  1. I would still like to see us sign a quality centre mid. All of ours have had some good games this season but they are still inconsistent. It’s such an important area of the park and if you aren’t at it, you rarely win.
  2. I have honestly never rated Johnston. He doesn’t command his area very well and was prone to the odd clanger. He would also want massive wages. I think we could get a cheaper alternative. I think you need two serious back ups; an experienced keeper and a young up and coming one. By next season hopefully one of our youngsters will be able to fill one of those roles. We just need to get the experienced one too.
  3. On the lash at Chester races today. I am surrounded by Utd fans. Don’t worry boys. I am absolutely filling my boots. UTV
  4. Our record against Utd is even worse than I thought. It really is utterly embarrassing. I’ m backing us to turn it around tomorrow. 1-2 Villa. Ollie at the double plus the usual penalty from them. COYVBs!
  5. Shakespeare said that Archer has come from nowhere. It just goes to show that players develop at their own rate. As others have said he does remind me a bit of Joachim. It will be interesting to see how he develops over the season.
  6. If we got a last minute penalty, like West Spam did against Man U, I could honestly see Dean bringing him on just to take the pen. Unlike Noble he would score it too!
  7. You can see that he is a class player with a class attitude. That’s good enough for me. I’m sure he will come good. His first couple of months have been very disjointed for various reasons. Once he gets a chance to settle, he will be great.
  8. Chelsea win loads of stuff. We don’t.
  9. Stop being so sensitive. Was that our strongest team in your view? Of course not.
  10. No. Not my take away at all. Spin it how you like but you know what I mean! Why didn’t we go with a stronger team?
  11. I’m not sure where to post this because it’s not my intention to have a go at the manager after an excellent effort from a very young inexperienced team but it does annoy me that we don’t take the cups more seriously. I was lucky enough to be at Wembley in 1996 and if you said to me then that we wouldn’t win anything in the next 25 years I would have laughed my head off. Why don’t we try? We don’t play that many matches and we could have afforded to play a stronger team tonight. I wonder how many cups we could have won in the last 25 years had we taken each game seriously?! I want to see us win something again!!!
  12. He is what he is, a league 1 level gk. To expect him to be anything else at this stage of his career is bonkers. We were definitely after a new back up in the summer but for some reason it did not come off. We just need to hope that Emi stays fit.
  13. I would go Steer, Targett, Hause, Axel, Young, Marv, Sanson, Emi2, Bailey, Bert, Ollie.
  14. Our set plays have been utter rubbish for years…….Not any more. I’m not sure who should get the credit but Dean is the boss so I shall give it to him. It’s really great to see. UTV
  15. I watched them last week and they certainly don’t seem to have the same energy levels. I think they have much better players than Sheff U had though and also a much better manager. I suspect that they will be fine. We definitely should be targeting to finish above them though.
  16. They got played off the park by Burnley for 45 minutes last week! Their performances have not been much better than ours. No way can they thrash us at VP. We are much more likely to win 3-0 than they are.
  17. I remember Dean saying that he wanted to talk to him about a new contract (some time ago). I would be surprised if we weren’t in discussions. He starts most weeks and I think he has less than two years to go.
  18. I think we will win this. A comfortable 3-0. Everton have been riding their luck so far and we have a decent record against them recently. A first Bailey goal too just as a cherry on top.
  19. I think you have to go back a long way until you get to a Villa centre half that’s been better for us than Mings. Maybe even as far as Laursen and Mellberg. He does make the odd mistake but in between those he is always excellent. We have lots of players who don’t reach his levels. I hope he is part of Villa for a long time to come.
  20. Mings is a long way down our list of worries. We are lucky to have him and we would be lost without him.
  21. Mings ball was poor but Steer had a really poor starting position, he then stopped instead of committing to the challenge, he failed to make himself big and he got his angles all wrong. He is certainly not absolved of blame. That goal never goes in if Emi is in goal. That’s the difference in having a world class player and a lower championship player in goal.
  22. It really wasn’t. He just played to his level of capability. He is nowhere near a PL keeper which is why he’s never been one. That’s not his fault. We are all limited by our own capability. If you mean that Emi would likely have done better then I agree. Emi would have stood a chance of saving all 3 goals and he almost certainly would have prevented the second one which was the killer blow.
  23. Totally agree with this. It was frustrating yesterday but I really enjoyed the game and the performance. It was our best for some time. If we keep at those levels it will be a good season.
  24. Mings getting loads of stick for the second goal today but Axel was awful for the first. Got it totally wrong from start to finish. Lots more to come from him I’m sure but let himself down there.
  25. I like Steer but he is nowhere near good enough to be our first reserve. Emi saves at least one and maybe two of those goals today.
