Some very clever comments in these accounts regarding impact upon transfer fees received. This could be a pre-emotive strike to fend off future questions regarding FFP rules.
All hail our gracious benefactors.
Lots of work involved to get Villa Park to a category 5 stadium. Though I’m not sure NWSE are that bothered about us being a venue, especially when it’s likely there will be 3 Scottish stadiums, the Principality stadium and two Irish stadia,
I think he probably would be from the point of view that top teams are interested. If anything I think signing Bissouma might make it easier to sign top players in the summer, as does Coutinho.
Ellis would have told Bentancur that he invented the bicycle kick, offered him £15k a week and this transfer would have been completed by now. When I say completed I mean he’d have signed Tony Cascarino instead because he’s cheaper and “nearly as good”.
Am absolutely amazed Doug’s plans didn’t involve making the Doug Ellis Stand into a 30k capacity stand for his own gratification.
I wonder if the hold ups in releasing the new plans are linked to recent infrastructure failings, namely the transport issues.
Could be. I suspect this will end with Villa paying him inflated wages on a new deal, which he hasn’t yet earned. RHP earned himself a £10k per week contract all those years ago despite never starting a league game. £10k probably worth £25-30k in todays market.
Could be interesting to see if the calibre of players interested in joining improves with Gerrard here. Would not be surprised to see a hefty spend in January, considering our break even summer.
