of. Great to have such a positive, inspiring story. Go on Stan!
  18. This post contains more effort, pride and passion than Gabby has all season .
  19. Never mind Holtenders in the sky- it's like Eastenders in the sky at the moment!
  20. Whatever you think of Stan, rightly or wrongly, you cannot disagree with what he had said. At least we have someone who can vent our frustrations about the state of our club to a wider audience.
