  1. For fans who were in VP Saturday - did it feel like the whole ground was jeering and booing at FT? It came across on tv like everyone was in unison.
  2. Belief in the team and manager was sky high with a full preseason, but we look worse than Man Utd before they played Liverpool. It feels like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had more tactical nouse than SG! Given the dross and cluelessness so far this season. Poch would be incredible. I just can't see him wasting the same group of players. Plus, we'd keep Bailey!
  3. I'm always intrigued by players being called lazy. What exactly about Ismaila Sarr makes him lazy?
  4. Wait, so given the immeasurable contempt you have for journalists, does this mean you never read papers, watch the news, or indeed ingest new and contemporaneous information on society at large?
  5. The shiny new thing is always best in football transfers.
  6. I wouldn't begrudge anyone from leaving but apparently Dortmund had an amazing deal in place. Those bible bashers advising him must have had a new altar in mind and directed him towards Chelsea. Go to Dortmund, tear up the Bundesliga if you're as good as you reckon - then you get the big money deal and likely guarantee a starting spot. Bellingham has proved that you can get into the England squad from Germany. I hope this kid isn't throwing away his future.
  7. Which is totally normal for some one in the workplace. These lot are on tv, so it's an intentional prop added by SSN producers.
  8. At least SG said he is pushing for a start now. If Phil is cramping after an hour and his replacement gets a goal and plays well, surely it's time for PC to start off the bench.
  9. How about the PA that is screaming "put a pen in your hand" over their earpieces. To trick the 16 year olds who believe SSN is gospel, putting a pen in the hand of anyone speaking so they appear like an intellectual. I give you exhibit A. Two men, standing without desks and with no paper in sight, but they have the pens. So they're smart, and are in no way lying. Don't think that this is limited to SSN, you'll find this repeated in any bad talk show or game show on any trashy tv - ITV and Sky (are very guilty of this). This is how low of an opinion tv companies have of their viewers.
  10. Yo it's tomorrow in Sydney and it still remains dark as night!
  11. Just got a chance to watch the extended Rennes highlights. He's a commanding thoroughbred defender. I'll admit I didn't know too much about him before signing for us but he looks something very special. He may join Luiz as another "good for a card" player but there won't be much getting past him. It may not seem like much, but he also just has that intimidating killer look about him.
  12. Xavi as manager working with a progressive team with youth now at its core (Pedri, Puig, Fati). It's literally the best time to join if you're an unproven but admired youth prospect. Though I doubt that's where he ends up.
  13. Your classic goal-hanger suffices. This reminds me of the Alex Ferguson quote on Pippo Inzaghi "that lad must have been born offside"
  14. No it isn't. In Sydney for work and it is a cold 13 degrees. It has been stormy af recently too.
  15. Having a somewhat socially considered viewpoint and being viewed as an assumed Labor (UK) or similar voter makes one an immediate "Leftist/Leftie" and some how unwashed. Not being consistently hateful isn't a bad thing and the irony of the "woke" casting net, is that it already suggests a level of being asleep to society at large.
  16. Those videos remind me of how much I hated Liverpool Gerrard and perhaps had an immature head on me skewed my appreciation of opposition players. Had he been Spanish or Argentine and played in Italy, I am certain I would have fawned over his skills. But as a Villa manager, I **** love him. Funny how the world turns.
  17. The amount of money that a loan fee + wages off the books saves a club, is pretty significant. Add in trigger clauses and bonuses being avoided and in fact loans are hugely beneficial to clubs. Sevilla aren't going under, but their losses as not nearly as easily written off as a PL club. https://sevillafc.es/en/actual/newss/accounts-annual-passed-2021
  18. I guess the biggest downside to signing Neymar would be that as a club, we see no issues with incest!
  19. Extremely hard working centre back. When he eft Ireland as a young fella it was with a glowing work ethic.
  20. Turkish businesses with international dealings have been operating in Euro and USD for years. They likely pay their Turkish non-playing and ancillary staff in Lira but it really shouldn't be a major concern. Plus a bit of corruption here and there can always force deals through.
  21. It's Southampton he should peace out to.
  22. My one directional bromance with this man is real. 3:45 - "You know you're gonna get hit, I don't care if I get hurt"

    The NSWE Board

Historically you are correct but North American demographics have shifted considerably in the last 30 years. Football is the fastest growing sport in Canada and hugely aspirational in the major population centres of the US. Cities closer to their southern border, consequently influenced and populated by immigrants have the fastest growing teams. They are also reasonably successful which in itself is turning the MLS on its head somewhat. I don't see this being an enormous shift or having a massive effect on Villa in the short term but it is worth considering that Canada, Mexico and principally the US, are hosting the 2026 World Cup. It makes great business sense for NSWE as a well executed MLS strategy has become a license to print money.
  24. Man I hated Gerrard as a player so much. He was everything I hated about a club (LFC) that I still have very little time for. But I think I might be like him now. There's just something about him, he's our bastard now?
