I like the pseudo-Frampton best, then the Eric Johnson, pseudo-EVH least. None of them as good as Page's.

By the end of the Eric Johnson one, I liked that the best. EVH one doesn’t work with the song, really. Frampton style was good.

Just an adjunct to the 'Deadpool' thread and the great Spencer Davis. The first band I ever played in supported them at a club in Walsall (The Casino Club I think). This would have been about 1963/4 . They were brilliant(of course) and we were surprised to see that Steve Winwood was about 17  and white; on their record of that time (Dimples) you would have sworn he was black. My point is that their kit was lower end and unremarkable . Pete York had Premier drums, all the other 3 had 'Harmony' guitars with Winwood having the 3 pick-up model - Harmony Meteor I believe. The pick up on Muff Winwood's bass was held on with tape. That was a 'proper' band who achieved success through musicianship - unlike today.

Any of you guitarists out there considering buying a Spark amp? They're getting great reviews, and for under £200 I'm tempted. Not really bothered with the 'auto jamming' gimmick, it's the impressive range of amp and cab modelling in what is a compact 40w practice combo that intrigues me. Only seems to lack a proper line out.

Another review.

Got handed a free lesson today along the lines of the old carpenter / tools story.

I took a guitar to the local shop because for the life of me I couldn’t tune it up. I handed it over and asked for a set of strings and to see if he could lower the action and cure a slightly warped looking neck, but just to see first off, if it was actually worth investing any more money in. It was never a great guitar, just a cheapo electric.

Anyway, a couple of hours later I go back and he’s really really playing some sort of rock solo on a guitar with his back to me. Clearly he knows how to get a sound out of a guitar, even if it wasn’t my taste, it was impressive.

He finished up, unplugged it, and handed it to me! There you go, it’s fine now!

Yep. Always worth getting a setup from a good guitar tech. I do feel a bit guilty that I make no attempt to do my own guitar maintenance, but I'm just scared I'd **** things up, so I leave it to the professionals.

Reminds me of my only experience of being offered something heavier than a bit o' weed, some years ago the wife and I were invited to crash round someone's house after we'd hauled ourselves up to Leeds for a tiny all-day "festival" in Hyde Park that their band happened to be playing in.  We were all sat having a lovely natter in their living room when they offered us some coke, and my genuine response was along the lines of "if you've got diet I'll have a glass please".

I've suddenly become obsessed with Fleetwood Mac.

They were always 'just another band' with some decent songs until 2 days ago.

Now I'm reading, listening to and watching everything about them.

Anyway, as this is the Musician's thread, here's the bass I got at the start of lockdown to replace my crappy old non-descript 5 string.

It's a Musicman Sub Ray. It's the cheap version of a Stingray which I've always liked the look of. It feels and sounds ace. This is me playing Rio on it. I hadn't long learnt it so be kind.

Nice. Although after the first part of your post, I was kind of expecting "The Chain". Or is the the proper (P Green) Fleetwood Mac that you're into?
