  1. great defensively, so solid and wont be bullied. Going forward he's never going to beat his man on the outside using skill and trickery BUT he protects the ball well till he gets support in that position and largely uses the ball well. Big fan of his, keep it up Aly
  2. showed all of his experience to cut across the ball with his header thus causing the swerving, dipping action which outfoxed the unsuspecting goalie. Cant teach those skillz
  3. Shows how broken football is that benteke leaving screwed us up, has screwed his career up (to an extent, with regards to formally going into the euros etc.) And yet it was a move that really had to happen because of money
  4. Sinclair at left back. Used to being parked there most of this season anyway plus rapid enough over the first few yards to keep up with whatever speedy winger arsenal go with
  5. indeed. the writers reckon the characters are getting too old for it to work but i would happily watch them do what are doing for the next ten years. funniest show on tv for me
  6. Watching "Catastrophe!" with the good lady wife at the moment. Hilarious but dear god is some of the dialogue absolutely filthy. Luv it
  7. I think Richardson has become far too much of a scapegoat and has unfairly become the punchline to all discussions Villa. He has had bad games and he has had good games, but under the previous few managers, who hasnt. Benteke, Delph, even, whisper it, Amavi, have all had shockers in the past - and they were in their natural positions. He is the next natural choice for left back and he will be played and we should give him 100% support. He has never lacked in effort and I am curious to see how he performs in a more structured and disciplined team with clear instructions from a proper manager for every scenario during a game - when to push on, when to drop back, who is filling in for him when out of position etc. He is a fairly disciplined guy and player so I think he will respond to this type of management rather than the Sherwood "just go out and play football" crap
  8. he does love a good kamikaze superman leap over the opposition player doesnt he! i think its great
  9. Yep, just read it was 34 out 35 passes completed, the highest from anyone on the pitch. Coupled with Gil having more touches than anyone else once he came on against Spurs last week, would suggest he's going to be such a vital player for us. Im pretty sure that the one pass he did give away to a city player he bolted after it and won it back. Correct me if im wrong (like I have to ask on VT )
  10. And on top of everything else, I really liked the jacket he was wearing on the sideline. Very classy and European. Forget all this football nonsense, where can I buy that jacket?!
  11. ha. Yes thank you, thats the one. Amavi actually looks quite shocked by the brutality he just witnessed!
  12. Great pic on BBC website of Clarke emptying navas (fairly) with that brute of a challenge. You'll have take my word for it though due to my being too much of a techtard to link it
  13. It was intimated in the commentary that Westwood was willing to come on but the physios wouldnt let him. Duty of care and all that. I did initially think that bringing Ayew on for him was an odd sub but it kind of nearly worked out. KM saying that Gabby was only taken off because he had a knock further compounded my view that he aint much of a football manager
  14. Exactly the same happened with me. kinda annoying but if you cant beat em, join em. Now I usually play as Man City. Its actually more enjoyable. I spend too much of my time despairing of Villa players in real life - dont need to be doing it while playing computer games too
  15. well when you have the green and white army taking 20 points out of the pot it leaves less for the minnows to fight over
  16. A real marmite movie that one. I thought it was fantastic (even though some of the Dante symbolism went over my head on the first watch) yet lots of folk I know hated it.
  17. Great game for a 46 year old - (he aint the most fresh faced of characters is he..) Question is, if Adama is fit and healthy for Liverpool, who starts in that outside right/ right wing position? (dont say Gabby)
  18. its very difficult to explain to people exactly why he is so special. He isnt the fastest, doesnt use elaborate stepovers to beat a man, not does he barrel past people with pure force and strength. It is a nearly intangible quality he shows to read what the defender is planning to do and time his touch accordingly. Beautiful to watch and will probably add a longevity to his career that players relying on the more physical proponents of the game wont have
  19. hard to believe that Dwight yorke isn't a full time professional interviewer isn't it
  20. dear lord the tackle that started the whole thing was worse than the headbutt - surprised Savage ever got up from it! But the only thing that I can really criticise Dublin for is that you should never really hit women no matter what the circumstance...
  21. oddly the team looks better in that font
  22. Stand by Me, Kings of Summer and My Girl are all brill and strike me as coming of age movies but maybe I dont really understand the term.
  23. Though to be fair he always got back up again when he got knocked down
