  1. He's so much better than Tchouaméni it's criminal. (€80 -100 million transfer from Monaco to R Madrid). They're only 2 months in age apart and play the same DM role.
  2. He spoke about consistency himself in his post match interview. Fingers crossed.
  3. I love this man, I hope we get another year out of him. How he managed to play 98 mins is beyond me. So solid.
  4. Helped really kill the game off, his touch is still there, went looking for that kick in the head too (it was soft) but that's all experience.

    Unai Emery

I feel like one of the other things the Sultan of Unai has imparted on the team is game management. Be a little dirty, slow the game down, employ some gamesmanship, standing in front of frees and throw-ins, just being generally a lot nastier than usual. It's not popular, it's rarely attractive but it helped drag the arse out of the extra 7-8 minutes,
  6. How the f*** does Boubacar Kamara play for us. He's working on another level.

Take a bow sir, that is amazing

9 points from United, Brighton, Liverpool and Spurs isn't a new manager bounce, it's pure coaching. The squad was always decent, we just had a completely inept manager. Emery is simply top class and he's barely had a shake off it yet. It is so hard not to be excited.
  9. A coaches dream and perhaps, a dream coach for us. So professional, so fit, totally and utterly clued in. Watching that last 10-20 mins I though that between himself and Coutinho - you could see the experience. Hoof when necessary, slow it down when necessary and chase when appropriate. Zero substitute for experience.
  10. The bullshitometer cannot cope.
  11. He strikes me as a big fish in small pond with a big payday in Europe ahead of him. If I was 30 and could land a relatively "soft" big contract in Spain or Ligue 1, I'd give B6 a skip.
  12. Aston Villa athletics team? He might be a good lad for the 110m hurdles!
  13. The grief Zaha gets is the biggest pile of shite known to man. He gets kicked up and down the pitch every week, his attitude and work rate are great, scores worldies for fun and has shown serious loyalty as be rebuilt his career. He's head and shoulders above anyone playing in a Villa jersey right now. I'd caution it's his skin colour that catalyses so much of the abuse and ridicule he receives. Mings faces the same baseless garbage from opposition fans, he's an easy target and yet statistically makes less errors leading to goals than Tarkowski, Coleman, Michael Keane & Ben Godfrey. Don't think I'm calling anyone racist, but the pattern of questioning the attitude, aptitude and application of black players is painfully transparent and fundamentally lazy.
  14. Villaverse, love it. Is it as poorly animated as the Metaverse? No, it simply couldn't be.
  15. Every single one of them has scored 20 or more PL goals. I never for a second mentioned anything about them being amazing, you were just factually incorrect.
  16. There's still plenty of time to delete this post and pretend it never happened.
  17. If I may be so bold, that's still soon enough for him to pass a medical elsewhere in January. For me he's on the bus with McGinn, both are better than good squad players, but neither appeals in the long term. I don't doubt Phil's ability to win a game, but it's so rare, I can't be arsed.
  18. His two best games have come in the last three games under two different coaches. He's a pace merchant who needs freedom and encouragement. Given what we now know about SG as a manager and a coach, it's no wonder he struggled.

Got into Villa cos my Grandad, up at his place watching the Coca Cola cup final against Manure. He'd have enjoyed that one today. UE is already having a clear affect on this team. They're looking up and looking around - I screamed look up and Olly squared it to Ramsey. His natural jnclination is is to shoot in that position even though the angle is acute.

Emery is Basque, those were his first words!

The language obsession must surely just be a British thing right? Emery speaks multiple languages, as do a plethora of our players and coaches, yet over and over again - language ability is raised.

Not sure I've ever seen such a feel good factor when in 16th position

Emery has a strong accent but his standard of English is excellent.

His honeymoon period feels like it's gone on forever, just wait til he starts winning. We're gonna run outta superlatives real fast lads! The more I think about how much he's gonna improve the younger lads too, just knuckle down, listen to the man and the sky could be the limit for some fellas. This is a real footballing coach.

Just watching the Emery interview, his style of speaking is very intentional. He kinda rolls most sentences up into a crescendo but watching him talk about Villa and his love for football, you see that beaming smile that cannot be faked.
