It’s just a compound verb, one of many in English that means you don’t have to write 6 when 2 do job.

It sounds more like you have an issue with the definition of ‘over’ meaning ‘higher or more than’. If you overachieve, you’re doing more than achieving. If you overestimate, you’ve estimated more than necessary. If you underspend, you’ve spent less than you needed to. It’s relative.

I really don’t get how there’s any issue with it!

I hope you don’t ever see what Gen Z are doing with English, frfr ong no cap.

You’re expected to get B C C in your A levels to get into your chosen Uni. It would be an achievement to get B C C. Wow! You got A A B! You really overachieved! You did more than was expected!

(none of these A levels were English Language)
