  1. But he did make it in the PL for a short while with Villa. His goal return was good while playing in a struggling team, especially as that was his first season and he was a young player. I feel like Wes could have been another Ayew. Not that good, but a solid mid table striker to get 10 goals a season.
  2. Ronaldo is an excellent player, that could do a great job in any team in the world. And probably will do for the next 2 seasons. He just plays in a broken team.
  3. See, small cars aren't an issue. There is plenty of small electrics to choose from. 2nd hand market is also growing. I have a young family, and we frequently travel longer distances. I need an estate that's got a long range. And that isn't possible unless I splash £30k. Might settle for a 2nd hand plug in in the next year, depending on the economy, but that's still 5/6k more than an equivalent petrol. But that's not on topic Back to Russia!

    Chelsea

I can think of something more embarrassing, posted just under a year ago; ''Chelsea FC has today joined eleven of Europe’s leading clubs in forming a new mid-week competition, the European Super League.'' https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2021/04/18/club-statement?utm_source=tw&utm_medium=orgsoc&utm_campaign=none It amazes me that supporters of clubs like Chelsea are surprised by anything that the owners decide to do. Last thing they care about is fans, how can anyone think any different?
  5. Really poor. UEFA won't do shit about it.

    Chelsea

Chelsea withdrew the request after discussions with FA. Honestly, do they sit down in the executive lounges, smoke cigars, drink whisky, and think they can do anything? Is there no one in the room to say "boss, this isn't a good idea, maybe we should think about that one?"
  7. They are gonna f it up aren't they?
  8. If it was Elphick playing, that kick would have missed him completely.

    Matty Cash

I said it at the time, but I thought it was a big mistake for the FA to not even talk with him about potentially playing for England. Matty said there was no contact from anyone. And this is coming from a polish guy!
  10. I'd suggest watching Real - PSG. I can call CL badly organised, but last thing I'd call it is a bore.
  11. Discussion of elf skin colour used in a show based on a classic fantasy novel is a fair one. Ron Wesley is ginger. It would be stupid if films made him have dark hair. What isn't fair is saying "this show will be shit because there are black elves". I am strongly against this rhetoric. It would also appear to me that "race" is an important issue of Tolkien's work, especially considering different clans of people and how they relate to each other - this is particularly seen with different kinds of elves. I am 100% looking forward to this. Amazon, please do not disappoint!
  12. My Polish family is a bit split - everyone is backing refugee help, but other than that you have two camps. 1. The hard realists who believe Russia will not attack NATO; 2. The emotional 'motherly' feeling of fear, often equating Russia to the USSR. They are concerned the Putin is a madman and if he wants to he will simply attack anyone. I think the latter group is smaller and more emotion driven.
  13. I hope you are correct - I'm a bit more sceptical about the Russian military 'failure'. From the start I assumed Putin must have some concrete aims and that wasn't necessarily to take over the entire country. This scattered bombardment tactic and sitting back on Kiev might suggest that. In poker terms, I assumed Putin went all in in order to collect a relatively small pot (Donbas Region, Crimea, change of Ukraine Constitution to stop them joining NATO). But on the personal level I prefer your way thinking - I hope Putin is shitting himself and will slowly back down seeing what mess he made.
  14. But isn't he the sort of player to achieve and cement a European place?
  15. There are better ways - but if a sponsor gave us £5m (for example) to put some branding up, I would not be against it. It all adds up, little by little. And even if they called it Adidas Pepsi Max Netflix Stadium, it would still be Villa Park. The only difference is we would likely see better players running around in it.
  16. It's funny how we are in a position where a loss or two brings the relegation thread up, and a win or two brings the European chase hopes up. Neither will likely happen.
  17. Having watched Kędziora on multiple occasions, I would suggest we should (for any reason, but not a footballing one because he isn't a premier league player).
  18. They also had a lot of penalty calls against them - there was a kung fu kick against them during Brighton (don't remember who was involved?) and the famous Ederson incident just before Xmas. I wouldn't say they were that lucky. I guess as the money is pumped in, and as they go up the table, they will likely get more lucky more often.
  19. Question is, when will Russia be not seen as a pariah? Putin probably doesn't plan to go anywhere soon. But that's a side thought, what would have to happen for Russia to be accepted back into footballing establishment by other nations? (Not by FIFA of course, they'd have them playing tomorrow if they could)
  20. That's the problem. Alright is ok for a Crystal Palace/Watford defender. It just isn't good enough for one of the richest clubs in the world, with European aspirations, who decide to make that man a captain.
  21. There is a man called Gareth who will strongly disagree.
  22. No, it's not that - it was a response to the previous post on on BBC breakfast skipping past the topic. I got in the car, chased latest news, and with full seriousness, shock, distress, the presenter broke the most disturbing news - I was thinking they might mention something that happened in Ukraine, I was a bit thrown back. You are correct, the armed robbery should be mentioned. I guess it just put things into perspective when you consider what's happening around the world.
  23. I enjoyed the morning show at BBC WM. 'And now, bringing you the latest breaking, and most disturbing news, it's sad to hear really. A jeweller in Birmingham has been broken into'.
  24. I think exactly the opposite - the fact they are doing a big cover up suggests they are being smart as to not turn the public against them. This is a political conflict as much as a military one, and Putin needs to keep appearances up within his nation. He very well knows what he's doing, even if he fails in his aims miserably. (Which I hope he does, quickly.) If his story is liberation of Ukraine from Nazi occupiers, why would he expose his people to a different picture?
