  1. Bit of Martin Laursen about him. Hope he gets us a few goals this season.
  2. Has there ever been an issue with Sanson? I haven't noticed any change in attitude with him - and I mean that as I didn't think there was any issue with his attitude last season. Did Gerrard comment on his attitude changing like he did Bailey?
  3. Agreed this time last year things were looking pretty ominous for them with Hodgson leaving and a load of a senior players leaving on frees. How they've rebuilt has been very impressive.
  4. Lol - if you only get to have two things in your locker goals and penalties are probably what you'd go for. Not sure CR7 offered ManUre much more last season.
  5. As a slight alternative to this - which three former players would you sign in real time? As in current players not historical ones. Grealish is obviously a shoe-in. Maybe Idrissa Gueye or Vertout? Gollini? Adama Traore? Shows our current trajectory when there's barely three players we've sold recently that we'd have back.
  6. Conor Gallagher all day for me. He'd probably be a record signing for us but based on last season it would be pretty low risk compared to the others.
  7. It's not like they were both playing non-league football in eastern Europe when the scouts noticed them....
  8. Lange will surely have an input on who comes in. He obviously can't force a coach on Gerrard but he'll be pushing for someone who will help realise the club's (and his) investment in Bailey and Traore.
  9. It's a bit cliched but I suspect McAllister is the nice guy conduit between the players and Gerrard. Beale obviously was the tactician.
  10. The pool of players that you would currently say this about seems to be quickly getting smaller and smaller. If Tolisso was that good Bayern would've tried to extend his contract. If we wanted him I think we'd get him no problem.
  11. Wonder is the plan to bring in Bissouma to put Coutinho beside him in the midfield as two No.8s with Kamara in front of the defence, which gets Buendia and Countinho on the pitch together?
  12. Neither does Paolo Maldini. Don't know whether it's just the UK media but I've never seen a technical director get so much credit for a club winning a title and the manager not even being mentioned. I saw Ibra thanking Maldini in his dressing room speech and he never even mentioned Pioli.
  13. Purslow and Lange have to be involved in footballing decisions as it's their job to represent the owners' best interests. If they give full authority to Gerrard and we have another O'Neill type scenario they'll be blamed and probably shown the door.
  14. Seems to be throwing the players under the bus in his interview. Don’t understand why he keeps picking them then. It’s not like we don’t have options.
  15. He’s struggling big time against top half managers. Bit of a worrying ceiling being defined.
  16. I disagree - there's quality there when he's fit. He proved himself as real threat up front this time last year. Lange will have a big say in who stays and who goes and won't want to make a loss on any of his signings. There's no reason why both Traore and Bailey shouldn't be considered for Ings' and Watkins' place in the team.
  17. Word around the campfire is that Rangnick wants Ruben Neves. He mightn’t be there this summer mind you…. If they went for Phillips we should go after neves. He wouldn’t even have to move house.
  18. Southgate name-checked Cash as one he's been watching closely a couple of times in his interviews over the past 18 months - so he wasn't that far away from a call-up. Southgate has also called up 3 or 4 RBs to recent squads .
  19. You'd be surprised at how quickly players' stock can rise and fall. There's every chance Cash could've jumped above either of the them in the next year or two. Look at Dele Alli, Phil Jones, Ruben Loftus Cheek, even Rashford.
  20. I think Coutinho and Grealish are similar enough in terms of their physical talents, but Coutinho's footballing brain makes him a much better player. Very few have the brains and the skills to go together.
  21. I remember when we first signed McGinn there was talk that it was to replace Grealish (who was supposedly off to Spurs) because he played a similar role for Hibs. Pretty sure Bruce used him as a winger or else off the striker. It's mad how we've all just become used to him as a deeper midfielder now. Maybe he should be challenging Coutinho or Buendia for one of their spots or else replacing them off the bench.
  22. If we stay up by the skin of our teeth, then I think we should go and get Rodgers. It's clear it's best for both of them for him to walk away from Leicester at the end of the season. He's not likely to win us the title and it'll probably end similar to how it's ending with Leicester but he knows how to get teams into the top 6. If we could get 3 seasons of that I'd be all over it. He would be far lower risk than SG was and is also likely to get the best out of Coutinho.
  23. It’s only been smith and Gerrard with the vast majority of this squad - it’s not like we’ve burned through a 5/6 managers with these players. Do we have any players in the squad who were here under Bruce? These players have shown both managers that they are good enough. It’s up to the manager to get consistently good performances out of them.
  24. Goes back to the DM role again. Playing Bailey at right wingback makes sense if we’ve either 3 centre backs or else 2 centre backs and a midfielder right in front of them.
  25. If his system is so reliant on what Nakamba brings then surely the first player he should’ve signed should’ve been someone as close to Nakamba as possible. Even just on loan. It wouldn’t have cost £50m to replace Nakamba.
