  1. Rumour is they weren't too keen initially anyway, and were also led to believe it was just a negotiation tactic, so I think the reaction has made them lose their nerve.
  2. There's a livestream from Stamford Bridge here if anyone's interested - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvnieFO2sho Apologies if posted already.
  3. That's what pissed me off with his comments, he was almost deliberately misconstruing some of those things so he could pretend they were an attack on him and the players, not the owners.
  4. One bit I like in there is that 44% of Big 6 fans want their own club kicked out the league, that's one hell of a feat!
  5. And if you do, it will be once every 5 years or so to keep you happy, but not often enough that you might regularly win it.
  6. There's been an undercurrent of that for a while now, it's just that some were willing to ignore everything whilst they were doing well, but how shit they've been this year has forced it back in to focus.
  7. The past 24 hours have basically been that Clickhole article "The worst person you know just made a great point" on repeat, but it's good to know there's a floor and Holloway is still a tool.
  8. Presumably that perception is because it's the language spoken in Hong Kong and Macau, so in Europe Cantonese was assumed to be more widely spoken than it was. Plus I think there's a lot of similarities between the Chinese languages, so maybe to an untrained ear Cantonese and Mandarin were assumed to be essentially the same? This is guesswork really though, as I also didn't realise Cantonese was only spoken in a small portion of the country. (I say only, looking it up, it's about 80 million people that speak it)
  9. I'd start supporting Rugby a lot more (even though that's going a similar direction), Villa can get **** if they ever had the opportunity and decided to join.
  10. Which is funny as you could probably blame this happening on him suing one of Utd's shareholders over a horse, which let the Glazers buy the club when that shareholder wanted out.
  11. Depends, if results against those clubs are taken away, then it's between us and Everton, as Leeds jump into third
  12. The problem is that if this doesn't get stopped, they'll have to join if they want to keep their current status/income levels, as the Champions League revenue will dry up. The Dortmund CEO has already said that whilst they oppose it, they'll join if it becomes a reality.
  13. Three other clubs will be PSG, Bayern and Dortmund, as they'll be the permanent members, and then 5 invitation teams each season.
  14. What I don't get about this statement from the ECA is that the proposed changes to the Champions League were to appease those clubs, and they've turned around and **** off because it's not enough, so why continue to support the changes?
  15. Typically players only make the switch at the end of their contract these days, so as far as I'm aware, there's not much friction around it. Although I think Sonny Bill Williams caused a mess by switching to Union about 18 months into a 5-year contract, and Toulon ended up paying a transfer fee which was essentially buying out his contract (similar to Neymar to PSG in a way), but that was over 10 years ago. He was banned from the NRL as well. Bear in mind though, it used to be that most players switched from Union to League, as League was professional and Union wasn't, so it was a way for the best players to get paid and they didn't have to break any contracts to do so.
  16. Presumably they've been told to shut up for a while so that can't say anything that can **** up the positive momentum they have from the vaccinations
  17. All parties do it, it's a pretty standard way to try to build a campaigns internet presence.
  18. It's also on VillaTV for £1.99, with the fee going to the AVFC Foundation.
  19. Haha love it. Didn't even realise it's taking the piss out of Trump too until I read the comments.
  20. I seem to remember seeing Mailiband saying that he wished he'd been a bit more left wing and radical in 2015, instead of the tepid, uninspiring leader he ended up portraying. Can you imagine the horror? Being at the start of a second term, still in the EU, and being mildly embarrased on the world stage by the occasional photo of him looking a bit weird whilst eating...
  21. 2-0 already! Lovely goal that, great build up play.
  22. There's a CGP Grey Video on YouTube that explains it pretty well. It makes sense when you think about it though. On average the closest body in the Solar System for each planet will be the Sun, as it doesn't move relative to the planets whilst other planets will spend time on the other side of the Sun, so it stands to reason that the closest planet to each planet, is the closest planet to the Sun.
  23. Funnily enough. when one of our players gets injured, my first thought isn't "I wish that happened to someone else", it's usually "That's shit, wish that didn't happen", and just because you lampshade it, doesn't make the point less valid and your arbitrary choice a sensible question.
  24. No need to read the story online when Phil's face was plastered on every screen in the country.
