  1. Sums it up very well, the only thing I would add is that he played 114 times for England and I struggle to name 5 games where he performed at anywhere near the level he did for Liverpool at his peak (which is a good 5+years ago). Fingers crossed Lampard does the same thing. People criticise Heskey but at least he had the balls to call time on his England career to ensure he did not hold back the next generation coming through, sadly Stevie Mee didn't do the same and we have had 2-4 extra years of a past it footballer
  2. All the more reason for Froch to steer clear and get a payday in Vegas then!
  3. I saw Eddie Hearn is trying to make out that it would be good for Froch to fight DeGale next. Is anyone really buying that except for James DeGale?! Froch needs to do one big fight in Vegas and call it a day before his chin gives up and he gets hurt. Fighing DeGale leaves him exposed to another potential Groves fight 1, although less likely as DeGale is probably on par with Groves if not slightly worse. Here's hoping Hearn gets back in his box real soon. On a sidenote is the winner of Fury v Chisora guaranteed a shot at Klitschko or do they just hope so?
  4. Psycho Sid Vicious/Justice has tweeted the same thing so expect this to be about WWE2K15 rather than it actually being about wrestling
  5. Sting tweeted 14/7/14 today (albeit in US form). Read whatever you will into that!
  6. Proud History, short term promises not kept in long term by flash in the pan owner
  7. Personally think tough luck to Liverpool. Players get injured on international duty and this in my eyes is no different. You represent yourself and your club when representing your country, clubs certainly don't refuse bigger fees when someone has had a good world cup. Punishment itself is very light in my opinion, if I'd assaulted people on 3 occasions and racially abused them on another I'd be pleased to have a job/my freedom, as it is he gets a 4 month vacation to enjoy the sponsorship money he will likely still be receiving and then comes back to enjoy European football at the top level. Tough break!
  8. Am staggered by people suggesting England should have got a draw. An understrength Italian side hit post and bar and Jagielka had to clear one off the line. I think the media have egged up England's performance a lot here, the Italians played to their style comfortably (probably not emerging from 3rd gear) and got the job done. If this was Villa people would be saying it was a comfortable win (although such a thing doesn't exist under Lambert)
  9. The part that is frustrating is whenever Gerrard has come up against Pirlo at any level he has been shown to not be in the same league (Benitez moved Gerrard to RB in Istanbul as he realised that he was easily being outperformed!). Good old Woy blindly said you do your best Stevie and lo an behold Pirlo runs the game. FWIW I think Woy can and probably will name the same XI v Uruguay particularly given his comments last night. If Suarez doesn't play they are shit, if he does then we should get at least a draw with a win against Costa Rica most likely sending us through on 4 points. I just hope last night made even the most optimistic person realise that England will not be winning this tournament
  10. I say fair play provided this is the last we see of him. If all of a sudden we see him in the media and crap like that then this is all rubbish and I have no respect at all for him, if he however slips into the background and lives a quiet family life then I have all the respect in the world for him as he has made a difficult choice but one that he feels improves the quality of his life
  11. Apparently Wimbledon have the right to up his seeding based on his performances on grass over past 2 years meaning he may well be seeded as 4 even if he loses to Nadal
  12. Add in token model, token racist and token person of foreign origin and reckon tha'ts half the contestants to begin with
  13. Nah he needs to develop the superman punch to do well in that
  14. Remy has agreed personal terms with Arsenal is latest rumour flying around
  15. Pochettino will be at Spurs for 3 seasons......summer, autumn and winter
  16. Interesting one as Sky reporting £8-10m, whilst BBC saying £4m + add ons
  17. Rumour also flying the Lambert thing is part of Lallana deal Lallana has 25% of fee going to Bournemouth with some people are saying that fee Liverpool pay will be lowered by them paying more for Lambert. Dunno how true that is though
  18. Regards the noisy neighbour, ring the police and tell them you think they may be doing drugs and you thought you heard shouting like there was a scuffle going on. They are then obliged to come out and when they do so will more likely than not ask the person to keep it down.
  19. Mauricio Pochettino likes to play a pressing game with the forwards working hard to get the ball back. Safe to say Emmanuel Adebayor is on the way out then!
  20. How much better football would've been if Sky/any other rich company hadn't got involved
  21. If we're having videos in this world cup thread, no world cup thread is complete without this piece of commentary:
  22. Pie I would guess and not strudel
  23. You might not respect them in the ring but outside they do some amazing things.
  24. If the person posting this was sensible surely he'd/she'd post different predictions on different sites to save face and give him/herself some type of arbitrage situation
  25. Who in their right mind will support one of these B teams? When (and it is when) the teams all get to the 2nd tier everybody will be watching the team in the top tier or the team they already support (i.e. Walsall) all this means is that eventually the Championship will be full of B teams who no-one supports. If this gets voted through it's the final straw. Here's hoping that like the 39th game bullshit a few years back it gets poo pooed. Although the big boys with their money and interest in this means it may happen. The death of the lower leagues and the FA Cup may well follow, here's hoping the top 5 or 6 piss off and form their super league before they rot the game right to the core
