  1. Will they get 500k in Burton's tiny stadium on a Tuesday night thought? Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate
  2. Is that because the letters and words aren't all in the correct order?
  3. No thanks. Firstly, our U21s have struggled a bit in that and the inbreds would treat that as a win over Aston Villa, regardless of the lineup. Secondly, I dont want our youngsters subjected to that atmosphere. Still, League One is going to be fun for them - not as easy to come straight back as they'll assume - took Derby a couple of seasons, Bolton and Portsmouth ended up in League Two and didn't get back out of League One for a couple of seasons after promotion. You'd imagine Huddersfield will be strong, Steve Evans will get Rotherham going, Barnsley have Championship experience, Wrexham should be strong. Not a cakewalk to get promotion next year when you factor that in plus the high turnover of players, possibly a new manager as well... less TV money, less attendances (if that's possible). Bring it on
  4. Wont happen, but I wondered last night if we'd take advantage of having an advantage over Spurs and rest some players for this ahead of the 2nd leg - I think quite a few would benefit from a week between games. Olsen Konsa, Carlos, Torres, Munroe Iroegbunam Luiz Diaby Rodgers Zaniolo Duran Gives Digne, McGinn, Bailey and Watkins a rest, whilst taking no chances with Martinez and Tielemans.
  5. I sort of hope they beat Norwich easily, only for a late, late goal elsewhere to send them down. I want to see fans crying, none of this 4-0 down after an hour and they'll all just leave. I want it to be as devastating as possible for them.
  6. I was in the Trinity, and a guy a few rows behind us was absolutely tearing into McGinn every time he misplaced a pass (so quite often...). F'ing this and C that - bad language doesnt bother me whatsoever, but thats our bloody captain - he's the embodiment of our progress in the last few seasons, yet he has a terrible game and someone just thinks "nah, this guy deserves all my fury and vitriol" I'm assuming that guy wasn't there when we had players who couldn't have given less of a toss that were being relegated or bumbling about in the Championship, because he'd have combusted.
  7. I didn't think initially that the 2nd or 4th were on him, but he definitely should have done better for the 2nd - he runs in a completely straight line and gives their striker every chance to knock it to his left/keepers right. He assumed he'd take it first time and looked daft when he spotted Olsen and just nodded it left. He then compounded that by diving at the wrong height. 4th goal is tough as deflections are so hard to stop, but why on earth is he trying to fist that (insert Kenneth here)? If he'd used his hand he'd have got more on it and pushed it up/wider. Be interesting if we wrap up 4th this weekend if Gauci gets a go in the Palace game - be a bit unfair to throw him in against Liverpool, but that may be an indication that Olsen isn't seen as #2 next season. I don't see where we'd ship him off to mind you.
  8. Rocking last night. The 1874 groups' claret and blue cards looked beautiful. Couldn't work out how to upload a video, so I've uploaded it onto my Twitter. If that isn't allowed then apologies in advance (don't see why it wouldn't be, but still...) - please dont attempt to follow me, I dont actually post or interact on there
  9. Apparently when Bissouma was questioned by police a couple of seasons ago, he was detained in Cell Block H
  10. How fickle they are - they only won the league 6 months ago!
  11. What was with the attempted karate chop in the 2nd half? Was closing someone down in their left back area and appeared to attempt to "haaai-yaah" him in the back of the head Would have been subbed after an hour (and he'd have been lucky to get those 15 minutes 2nd half) if we had available players.
  12. Definitely the most bizarre game I've attended, and one of the most bizarre I've ever seen. We were generally pretty dreadful from the moment they went 1-0 ahead, thanks to some absolutely incredulous officiating and some equally baffling idiocy from our own players. We lost our minds a bit at 0-2 and did at least show some fortitude to get back level only for the penalty to knock the stuffing out of every Villa affiliate in the stadium. The 4th goal was just... Villa. I've never known a team concede so many heavily deflected goals, it's incredible. I wasn't unimpressed by Olympiakos, but how they've scored 4 goals tonight is beyond me. They're decent enough, but not as good as Lille who ran rings around us. I suspect we won't turn this around because we'll get 90 minutes of "ouch, the wind has blown me over" and other equally frustrating antics but it equally wouldn't surprise me if we went there and beat them 3-0. I'd add that this team lost 4-1 at home to Maccabi Haifa 2 months ago... As an aside, we did all have a laugh when the crowd were screaming murder at their keeper for time-wasting and pissing about when the opposition have a penalty...
  13. Managed to sneak a posh seat for this, as a friend of a friend dropped out. Can't wait, mainly for the atmosphere as the away fans weren't allowed in at the last one I went to... I assume Greek fans are mental, yet well-behaved?
  14. Be a nice change for him to be given the piss rather than him taking it...
  15. I think we've seen since January that the key for us is quality of depth. We were fortunate last year that the risk of selling Ings and hoping Watkins didn't get injured whilst Duran was settling in paid off. We've not been so fortunate this year with letting Dendoncker leave and hoping Tim would slot in. Our central midfield has been ravaged with unavailability since the Man Utd game, and we've struggled at right back too. Left side midfield hasnt been a problem because we've been fortunate that Rogers has settled in quickly. A holding midfielder is crucial, as Kamara wont be back until winter, and the game of Luiz has dropped off a cliff since covering in that role. The lack of minutes for Tim and KKH is telling, so that will be our academy sales for this summer
  16. It's not the best, but surprised no-one has mentioned Friday Night Dinner yet. One Foot In The Grave is underrated too
  17. Anyone know why the Brugge-Fiorentina 2nd leg is being played on the Wednesday?
  18. Also worth noting that Spurs-Man City is also Man City's game in hand - they're currently 4 points behind with 2 games in hand and a worse GD. They need to beat Spurs to go ahead as things stand
  19. Defensively they've been absolutely faultless, they've used the ball well when they've (rarely) had it.
  20. Just to clarify my own point... That'd leave the table at Villa 36 70 Spurs 35 61 We'd mathematically need a point, but goal difference would be hugely in our favour. That's before Spurs needing to beat Man City
