  1. If it really is 6m for both, it would appear that Monchi may not be the great wheeler dealer we had hoped for.
  2. He should only be moved on if we are buying someone better, or if it is financially better. Otherwise keep him. He is a very good player.
  3. If we are moving on the best of our youngsters, then clearly it is our intention not to hang around, but to buy immediate success. And I am all right with that. We need success, and quickly, to keep Emery and our best players. And I want success now; I have had too many years in the doldrums.
  4. 17.45 on a Wednesday evening? Seems like a strange time?
  5. As easy a game as we will have all season. McGinn MOM.
  6. Whatever the reason, he is just not good enough.
  7. He is a great manager, and we are lucky to have him, but, let's face it, tonight's result is a blot on his copybook. The road ahead may be a little more rocky and longer than we anticipated.
  8. We started badly and got worse. A well-deserved kick up the arse for the team and manager, which may hopefully be beneficial in the long run.
  9. Ramsey, Morena and now Buendia, that's 3 big holes in the squad.
  10. So is the Academy really only for FFP purposes?
  11. Watkins has no confidence when it comes to penalties. Surely Luiz would be better.
  12. We really must move on from this selling mentality. We can now afford to keep players to see how good, or otherwise, they are. We don't need to sell off our better prospects to make ends meet.
  13. He was the standout player for Boro last season. You must have very high standards.
  14. Good idea. Sell the crown jewels of the academy.
  15. It will be a worry if Olsen plays in the cups as we would really like to have good cup runs.
  16. He seems to have been around a long time, but has improved remarkably last season and is carrying that into preseason. He deserves a chance, and going by Emery's remarks, he will get it next season. I would not be surprised if he leapfrogs Bailey, and he has already surpassed Traore in our squad. He is an exciting player, one who gets bums off seats, and I would not be surprised if he becomes a crowd favourite.
  17. You should have given us that choice. That would have been mine and also what I think will actually happen.
  18. Archer has not been playing with the first teamers around him. He comes on when the team has been weakened and is disorganised. Part of pre season is supposed to be about allowing the manager to make decisions on certain players. Emery knows what Watkins can do, surely it would be an idea to start Archer with the first teamers to get a definitive answer to Archer's abilities.
  19. We were so close it's a bit of a shame we did not go all out to get the, admittedly rather pointless trophy. Looked to me like we could have done it with being slightly more careful with our substitutes.
  20. Watkins was having such a stinker, it was surprising that he did not bring on Archer earlier.
  21. Wow. He really is rapid. And he is one of those guys where the ball seems to stick to his feet.
  22. He needs to start games with our better players around him to properly assess him. He is a striker. Other outfield positions, you can to some extent assess a player, but not a striker. He needs players around him who will provide chances for him. Then you can assess him better.
  23. I am not saying that a back up keeper should have all the attributes, but another important difference is that Martinez is a sweeper keeper, Olsen seems to stick pretty much to his line.
