  1. I think you're well off the mark here, I'm from Cork and he just sounds like any old fella from there. Legitimately I sometimes think I'm listening to my own father, or my friend's, though he's a wee bit young for that. If you think it's manufactured, I feel really sorry for you.
  2. At this rate we may need to rebrand as Racing Club Atlético de Villa
  3. Bang average but, so what? Prefer him to be fresh for next season after a strange and long 20/21, followed by his lay off with injury. You have to remember, these lads likely have the WC next year too. It's non stop football.
  4. Sadly, once you see it, it can never be unseen. For those of a nervous disposition, DO NOT PRESS PLAY.
  5. Joshua Kimmich has created as many goals as Jack from a defensive position. Coman has matched his output but played far less, Sancho scored more but with nearly identical time played, Oyarzabal beats all of these players in goals + assists. Small sample size and all different players even if they do occupy similar positions. I'd have Jack over anyone with my Villa hat on, but I don't have the England blinkers Jack is probably the most complete midfielder, save for maybe Kimmich but he's also the most defensively minded.
  6. I'd love to view life through such an optimistic shade of rose! He's really, really good but be a shade realistic with yourself too!
  7. Fair play to the Russians, they have expressed the fact that booing the knee is really just about being racist pigs, far better than any poster here ever could.
  8. Ooooff, missed opportunity alert! "And you'll get smoked and I hope that yer fans understand" This is a definite nod to our friends in the UAE Airlines North London attaché.
  9. The thing that really irks me is whether it was Kaepernick and NFL players or footballers, that folks take issue with kneeling. I cant think of a more elegant and considered variation on protesting. It makes the person vulnerable and still shows respect. Humans however never fail to surprise and gammon can never quite be overcooked it seems.
  10. Great to see sórt of normalcy. Even if all the scariest things about BLM are true it gives me a proper giggle. What's the first thing you reckon they'll topple? Capitalism seems unlikely, surely the patriarchy will be much easier... It's a scary left social agenda that weaves the injustics of society into a vomit sandwich for some. BLM, the scary revolutionaries in the corner are coming for your gammon. Even in a world where the purpose has been explicitly stated, the players are still in the wrong?! Just like with Kaepernick, they never disrespected the flag, they were opposing police violence against African Americans. That got lost in the ether along the way. The problem isnt the booing, it's the racism.
  11. Thing is though, it isn't remotely controversial. Repeatedly stating that it is controversial by right wing media has made it so.
  12. The chant is waiting around the corner -
  13. As an Irish Villa fan I have felt a deep gnawing confliction due to Jack's flirtation with an Irish international cap. As he improved over the years that pining for an elegant Irish midfielder subsided into pure delight at what we as Villa fans have. I'm not at VP nor do I have that "on the street" vibe of how people feel Jack's future goes but I can't help but consistently feel non-plussed by every story related to him. It's as if everyone needs a story to write and the truth be damned, they'll write it anyway. There hasn't been a peep out of Aston Villa, Jack or Dean Smith regarding his future. It's almost as if the meedjah are intent on unsettling their nations brightest young talent. Then you consider actual facts. Aston Villa are now one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, Grealish is captaining his boyhood club and looks likely to lead them to European football in the next couple years, who has 80-120 million pounds, he's finally getting the high quality team mates as support, the club is going in one direction, he'll never be refused a reasonable contract extension/bump in wage, did I mention DS is manager? Perhaps I have finally reached the point in my life where I am Teflon to tabloid links, to sh8tters like ESPN FC trying to use the Buendia signing as nigh on confirmation of his impending exit. I don't know, I've never been so irritated by the blatant lies in football media than I am this summer. And it's only a couple weeks old. "Jack Grealish's Future" feels like fodder for kids, the naive and the stupid. For reference, on the "I'm Irish but it hurts scale": Declan rice can get f**ked!
  14. This was created a week or so ago, with only a smattering of the obvious and unlikely.
  15. Only kids on Twitter think Grealish is going anywhere. Daily Heil and other chronic red top bullshit merchantry may try to squeeze every last iota out of the rumour but we've multi-billionaire owners, he's going nowhere. In fact I'd be surprised if he doesn't get offered improved terms this summer.
  16. Wood, King, Wilson - a trifecta of the ordinary. If we're as bullish as the talk of signing JWP and usurping Arsenal for Buendia, then I'd up the price tag and include Danny Ings.
  17. I don't care how but unbeaten should be the aim. My preference is of course wins peppered with draws. I think the Leeds game, irrespective of result will help us away to Arsenal, so that game likely sets the tempo. Over 10 points from a reasonably challenging run as such, means we're no joke, looking well up that table through to Xmas and potentially much further on. Remember we have little external baggage in a strange time. Being in Europe this, of all seasons, is incredibly detrimental. Make hay while this bizarre hay shines. I now look forward to scraping 4 points out.
  18. Folks it's a heavy thread and I'm feeling a shade lazy - what are the terms to this loan? Fee + option to buy? Early days for buying but temptation is a killer.
  19. Inherited Villa fandom from my recently passed Grandfather, I know though as Cork City break out hearts in Ireland, he'd look down and enjoy today. Incredible
  20. Backed with a fortune for the Championship of that era, or at the very least some bizarre player ponzi scheme from Udinese.
  21. We could give it to a duck at this stage, just see how things go.
  22. Depth charts make a welcome change to last season's depth charges.
