  1. Clear improvement??? How exactly? Yes we stopped the rot but I don't think there was anything to be cheering about performance wise.. still looked as disjointed as most of the performances under Gerrard... Leicester were half arsed at best also.. there was no improvement bar us taking a draw away against a Leicester side equally as abject as we were.....
  2. I would be interested to see how Gerrard's stats stack up against Deano's 36 or however many games in 2021 when Stevie reaches that many games in charge with us. That will be a fair indicator
  3. I loved him as a player and want him to do well but I just don't see any improvement at this moment in time. The "he needs his own players" is an excuse of the highest order for me. Yes there is an element of that but he knew which players this squad had before he signed. I have no problem with him trying to play his way with his philosophy to start with but clearly it doesn't work with this squad, a good coach sees that and adapts his style at least until he can get the players to make his system work. Gerrard just tells the players they are s**t and half of them won't be here next season... Brilliant well done Stevie, that solves it then! You have to coach your team and mould it all together in between signing players to complement it all, this is where in my opinion it's going wrong. Everybody moans and laughs at chequebook managers and I suspect we have another one here, he spent a lot in Scotland too by their standards. I am guessing Strachan, McLeish, Lennon and the likes were all on the shortlist too as they achieved the same if not more in Scotland.... He will be here until at least December and I guess that's only fair in giving him a chance and time to put it all together... It really doesn't look too clever at the moment though and Im fairly sure this time next year he will be long gone from Villa park. More than happy to be proven wrong of course... And I hope he does as it means we will be doing better but all the arguments I see for him like mentality of players etc etc are things that cannot be actually proven. Let's not forget most of these players amassed 55 points last season regardless of how bad 2021 was... The change was needed but not for a rookie manager learning on the job in my opinion.
  4. Yes of course and we have seen flashes of that. For me it's not games like that I worry about, it's the games Vs Newcastle, Watford, Brentford, Wolves and even today where we have shown absolutely none of that. One half of good football against Spurs is fine, but then the second half performance absoultely eradicates any of the good stuff in the first 45. I can't understand people who said we played well that day just because of the first 45 its total rubbish... not saying you have said that but I have had many arguments over the past couple of weeks with fans who have said that. You don't "play well" and conceed 4 because that means your defence has been s**t during that game. For me a good performance is an all round one. We are simply not seeing that on a consistent enough basis.. especially against teams below us or around us which for me is worrying
  5. The facts are though we didn't score any... But did let in 4. Doesn't matter how many saves Lloris pulled off your argument is still if buts and maybe's.... The facts are the game was 4-0 Spurs. How do you know they wouldn't have come out and still beat us even if we had scored some of them? Yes we played well in the first half but playing well doesn't necessarily win you games.. scoring goals or conceeding them determines the outcome....
  6. We conceeded 4 though which meant we actually did lose... It works both ways
  7. This is where I'm at... I want him to do well despite my reservations since he signed. I just don't see it at all. He's had 5 months now and I still don't really see any improvement anywhwre on the pitch. No cohesion. No rhythm nothing imo
  8. Gerrard said when he came in... We give the players no excuses by providing them everything... I'm sorry but he has no excuses..with the players he has. Yes we are no world beaters... But at the very least better than he has them playing. This team look nothing more than 11 completely random players turning up to a pitch on a Sunday morning and playing... Get rid... He ain't got it.. I don't want to see the club spend another load of dosh when he ain't getting even a slight tune out the players he has. That's the difference between and good manager/coach and a crap one.. getting a tune out of what you have...
  9. Soooooo the rumour is St Andrews is f****d (we knew this of course!) and they can't repair in its current form. Now I know the general consensus is our ladies team is going into the Alexander Stadium after the games... Has this been confirmed or just a rumour... The reason I ask is I went past the Alex the other day and noticed the seats are a few shades of blue...
  10. Felt it here in Streetly, epicentre was right by the Scott Arms according too this https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000gmts/region-info
  11. 9/10 for me, I'd have rang a Ambulance if on Jan 1st someone had said Emi signing a long deal, Coutinho loan and probably on a permanent in summer and Digne too! Then Olsen and Chambers to add to the squad. A DM would have made it a 10/10. As Gerrard said when he came in... we take away the excuses. That can be applied to him now also, really looking forward to the rest of the season! UTV
  12. And that's for suuuuuuuuuure..
  13. They have also just changed the article completely and it's now just Everton want Longstaff... Romano says he is not going Newcastle too. Interesting!
  14. Question is can we loan them all at the same time? 50/50 at this stage
  15. Yeah he looked decent at the euros, interesting signing
  16. Mykolenko to Everton undisclosed fee
  17. Congratulations my fellow Villa brother!
  18. The festive period has just passed me by this year... havent felt festive at all throughout. A lot of our Christmas events were cancelled because of Omicron spreading so not really been anywhere or done much this year. I usually love christmas, especially because the kids are still at the age they believe and getting to catch up with friends and family over the 2 week break. It's just been a load of stress this year for one reason of another! Happy new year anyway all! I love this place and all the different posters, topics, opinions. This place has it all! Up the Villatalk
  19. Happy new year to all! Just me, the kids and the dog chilling at home tonight with the other half starting work at 11pm! Have a good one whatever your doing
  20. Yeah agreed mate, I want to go personally but because I have the missus and kids plus the fact we are having parents round for Xmas just makes the decision for me. 2-0 Villa win today for me
  21. I've cancelled going this morning.. was in for an afternoon in hospitality too Im just worried that Xmas will be wiped out if I catch it. I know many others who are doing the same also...I'm surprised it's not been called off tbh! I really cant see Boxing day being on the way things are going.
  22. Absolutely horrible reading about this over the past few weeks... I shed tears hearing the recordings of him crying and shouting nobody loves me. I think this is a important thing for the club to do, in supporting and respecting the tributes Blues will be paying to Arthur during their match. R.I.P Arthur
