  1. Swansea were in promotion form before he joined too. Edit - Just to add, they were 2nd when he joined.
  2. Yes. My brother died a couple weeks ago, and we were offered the opportunity to go see him the morning of, but chose not to as he was in a coma, but we were allowed.
  3. Nah, they'll go out of the CL because that will be when Guardiola decides to whack out the Wingerless 2-2-5-1 he's been cooking up but not actually worked on in training at all. Pep loves to needlessly overcomplicate his formations/tactics in the CL.
  4. Bloody hell, when Southampton explode, they really **** explode!
  5. Absolutely mental challenge, what on earth was he thinking?
  6. As per usual with a lot of this stuff from Leeds fans, all context is ripped out of that first tweet. Is it a dive? Yes, absolutely. But then again, 3 days earlier, we conceded a penalty to the exact same type of incident. Fernandes stood on Konsa, went down, won a penalty. So why wouldn't a player a few days later try the same thing when the precedent has been set? It was a shit attempt by Grealish, and I remember at the time getting annoyed at him for it, but I highly doubt he does that if it wasn't the game immediately following the Fernandes incident.
  7. There was a lot of talk about where would Tottenham fit in their extra games when we had to postpone our game, due to them being in the FA Cup and Europa League and what if they went deep in those tournaments. I don't think they will need to worry about that.
  8. That was poor from all our runners bar Konsa there, why weren't any of them ever onside?
  9. It's really starting to show how much the Covid outbreak affected us, we look nowhere near as fit as we were a month ago.
  10. Here's what Ritchie de Laet had to say about Bruce's training. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/ex-villa-defender-de-laet-criticises-bruces-training-methods/ar-BBZXxpd
  11. I reckon we must've been cursed by Whelan. He scored the equalising goal in that 2-2 draw v Stoke whilst we were at our highest point this century, which triggered our 10-12 game winless streak to miss out on the CL that year, and ultimately sent us spiralling for years to come, only to miss a penalty for us years later at what may have been one of our lowest moments since, which got Bruce sacked and triggered our revival. I think Glenn Whelan may be an ancient deity that we should worship...
  12. Is this strictly true? I'm happy to be corrected (and this may be something for another thread) but I thought that whilst Mussolini was originally a Socialist, by the time he had founded his newspaper and party, he'd denounced orthodox Marxism and deemed it a failure?
  13. Decided to check out Rule 11 as it was "onside according to the rules" and spotted this... Quelle surprise, you can't challenge an opponent from an offside position... Also italicised the bit being used to justify it, but Rodri doesn't receive the ball from Mings, he **** tackles him, so that surely shouldn't apply.
  14. To be fair, I think it's pretty much only English football that doesn't name a squad until the day of the game. Other sports like Rugby and Cricket will annouce a team a day or two before, and there was a bit of pearl-clutching earlier in the season when Bielsa named his squad early - which is something he's done a few times, and gotten articles written about it every time - so I think it's a fairly usual thing outside of English football. Personally, I've always found it weird that teams are announced just an hour before kick off, I really doubt how much it could affect preparation by leaving it so late, it's not like we'd be thrown for a loop not knowing if it will be Silva or Mahrez starting tomorrow for example.
  15. Apparently it's a bit of an elephant in the room that he's been nowhere near as good since they moved to a back four and Nuno up until now has avoided the awkward situation of dropping his captain.
  16. Another Academy player going out on loan. I did wonder whether the Liverpool game would put a few of them in the shop window for lower league sides, I assume that game gave a few teams the confidence that they could perform at the senior level.
  17. Was unsure who I wanted to win this game, but seeing Wolves fans crying on social media is much more fun than the Baggies getting more depressed.
  18. So, here's a long thread from a few months ago about how that guy got kicked out of a load of "leftist"/protest groups. TL:DR - The guy got kicked out of a load of left wing groups (some advised a "complete and total, national lockout" of him from all left wing groups) because he was suspected of being an infiltrator to stir shit up and had loads of ties to the far right/Proud Boys. What was that about projection?
  19. Can't have Manager of the Month curse if you don't play any games the next month.
