  1. Good enough to get promoted - Great. Not good enough for the Premier League - We'll cross that hurdle when we get there.
  2. Jennings is woeful, we've got to bring in Stoneman for the next test. Been scoring consistently well for Surrey in the first division, and turns up in big games (Just look at the One Day final). Plus consider that the next game is at his home ground The Oval i can't help think its a no brainer....but fear that they will not make any changes once again.

    Keinan Davis

Another very good performance. Held up the ball well, took on players and looked good in the air. Obviously against poor opponents, but promising signs nonetheless.
  4. Looked the best player (just above Davies and Bree) last night. Exciting to watch and in good shape. Fingers crossed for a big season to come!
  5. Thought he played really well last night. Dribbled past players with ease, overlapped really well and put in a number of dangerous crosses. All very impressive for a player who is apparently crocked. That being said he was hardly tested at all defensively last night which we all know is his biggest weakness
  6. I really couldn't make my mind up about Samba last night watching him in the friendly. He looked super calm and composed when dealing with stuff, but then i also couldn't help feel that was because the guy was reacting/moving so slowly that he couldnt even look alert or frantic if he tried. Will need to see more, against better (and quicker) opposition to know for sure
  7. Whilst i dont think SJ is a super keeper, he's not as bad as some people are making out on here. Importantly too, he already has an understanding and relationship with the defence / team. In my opinion one of the biggest issues we've had in the last few years is the constant revolving door of players being bought and sold making it nigh impossible to actually develop a team who know and can play with each other.
  8. Would be happy to sell him He always tried which is more than i can say for most of our recent players, but ultimately he is not good enough and we now have better options in his position.

    John Terry

It dawned on me yesterday the calibre of player we are signing. This last week i've been so wrapped up in thinking about his character, his wages, his age that i didn't stop to think how good Terry is/was as playing football. Just look at some of his personnel honours from wiki: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Terry#Honours) : Chelsea Player of the Year: 2001, 2006[190] Premier League Player of the Month: January 2005[191] PFA Players' Player of the Year: 2004–05[192] PFA Team of the Year (Premier League): 2003–04, 2004–05, 2005–06, 2014–15 ESM Team of the Year: 2004–05, 2008–09, 2009–10[194] FIFA FIFPro World XI: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009[11] UEFA Club Defender of the Year: 2005, 2008, 2009[195] UEFA Team of the Year: 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009[196] FIFA World Cup All-Star Team: 2006[87] UEFA Ultimate Team of the Year (substitute; published 2015)[197] PFA Team of the Century (1997–2007): 2007[198] This genuinely World Class player is now playing for us and in the championship. Top, Top singing.
  10. It's a new season and i'm an eternal optimist. We are going to win the league.

