  1. McGinn gave the ball away at least six times today... Nakamba and Luiz didn't. In any PL game as a midfielder you just cannot be excused for this yet McGinn does it upon average SIX times EVERY game. It's inexcusable.
  2. Better for not having to worry about McGinn next to him. More comfortable with Nakamba next to him.
  3. @Delphinho123 He really isn't, I can name three or four other Villa midfielders who don't give the ball away as much as he. McGinn is killing us with this, invites pressure and inevitably we crack and concede. Six times on average he gives the ball away EVERY game, he's slow and as a result we are lightweight in the middle.
  4. I still like him and doesn't give the ball away six times per game like McGinn.
  5. Ok fair point, I'm emotional perhaps. However we were in a great position and our form against teams around us and below us has really hurt us, hence my emotional outburst!
  6. We've blown it, pity as we seemed to be flying high. If we could have just maintained some form. Teams I feel have thought us out, we are too light in the midfield. Pressure us and we'll give the ball away repeatedly and crack. It was always a step too far though.
  7. We need an all-round midfielder to help us retain possession. Nakamba, Luiz retained the ball well against Plop today but McGinn gives it away six times every game. We invite pressure and eventually crack because of this, it's one of our major flaws.
  8. Thing is it isn't new, I had my doubts the moment we were promoted. He was hot and cold in the Championship. Somebody said his one game in fifteen shouldn't guarantee him a place, neither is averaging giving the ball away six times per game.
  9. Thing is I can see McGinn gave the ball away six times today, he seems to average that every game. Do Villa not have a data analyst to flag this because quite clearly the management seem to think it's acceptable. At this level we cannot continue to give the ball away so cheaply as teams will hurt us and they are doing it. Hound and harass our midfield and they will easily give the ball away, it's happening all the time.
  10. Still has that bit of a skill which we lack. A couple of times he skipped past a few of their players with ease. But yeah he's frustrating.
  11. OK he got an assist... Apart from that's gave the ball away directly to an opponent five times in the first half, four of them were in the first 18 minutes. Needs replaced, our midfield cost us today. We could not keep possession of the ball and the opposition easily play through us. Still think our main signing in the summer needs to be the all-round midfielder. McGinn is a squad player at best he's too slow for the PL.
  12. Had two good chances, fluffed them. He's finished.
  13. Four times in 18 minutes McGinn gives the ball away, the last one could easily have resulted in a goal.
  14. We continue to give them too much time on the ball...how long can we hold on for?
  15. Yet he's given the ball away three times in ten minutes!
  16. I think both could play well together. Abraham/Watkins Watkins/De Paul Grealish Traore/Neto We need to have a fluid set-up, keep the opposition guessing, players who can swap around during the game. If we signed De Paul he and Grealish could rotate between the left or CAM. Not expecting to spend all this on those three players but one can dream!
  17. There is no way we'd buy Neto. Bissouma, Trossard, Olise are more likely...
  18. If Brighton and Fulham both win their games against the Dogheads then they too might be in the relegation equation.
  19. I've only watched Leeds twice this season, but actually I was watching Villa. Surprisingly they are having a good season, they won't be a surprise package next season.
  20. Maybe they decided to get Grealish fit for Liverpool and give him an extra week rest? Be awesome if he's back to play against the Plop.
  21. So presumably they won't have much to spend in the Summer? Bielsa jumps?
  22. Second-half Traore caused them loads of problems and they were doubling-up on him. In the absence of Grealish he is the one who can make something out of nothing. Needs to cut the cross-field passes out.
  23. Love him or loathe him credit where it's due. Trezeguet was absolutely brilliant today and really could have had a hat-trick. Played himself into the starting line-up again as El Ghazi was poor today.
