    Pre match all the tourist fans were giving it large, little old Villa were lambs to the slaughter apparently. Post match walking past the Bill Nicholson pub an idiot Spurs fan thought it would be funny to lob his pint at a group of us as we walked back to our cars. He hit a copper standing in the road. Summed up their teams performance.

    The JG that played for us yes I agree. He was a maverick that could change a game in an instant. It’s a shame that Pep has turned him into a robot and coached that free spirit out of him.

    Have we? I’ve been watching Villa for over 50 years and he's in the same category as God and Sid for me in terms of ability. I hope we have another Jack on the conveyor belt but I very much doubt we have unfortunately.

    Had a drunken conversation with him at The Reading Festival a couple of days after we beat Everton at VP. I was drunk, he was sober by the way! Seemed genuinely chuffed to be recognised and happily chatted about Villa whilst queuing for a beer.

    Slightly off topic but a mate of mine was on the same table at a black tie event as Souness when he was the Toon manager. Apparently Souness spent the evening moaning about the huge amounts of money young players get, their social media activity even back then and how difficult it was to manage players that had agents and influencers whispering in their ears. He came across as a bitter ex pro who was jealous of the money in the game. Another dinosaur that gets too much air time on tv and radio.
