  1. That's shocking, given that they've got players like Dummett, Longstaff, Lascelles etc who won't even be earning half of that. What the hell are the paying Isak, Tonali, Bruno etc. Madness.
  2. "Ok, this is the photo for the official website... the facial expression we want for is for you to look like an Under 8's coach that probably hasn't been safety checked"
  3. I wouldn't be unhappy with Zaha - we could do worse
  4. 32 teams left and probably only 4 PL teams out. Could do with an "easier" game whilst they're still available
  5. Good question. I'd like to know myself, seeing as I meant to put 5
  6. HAWAY MAN IT'S COZ OV ALL THE INJURIES WHAV HAD YA NA. WE'RE NAE COCKY, WE'RE THE BEST FANS IN THE LAND - WE'LL SHOUT AT WOR LADS FOR NAE PASHUN AT BOURNEMOUTH MIND, EH? TOON TOON BARMY ARMY. NUMBA NIIIINE
  7. I'm increasingly leaning towards this point of view. We certainly havent seen anything so far to suggest that we should spend £30m on him. I appreciate he's had off-field issues on top of trying to settle into a new country, but his performances have veered between frustratingly average and looking like he's had his feet removed and reattached the wrong way around.
  8. If there's any truth to the rumours about his attitude then that's a game changer, but from an on-field perspective I think we might regret selling him at this point - I really think he's got something
  9. The replacement will show the proof of ambition these clown owners claim to have. Someone like Cooper isn't going to take that job unless he's got absolute guarantees that they're not there to mess about. Schumacher might have been a decent bet but he's gone to Stoke now. They seem to be expecting a Big Name, so whoever it is will probably be on a hiding to nothing. I'm going to go for some left-field foreign lad that none of them have heard of. Or Lampard. Please be Lampard.
  10. I believe we could win it, in so much as we're part of a group of 6 teams who are mathematically/logically likely to do so. If we had the squad depth that Man City and to a lesser extent Liverpool have then I'd think we've got as good a chance as either of them and an injury free Arsenal, but I think we'll either need to keep everyone magically fit and fresh or sign 2 or 3 players who can immediately slot in and don't need to learn our system. Realistically even from our current position, anything above 7th (i.e Europa League qualification) is success/progress. Problem is, if we ended up 5th/6th now then it's going to have a negative taint attached to it because we're 2nd in the middle of January. Perspective is a great thing, lets not lose it. The very fact we can dream and even have this thread is a testament to the manager, owners and players
  11. As true as this will be, some of them haven't played in a long time - they wont be match fit. If we hit them the way we did at Villa Park last season we can blow them away again
  12. Newcastle's commitment to fouling as much as possible is admirable
  13. Ref's lost his mind here - how on earth is that not a yellow for Joelinton again? Klopp will want a replay at this rate
  14. I can see Newcastle mugging 1-0 here
  15. Joelinton not going to get booked for throwing the guy to the ground there? Ridiculous
  16. Think Boro will make a lot of changes and try to have a proper go at Chelsea on the Tuesday, so I'd expect us to win - this won't be against a Stevenage-playing-in-the-game-of-their-lives opposition. They'd probably quite happily lose and concentrate on keeping players fit to try and move towards the playoffs. Marschall / Olsen Cash - Carlos - Lenglet - Moreno Zaniolo - Iroegbunam - Kamara - Ramsey Diaby - Duran Konsa may play, as I think he's suspended at Everton? McGinn, Luiz, Watkins, Bailey, Pau all on the bench if we're struggling after an hour. 1-2 Villa
  17. Wouldn't that be 2nd placed Ipswich though?
  18. Difficult to pick again this year, but finally for the right reasons! Torn between Luiz, Konsa, Bailey, Martinez and McGinn. Konsa gets us out of so many scrapes, so he just stole it from Luiz.
  19. Noddy Holder Ozzy Osbourne Sir Alex Ferguson Diana Ross Edwina Currie
  20. I saw the Chelsea thing somewhere a couple of days ago Edit: there you go, posted above
  21. No. Arsenal will go top today if they win but don't play again until after we play Everton. Man City don't play again until the same weekend as Arsenal
  22. If Liverpool don't beat Newcastle then we'd go top for at least a week if we beat Everton
  23. 3 points is 3 points, although the penalty was... fortunate... The amount of chances we missed probably means we just about deserved to win. We've got through a tough and busy month with Bournemouth away, Man City, Arsenal, a trip to Bosnia and Brentford away in 15 days, then a 4 day gap to Sheffield Utd, Man Utd away and Burnley in 8 days. Our record is P8 W4 D3 L1 - we're 2nd/3rd in the league, comfortably into the Last 16 in Europe. We're back to 1 game a week now, with the chance to reset and time on the training pitch between games, as well as getting a couple of players back fit and give a mini break to some players next weekend before an actual break after Everton (at least 1 week depending on whether or not we win at Boro). Drink it in
