  1. Whilst the first part is true the second part is wildly inaccurate and shows how the media have ignored the spending of Liverpool. Net spend last 3 seasons combined Liverpool: £91.6m Spurs £8.6m Arsenal: -17.6m Safe to say their lack of performance across the last 2 seasons really is a large failure!
  2. I want every ounce of their personal life strewn across the papers day in, day out for this whole trial. Not because I'm interested and I certainly won't buy the papers running the stories but because I want them to feel just 1/1000th like what the people they violated felt like. I know it's vindictive, but these people have swanned around living the life of luxury off the back of screwing some innocent people over and when found guilty they'll get some cushy prison where they can write a book so the real justice can be served now by the media, the very source they used to inflict their crime
  3. It appears Liverpool having spent shed loads of money are getting nearer to the Top 4. What irks me a little is no-one seems to have noticed just how much money they have spent. The starting 11 must cost close to £150m not to mention the money outlaid on Reina, Carroll, Downing and Aquilani that they haven't recouped hardly any of. But its ok because of the magnificent history of the club and the volume of pundits in the media. Each season it becomes more apparent than ever that the game is about money and nothing more. Sky and Murdoch have a lot to answer for!
  4. Interesting rumour now flying that Haye may be in negotiations to fight Vitali and that he would pull the Fury fight in order to get a title shot! Suspect Tyson Fury might not be best pleased if that did happen!
  5. Personal favourite memory of this match up comes from the game when Bosnich knocked out Klinsmann. Not the German being knocked out but the 70 yards pass along the ground from Staunton to Saunders which Dean cut inside and scored the only goal of the game from
  6. Haye v Fury to be rescheduled for 14 December is what I am hearing, just hope nothing else stops it taking place or will really harm the integrity of British boxing
  7. Skt reporting the following: He was training with sparring partner Filip Hrgovic - a 6ft 6" Croatian - when he was cut, and the wound required six stitches.
  8. About £30m a year more if you count the true spend which is on wages! But don't they earn that from being in the Champions League?
  9. Gary Johnson (Yeovil manager) played against a team managed by his son recently
  10. If you are going to the game and expect Rotherham to play nice football think again. I have seen Steve Evans' team when he was at Crawley and they play ugly football and cheat at every opportunity. Expect diving, timewasting and ridiculous gamesmanship. Steve Evans is completely anti-football and if you look at his past with what happened at Boston he is absolute scum
  11. Chelski are now in advanced talks with Willian. The way the media presented this it was a done deal.
  12. In the last five windows (including this one), we've spent £9m in total, over the same period you've spent £14m! Our turnover is around £185m, your's is around £115m. According to the last published accounts (2012) our wage-bill was £90m, about 55% of turnover at that time, your's was £80m, 87.5%. So we have a higher income, but have spent considerably less on transfers. We do spend more on wages but our income to wage ratio is pretty healthy. We're not finding money, we're just bringing our spending in line with Aston Villa's over the last couple of seasons, This is some truly brilliant accounting or some The Sun reporting Spurs have spent well over £9m in total. I presume this refers to net spend. Turnover can easily be enhanced to whatever you like (ask Peterboro who got their holding company to sponsor the ground to make the top figure on the accounts look a lot higher. Randy Lerner could do the same if he so wished) Spurs wage bill is higher than villa's, see my previous comment RE the fact that the turnover ratio is irrelevant How about you talk bottom line and net profit/losses then you will be comparing apples with apples. I have no idea what profit/losses either club are making but from a business perspective surely it's the only real fair comparative as it encompasses all of the facts above.
  13. I think it's the proceeds from Bentley who they having spent £17m transfer fee on left the club this summer
  14. He lived and went to secondary school around Huntingdon, he recently opened a sports centre there [pedant]
  15. I've heard Spurs are in for Willan (at approx £30m) which would take their spend to £80m! Who says the game isn't about money! Still don't think they are in Man City or Chelsea's league, but this would put them as odds on to make the top 4 in my eyes
  16. From what I hear Higuain was the back up plan should they fail to get Suarez. They talked to the player and were a fair way along the deal but wanted to see if they could get Suarez. Napoli got wind of the situation (most probably from Higuain's agent) and moved quickly to get the deal done. Really sloppy piece of business by Arsenal as the old addage says a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
  17. Almost certainly not, but stranger things have happened. But actually we were talking about challenging, and/or being within 10 points of the winners. Still improbable, but less so. Stranger things used to happen but sadly we are now in the Premier League era whereby the side winning the title will have finished in the top 4 in the prior season. Thanks Sky!
  18. I don't, I don't think you are even close to be being in the running. With or without Bale I don't think Spurs will be within 10 points of the title, probably 15 points or more away. And I think you will finish above the other two so they will be even further behind. It will be a 3 horse race for the title but it won't go to anyone outside those three or even come close to doing. Agree with this. Spurs have spent £52m on 3 players but were more than that off the title IMO. Man City weren't far off the title and have spent in excess of that. Add in the Mourinho factor at Chelsea and Man Utd's consistency. Spurs should focus on finishing above Arsenal, then as top London club and then on the title. If they achieve the simplest of those 3 they will have had an unbelievably good season
  19. You'll find that was Euros not £'s (there is a bit of a difference) and with the lack of interest since it's safe to say the £8m Spurs want (according to his agent) isn't going to be achieved and they will more likely to settle for £5m. I think Spurs will be close to the top 4 if the new striker stays fit and they keep Bale and he stays fit. Failure of either of these and it'll be the same top 4 again with Wilshire like a new signing for Arsenal
  20. Surely Spurs flog Bale and then use half the money to buy Suarez thereby weakening Liverpool and retaining their grip on 5th place. If one of the top 4 has a bad season they might even make the Champions League and be able to attract some big name players
