  1. Attempted to watch Tenet last night. Drivel it was, absolute drivel. I made it about ninety minutes and got fed up.
  2. McGinn was ok today but better against Everton. But let us not get carried away, many have expressed reservations about him for a year now. His two recent decent performances and the odd other here and there this season do not justify him at all. I think he has been terribly inconsistent and mostly consistent at putting us under pressure with giving the ball away way too much for a professional footballer. Yes I will give him his due as the last two games he seems to curbed the persistent passing it to the opposition. He still needs replaced for me our midfield is too lightweight and he has been the only constant this season in regard to the problem. One good or decent game in ten is not consistency.
  3. Half-time it was 1-0 and I just knew we'd lose, although I said 5-1. It's a shame as we played OK overall it's just simple mistakes that cost us against teams like Manure. I hope we take note of their game management as it's something we really need to learn from, but they do have some very good players so it is inevitable we would or should lose perhaps. Traore my MOTM, his goal was sublime and I thought he worked hard today. Targett also very good. Still think our midfield is lightweight. But we put them under pressure late on and gave it a go. But this hoodoo they have over us is embarrassing! Lots of play-acting again from Manure but it seems to work for them. Honour, what happened to it? Referee had a bit of brain-f*** at the end there, I thought there was contact from Henderson? I really hate Manure!
  4. Even if we play well and somehow manage to be a goal or two up you know full well they will whine their way to influence the referee and get a couple of dodgy decisions. Just cannot see us beating them considering they are still mathematically in with a chance of winning the league. Finally I imagine the referees will do everything they can to help them from the very start.
  5. I think you're right, I just couldn't see Dirty Leeds taking anything less for him. However I believe we need someone like him and that costs money we've likely never paid before.
  6. That Dorsett fella seems to be talking-down Villa's chances of hosting... He was actually quite patronising and said everything but Villa are in the dark ages and a tin pot outfit...is he a Bluenose or something? F***** Word Removed that he is!
  7. I was three years old, so have no idea. Great to hear some of your memories though. UTV
  8. Manure, the team I dislike most of all apart from Celtic, (Blues are just an annoyance). Manure and their fans, Ferguson the alcoholic, biased media, corrupt officials, European Super League, plastic glory-hunter fans, Dwight Yorke, Ashley Young's dive, Vidic's yellow card when it should have been a red....need I go on?! Please Villa, turn up and give them a game!
  9. Phillips is a good player and he'd be exactly what we need. They wouldn't sell him to us though and it'd be upwards of £60 million.
  10. Perhaps but what is too expensive? I'm firmly of the belief we need to start spending. Many thought the price we paid for Watkins was way too much. Cash was Player of the season for Forest and valued at £16million. How much would Henry be? Surely the Henry wants PL football, will he get it with Brentford? If he doesn't then a couple of PL clubs will be interested, maybe we will be one of them?
  11. This season has been very good in that Villa have progressed and we have given most teams a game; on our day we are a match for any of them! I did hope and got really excited we might get into the 'top six' but alas we are short; however with Jack Grealish fit all season maybe we could have been there still? Anyhow, we need to continue to buy well and hope we can catch a Wet Spam, Everton or perhaps Leicester and then we may get 'top six'. Ancelotti won't be around for much longer as he averages two years at a club, Moyes over-performed too. Next season: I'd be happy with a little more consistency and winning the games we should have won such as Brighton, Newcastle, Sheff. Utd. Top Eight (maybe seventh) would be the least we should aim for, a good cup run and possible a chance at Europe. Villa need to be regularly qualifying for Europe in my view.
  12. Getting a bit worried by this, it's all the conspiracy surrounding Grealish it does my head in. The media desperately want him to play for a 'big six' club so he could be the new Beckham and they are doing everything they can to engineer a move. I don't think he'll be back this season now. In a way i'm both worried and confident by that. People might speculate it's because we already have an agreement in place but on the other hand this 'injury' might put off potential suitors? I think it is the latter and that the injury will scupper any move as Grealish has NEVER played a full season.
  13. Bet you've called a few of them in your time?
  14. Re: Sander Berge, first game of the season I thought he was their best player. Maybe they are poor this season but all things were equal back then and it was a tight game, I also remember he bettered McGinn which is why I noticed him. But since then they obviously lost their way and form plus I think he had some injury problems. Personally I think he would be a good signing and he was regarded as quite a coup for them.
  15. Best game for McGinn against Everton this season but let's be honest we could count the good games he's had this season on one hand. Still think it's all a struggle for him.
  16. I'm pleasantly surprised how quick and tenacious he is, closes down as good as any other forward in the PL. Watkins has been so unlucky, goals disallowed, hitting the woodwork. Just imagine if all those efforts had been given as goals Villa would be comfortably top four. Let's pretend for awhile!
  17. Think it has to be played today or tomorrow due to other match scheduling. Potentially a later kick-off helps us one would hope as Manure play Thursday night.
  18. McNeill is improving every season and is still only 21 he doesn't score enough but he creates chances. Six assists last season and five this season in the Premier League. If they wanted £50 million for Tarkowski I'd imagine they'll want more for McNeill which is why it's unlikely. I think we'll get more value for money elsewhere...
  19. Villa made Everton look pretty average tonight, well done our lads and Dean Smith. Sure I read a statistic they have spent an awful lot of money the last few years only less than the obvious four or five teams. Ollie Watkins has to be MOTM for me, tirelessly worked from the moment the game started and could have easily scored more. Watkins seems to be learning fast, he's holding the ball up quicker, tries to get shots away more and he's being more direct. After that Barkley was much better tonight and his best match for a long time, highest percentage of passes completed for Villa too. El Ghazi played well too in general, tried again and again to take players on and his goal was a thing of beauty. Can't argue with his stats at all. Traore again hot and cold but another assist, he can hurt teams. He shows sublime skill one minute and loses the ball too easily the next, hopefully he pushes on next season. Luiz and McGinn better although the latter nearly dropped us in it again with a terrible pass to the opposition who very nearly capitalised. Cash was effective and good to see him back. Last of all, Dean Smith. Well done, got his tactics right today. UTV.
  20. Rodrigo De Paul is interesting. A good player who could take some pressure off Grealish and I'd be excited to see the two of them rotate their position. As wages are an issue anyone hazard a guess what he might be on at Udinese? Martinez, "Have a word, please"?
  21. Are the teams going to really spend £150 million on a player who won't play more than thirty games per season? I think he seems to be averaging around thirty. I say £150 million as it really has to be at least that surely? I was reminded earlier Burnley held out over Tarkowski and they wanted upwards of £50 million.
  22. Dwight McNeill I like and mentioned him before, would be a great signing for us and he will undoubtedly improve. However Burnley wanted £50 million for Tarkowski so it ain't happening. I would like Abraham back and £40 million seems fair. Watkins, Abraham, Wesley, Davis, Barry.
  23. 10 goals and 5 assists i would say is very good. And the way he played at Villa Park the other night yes I think he's a good shout.
  24. It's great Martinez is showing his skills; the save against WBA where he flicked it over was amazing! But i think our midfield aren't doing enough to protect him and as a result he is having to make too many saves. Statistics show he is fourth in having faced the most shots, he is keeping company with keepers from WBA, Sheff. Utd, Burnley and Dirty Leeds. It's not good really and again it's midfield where the problem lies as Mings and Konsa particularly are blocking shots.
