  1. Our recent form feels like how Arsenal stumbled at the end of last season. Think it's just just growing pains and we'll be stronger for it next season - as Arsenal seem to have matured this season. Will be more than happy with 5th place - hopefully it will come with UCL qualification.
  2. Feel Emery overthinks it when we play the big boys. We surely have the talent to play a lot better than we are.
  3. The full 20M probably comes with a UCL qualification caveat
  4. You get this as your club becomes bigger and gains more “wannabee” fans. It’ll probably happen to us soon enough.
  5. I ordered a bunch of items for my kids and I before visiting Villa Park over the winter holidays. From sizing, to quality of the materials and printing, and just the looks, we were disappointed with half the items we ordered. We needed to return one item as the Villa badge was an oval shaped instead of circular.
  6. Like with Wolves and Portugal, I was worried the Monchi-Emery combo would focus on La Liga/Spanish players. Good to see we are recruiting from everywhere.
  7. Can’t speak to hospitality but the normal food at the Emirates was pretty awful when I was there in December. They had a wide selection but everything was quite poor. For example the pizza was soggy and gourmet sausage was bland. Feel American stadiums/arenas do food much better.
  8. Re: Holte Pub. How do they check if someone is a Lions Club member? I've never received any type of membership card or number even though I have bought tickets via the Lions Club, so I presume I am a member.
  9. The Padded Seat - social media account that do tours of sports hospitality offerings visited the Lower Grounds in a recent video. Seems pretty attractive based on the video.
  10. Noticed that Saudi Arabia National Team also wear Adidas. Wouldn't be surprised if Newcastle's "Elite club" deal actually had some sweeteners for Adidas - like access to the Saudi market and investment from PIF. Unfortunately, state-owned clubs have powerful levers that normal clubs do not.
  11. I like Pete. He offers some unique takes and his production is top notch. But lately his shows seem to be toeing the company line. It’s almost like he is angling for some favors from the club.
  12. The Villa On Tour podcast (an offshoot of the Vlog) with Max Stokes and Simon Lines is quite good. I would recommend it.
  13. He was very good today, but had a bunch of sloppy passes late on.
  14. Don't think "lack of depth" is our issue. It's the lack of cutting edge play. If two of JJ, Diaby, Tielamans and Zaniolo consistantly performed up to their potential, we would be in the title race.
  15. He's our 5th CB. Chill.
  16. We really needed those 3 pts. Shocking VAR. Should have been a comfortable 3-4 goal win for us.
  17. Presuming this is not a hoax letter, the mere fact that such a document is circling around is an indictment on Heck’s leadership.
  18. Perhaps the slow buildup has run its course. Teams seem ready for it and we tend to get stuck in first gear and can’t pickup the pace as a result. The system might pay dividends when you’re the challenger but is not suitable when you’re the protagonist.
  19. We’ve been unlocked. Talented teams press us and quickly counter down the channels. Talentless teams play a low block. Unai needs to evolve our system accordingly.
  20. Harrison's been here since 2019, so have to believe the 9 & 11 year-olds from 5 years back are already in the Villa Academy setup. It will be a failure of our talent identification & recruitment if we sign any player that joined the WBA academy after 2019.
  21. 100%. Lyon fans were laughing to the bank when they heard how much we paid for him. I was told by a reliable source close to the Chicago Fire the fee for Duran was about £5-8m more than they expected. I know we loved those "out of the blue" signings under Purslow and Lange, but they came at a cost.
  22. We've questioned (me included) the likes of Bailey, McGinn, Douglas Luiz. etc. in the past. Diaby will come good. There is clearly a player there. Worst case, Xabi Alonso will buy him once he becomes the next Liverpool manager.
  23. Disagree here. Teams have figured out our slow build up and lack of high press. We need to evolve our system accordingly.
  24. 1v1 comparison is not fair in my opinion. When Bailey came on he was playing on the wing and we were much faster in our play. When Diaby was playing he was more central and we were playing very slow. Id like to see what Diaby can do on the wing with us playing much faster.
  25. Worry a Martin Oneill type collapse is coming. Teams have figured us out and we are impotent in the final third. Diaby as the second striker does not work.
