And even though he's now with us, I'd say Jenas was pretty overrated as he frequently popped up in England squads while at Spurs. Only decent spell I think he had was when Ramos took over.

The most obvious one at Spurs to me is Thuddlestone. Yeah o.k he hits a couple of nice 50 yard balls during the game but he'll never be top class simply because he's too immobile.

Imagine Spain were jet lagged given they probably didn't leave England until Sunday.

Turkey are in major transition now. Croatia are a little bit but have far and away the better individuals like Modric. Fair play to the Czechs, thought they were very ordinary in Scotland's group but 2-0 is an excellent result to take to Montenegro.

Warnock is a better full back than Hutton but yeah he is prone to some pretty poor clangers, usually diving in and giving away needless free kicks.

I'm worrying that the right side of our defence (Collins and Hutton) is going to get found out massively against the pace we'll be facing in the next 6 weeks. It wasn't great on saturday, Norwich got through that side more often than the left.

He's still got ages left on his contract so that would increase his valuation rather than the year Young and Barry both had left on their deals.

Agreed, he was decent. Just annoying to me he constantly tries to beat 2-3 players all the time instead of just shooting a bit quicker.

Well Beye will finally go in the summer, Carlos will aswell and hopefully Heskey. Roughly those three combined maked 150k a week so that's automatically 7m a year off the wage bill and I'd argue those three you don't really need to replace, certainly not Beye!

Correct you could argue he's done a great job keeping Wigan up these last two seasons. Without N'zogbia and with Rodallega not looking interested, they have no chance of stopping up this season.

He has got to three finals in the last 4 seasons though, coming second to Barca is no shame imo. And I was going to suggest his achievements at Aberdeen maybe indicated to Manure they were worth being patience with him?

The less said about his 5 second contribution at RB before the 2nd goal the better. Still might have had a goal at the end if N'zog had passed earlier.

Didn't he start in the cup against Bolton? I can't see him being here next season, I think he'll ask to leave in the summer tbh. As long as Bent and Gabby are here he'll always be behind those two and now Weimann is challenging him.

Never had a problem with them, decent club. I do think MON will be their next manager though!

He was better yesterday. But just wish he'd shoot quicker instead of trying to go past 2-3 defenders all the time. He'll come good though I'm sure of it.

Cabaye would've been Petrov's replacement I reckon and from what he's shown so far at Newcastle, a very good replacement. Weren't we in for Gago from Real Madrid aswell? I wanted Houllier gone at the end of the season and it's a pointless debate as his health didn't allow him to continue but when I wanted him out, I really didn't expect we'd wind up with McDraw.

Pav is such a flaky footballer though. Some games it seems like he's barely on the pitch. The truth is we signed Bent at the wrong time. In the MON team of 2009 when we were playing 4-4-2 and Young and Milner were the wide players and whipping crosses in, he'd have scored a hatful, Im amazed MON never went for him as I reckon we could've got 4th in 09-10 with a little more firepower. Easy to say it now but given Downing was a) injured until Xmas and fecked off when the going got tough, we shouldn't have signed him and should've put that 12m plus a little more to match Sunderland's bid at the time.

Basically Jenas was Makoun's replacement in the squad and look how that is turning out!

He played most of pre season. Really surprised we let him go, he showed some potential and I just thought it was a case of someone from a foreign league taking 6 months or so to get used to the pace.

I thought Bruges were decent, didn;t they beat Braga away in their last game? WTF are they doing losing to that shower?!

Mellberg ahead of Dunne aswell, maybe Bouma in there aswell. I still maintain if we'd signed Bent anytime from 2007- January 2010 we would've finished in the top 4 with the production from the midfield we had at the time.

Makoun would've been no worse than Delph has been since August if he'd have stayed.

Strange, WM said Wolves were in the game for most of it and had some good chances. Not sure why it's fallen apart so quickly there after a promising start to the season, mick messing around with the team again?
