Yeah who needs experts right.

Hope Kerry win.

Some of our fans don't half talk us down.

The two badges thing is such a mess and screams identity crisis. I still can't believe they messed this up so badly.

Southgate at Leeds.

Yeah, the past 4 years have been something else. Imagine what the next 4 years might bring!

That game against Burnley he was on fire before that shocking tackle. He netted 5 league goals in half a season his first year in the Premier league. Could have forged a decent villa career I reckon, though probably not as a main man. More a sort of 7-10 goals a season type contribution alongside a main striker 12-15 type like Watkins Best of luck

Russia and its “Special Operation” in Ukraine
Captain_Townsend replied to maqroll's topic in Off Topic
Putin wants to destroy western democracy. Look at the coup in Niger- Russian dirty work. The Weat needs to rediscover the resolve of the Cold War era and the determination to preserve Liberal democracy. I feel that we have hrown flabby in the West and Internet conspiracy has eroded belief in Liberal democracy. I Don't know what the answer is but it is all quite troubling. -
Random but I have always felt Adidas would not be a good fit for Villa as they tend to crowbar in white stripes or piping into every kit they do and to me white with claret and blue just screams west ham. Have Reebok exited the whole football kit scene? Them, umbro and Nike have delivered the best ever Aston Villa kits.

Pity they are still spinning that the 2022 new crest consultation was a one season homage to 1982. Don't insult our intelligence- Heck doesn't like it. Nice kit though!

The banker loving, baby-eating Tory party thread (regenerated)
Captain_Townsend replied to blandy's topic in Off Topic
Your honours system has put an agent of Fascist Russia. Evgeny Lebede, into your parliament's Upper House. From outside the UK we have the perspective of how dirty Russian money has clearly compromised your politics. We wonder why so many in the UK are too polite to question these links. -
Our best ever sponsors were Ast Computers and Mitre Copiers. Both were just plain sponsors.

Quite an inward looking take on Global Warming. There are other countries with other perspectives and their own worries you know.

Is it just me or does the home kit look much better than I expected in the pre season games? I really was not a fan but it looks fine on the players in the games.

Russia and its “Special Operation” in Ukraine
Captain_Townsend replied to maqroll's topic in Off Topic
Russian propaganda and disinformation on social media is relentless. Look at the state if the GOP look at the idiocy of Brexit (no doubt a lot of people won't like me saying it but it suited Russia more than it suited the people of the UK). Russia had thoroughly divided the West over the past decade. We must, must have a Ukraine win. If Russia wins this one we are all facing a dangerous, dangerous world. -
RIP Sinéad O'Connor, what a voice:

Not only that, but in 2004 we finished 6th (Newcastle sneaking 5th on goal difference!) and didn't even get the Uefa Cup! I think that was pretty much the only year in about 25 years that 6th didn't qualify you for the Uefa Cup/Europa League. We actually have had some bad luck in fairness.

He is at one of the big boys. As per the peak villa thread can we stop talking our own club down?

We bought a house 5 years ago. We loved the house from day one but about a week after moving in we noticed that the house behind us had a dog that barked an awful lot. Then came the pandemic, lockdown and working from home. I swear, there were days when the dog barked from morning to night. I think the dog was a Pointer. Either way he had this horrible, sharp, rasping bark that would just get inside your head. It almost drove us crazy. It got to a stage where I had to wear earphone while working g to try to block out the noise. We aren't the type to make a fuss and hate conflict. Still, we decided we had to let them know. But this is the weird part. Every time we resolved to knock on their door about it he would stop for a few days and we would leave it. Then it would start again. Which brings me to November 2021. We were now 3 years living here and I was still mostly working from home. The barking was so bad. I decided something had to be done and would call the next day. We had even discussed what would happen if they were uncoperative and the possibility that we would put the house up for sale (the barking was driving us both crazy). And here is the thing. He didn't bark the next day and hasn't barked since! It is so weird. The dog is still there but the nuisance barking just stopped all of a sudden. My wife thinks they replaced the dog with the same breed but I am convinced it is the same dog and he has just stopped being a nuisance (neutered or something?). I honestly would love to know what happened because we genuinely were prepared to sell up if it didn't get resolved and we both think it is super weird that it just resolved itself without us having to do anything.

As an 11 year old, I was sure we were going to be challenging for the championship. It turned into such a disappointing start - Collymore really upset the balance of that team. People bang on about Newcastle of that era but we were far, far more successful in the 90s and actually won trophies!

The Wind That Shakes The Barley is another great film - not sure how it would go down with a British audience though! Very raw and a history people in Ireland are familiar with.

Wonderful film, have also watched it about 36 times!