    John Terry

I think this is a top signing for us. Whilst this brings back bad memories about the Aston Villa Care Home for players past their prime we seemed intent on running in the last few years, in my eyes Terry is at a whole different level. As a footballer he's won it all, captained his team and country, and is generally regarded as one of the best CBs of his generation - very different to signing the likes of Grant Holt and Lescott. His footballing mentality and footballing ability, even if past his prime, is far above the championship - so i see this signing as a real coup. I can understand people's reservations about his character, and i agree - i think he's not a particularly nice guy.....but i really don't care, i just want us to win promotion, and with Terry we have a better chance of that than we do without him.
  12. I've just got into the West Wing recently, watched a few episodes and got hooked instantly. Just finished the final episode of season 2 ('two cathedrals') and i think its one of the greatest episodes of tv i've ever seen. Well worth a watch for anyone who missed out on it the first time around like i did!
  13. What about Alex McCarthy. The young English keeper who looked really good at Reading when they were in the Prem. he's moved around to Palace and Southampton since then but has stayed as a number 2. He looked excellent when he first broke through at Reading, even being touted for an England call up. plus he has championship experience having played with reading and a few loan spells previously too.
  14. Shay Given has been released by Stoke. Anyone take him on free?
  15. The biggest thing this game had going against it is simply the fact it is having to follow on from the first triology - something even a great game would struggle to match Despite that I am enjoying it. The animation, dialogue and mechanics can be quite annoying but in truth im playing this game for the story, the characters and because i loved the previous series. So far its been good, nowhere near the first 3 but that because those characters and story built over time. This game does have me wanting to explore the new galaxy, set up on new world - i feel invested in it. Its a solid start in my opinion and im interested / trust bioware to take it further in dlc and future games.
  16. This is a sensible decision. Uninspiring? Perhaps, but i don't want to be inspired, i want to be promoted. Bruce has done that 4 times in this league (with much worse teams than us). There is no one better qualified for the specific challenge we are facing as of this moment.
  17. Had a long train journey so watched 'Eye in the Sky' and 'Looper' Eye in the Sky - A very gripping film that creates tension and frustration in equal amounts. (Worth noting that the director probably wants us to grow frustrated with the lack of decisions, highlighting what a tough choice it is that no one wants to make etc). You form opinions on the characters, the decisions they make and the outcome of the films. The type of film i want to discuss for hours afterwards (not the film itself, but the situations and decisions its presents). Decent performance by many, though not really sure why they cast Aaron Paul + Ian Glen in such a minor role. Very sad to see Rickman's final role, but one he delivered very well. A solid 8/10 Looper - A film ive been meaning to watch for a while but never got round too. An interesting idea set in a dystopian near future. Well paced with good dialogue and acting, the action was well choreographed too. There were a few plot holes which id expect when taking on such a large range of ideas and there was also a laughable continuity error at one point. An enjoyable film which perhaps takes on a little bit more than it should have: telekinesis and time travel - take one not both! 7/10 For the train ride back ive got The illusionist and the new Macbeth film downloaded!
  18. Whilst defence should be the main feature of an full back, the main reason i want Amavi back is for his crossing ability. Whilst he is very good at dribbling, its was his delivery that stood out for me last season. With Kodja and Gestede up top, he will rack up the assists. Cissokho is solid defensively (most of the time) but whenever he gets the ball in an attacking area i know nothing good will come of it. With Amavi im standing up in anticipation.
  19. This is worthy of an if true. Fingers crossed for this and you VS, ballsy post!
  20. Why is no one mentioning the fact that Dr T is a pirate!?!
  21. Morrison is an odd one. When you consider all the tweets from Tony about the character of player being important and our other signings he doesn't seem to fit. Morrison is alleged to have a bad attitude, hasn't applied himself or taken his numerous opportunities. However i dont think this is completely the case as explained in the below extract from his previous agent Colin Gordon Not a "bad bone in his body", just slightly simple nature and immaturity. It is my belief that under the right environment, surrounded by proper professionals (Elphick, Ross and Jedinak) he will guided and hopefully flourish. But then again im always optimistic so who knows!
  22. The goal against Wednesday was an error, he sliced his kick and it resulted in the goal. Last night he clearly didn't want to do the same, so put his laces through it and a combination of terrible luck and good attacking play resulted in a freak goal. I am not going to blame him for it, instead im going to remember the 2/3 terrific saves he made during the game. If you want to talk about 'costing points', the blame should be laid at our woeful finishing. We should have been comfortably out of sight, but instead we only had the one goal which inadvertently invites pressure and hope for the opposition.
  23. I've not watched a lot of Chester domestically, but have done when he's been playing for Wales. From his debut against the Dutch a few years ago, to our wonder run in the Euros. He's a solid player, who is comfortable on the ball, will never shy away from a challenge or receiving the ball (he's not the type of player who will point aimlessly when a team mate is looking for a pass). As a defender he is more than competent. Strong in the air, doesn't lunge into tackles and has decent positioning/awareness (helped by playing in a back 3 or at RB) I suppose the best way i can pass judgement on him is the fact that ive only ever seen him out of his depth twice. Once against Hazard, and secondly in the summer against Ronaldo....so after 5 years when we are in the Champions League we can be worried, until then, it will be a good signing.
  24. Ideal scenario is that we sign both!
