  1. I think Watkins out right-side would offer more than El Ghazi at the moment. Then play Davis up top. I guess Trezeguet has played himself back into the starting line-up now.
  2. Maybe, he's better suited there. Nakamba is the natural holding player.
  3. Every Villa player when asked: "Who is the strongest player at Villa"? Keinan Davis is the answer. At the end of the season when our players and opposition players are tiring he's a great option to have.
  4. McGinn looks better as a more forward thinking player. He's too lightweight to hold as defensive player. Still gave the ball away too much but he was better. MOTM no way not for the amount of turnovers he gives the opposition.
  5. Great assist from Keinan, totally bullied their defenders when he came on. Looked lively against Spuds too. Good substitutions from Smith today.
  6. Yeah fair enough. However Smith must have absolute faith in the players, he is seeing what they are doing in training and picking the team based on that. If the players continue to underperform then changes will be made to the playing staff in the Summer transfer window.
  7. In eight seasons Grealish has never played a full season for Villa, albeit pretty close last season. Surely he needs to be managed better?
  8. Aston Grealish Think Fulham are favourites now as they have something to play for, Villa have been on the beach for some time now.* 1-3 Fulham. *of course, hope I'm wrong!
  9. Yeah that was my point, there is no way Grealish is their priority.
  10. So if the rumours are true Man City would rotate Grealish and Sterling? Yea right like they'd both settle for that.
  11. I was monitoring some of the comments on social media about this injury... Feel terrible for him and I hope it's just a knock; even if it isn't serious seems he's a long way off. Can we order a 'hit' on Ben Mee please.
  12. They would, it's often been said he is a player who gets caught in possession. I heard this from a few around these parts when we signed him, some even said he'd struggle in the PL. When we got promoted I posed the same question here... From my perspective they've been proven right. We've had over a season and a half of McGinn in the PL, he's had half a dozen or so good games. Yet he continues to flatter some.
  13. Just the five goals and one assist difference.
  14. I thought we would have tried to sign Buendia last summer... Just looking at his stats which are good again this season; overall he has played 228 games, 52 assists, 36 goals. Buendia would add something to the side but he is predominantly a RW, is he better than Traore? Unless we get rid of Trezeguet and have Traore and Buendia fighting it out for a start. Personally I think we should sign a super LW such as Rodrigo De Paul and he and Grealish rotate between them from CAM to LW. Then we also spend big on a super CM* who walks into the team and gives our entire midfield a huge kick up the a*** *And drop the carthorse (McGinn).
  15. Ward-Prowse would be immense at Villa. Think his value is on the up, wonder how much he'd cost?
  16. This thread seems to be going around in circles. Last week Bissouma, McNeil and Saint Maximin were mentioned and I even threw in a Ward-Prowse for good measure. I do and still agree with the rhetoric that we need tried and tested at this level now. It's a punt to hope players like Trez, Wesley and Traore will work out for the fraction of the price. Last season we were in the market for players around £20million. This Summer I think we need to go 'balls out' to sign two players £35-£50million each to be first-team players.
  17. I'd have thought his experience in the PL will have improved him. His aforesaid form after Project Restart was absolutely pivotal in our survival; that won't have gone unnoticed.
  18. Trez seems a great guy and his form after 'Project Restart' helped keep us up but he just isn't going to really improve us much more. Villa should listen to offers for him. Did we pay about £9million? I'd say if we can get £12-15million for him then sell him. His stats in the PL are 53 appearances, 6 goals, 3 assists. He probably should have scored 12 considering he has missed at least 6 great chances.
  19. Yeah, what a player he looked. Could well have been absolutely billiant for us for at least a couple of seasons and that goal against Chelsea is still one of our best in the PL. Must admit when Cavani was available i'd have loved him here, never going to happen of course. But someone of his experience and stature would be immense. Problem is players who have one big move left such as Cavani and Aguero they will be looking for that final big pay day and we are not going to give it.
  20. McGinn doesn't hide, but he's just the same. Too long on the ball and gets caught far too often. Hourihane and McGinn are not good enough for where Villa want to be.
  21. In a way I'd hope we never do business with Bremen as a result under their current owners. Would they get any money for him in the Summer, I thought they were desperate to sell him? How is Raschica's form, anyone know?
  22. McGinn might be good enough as a squad player. Re: Ward-Prowse, someone like him. A player who has been performing well in the PL for a few seasons at a team in and around midtable to the top half. A signing like this shows intent albeit a rather expensive one I agree. Other than that it's a 'hit and hope' signing a la Sanson who needs time to get up and running.
