RunRickyRun
the toronto maple leafs just issued the following statement to supporters apologising for their performance this season. it'd be the decent thing if villa could follow suit, accepting that performances on the pitch haven't been good enough and promising to do whatever it takes to get us back on track however i cant see that happening any time soon Like the letter pornodwarf wrote to the West Ham fans a few years ago 'drawing a line in the sand'? pacbuddies
I drove for a mile or so behind Doug Ellis's Rolls Royce just after the Stoke game. I was contemplating ramming him up the arse end for selling our club to a useless, ignorant and uncaring Yank.

Most would welcome it, because it'd be a long time coming.
P3te
Best thing about it tho if lerner came out apologising, then ppl would moan its PR the club talks - its PR the club doesnt talk - Theyre alienating the fans of course its pr. its the very definition of pr, but since when does that make it a bad thing? it's only bad if it's lies and misrepresentation. coming out and saying "yeah, we've been shit. it's unacceptable and we're going to do everything we can with the resources available to ensure this never happens again" i think fans would be happy enough that the club are finally standing up and taking responsibility, and being brave enough to admit that serious mistakes have been made saying nothing just suggests that the club is fine with how things have gone. we might be, this might all fit in with a bigger plan as i mentioned in another thread. minimise expenditure, keep the club in the premiership, bring in reasonably paid hard workers and establish an 8-12th position again before letting mcleish's contract run out and replacing him with someone more adventurous and with more attacking nous to build on the groundwork that's there. im not saying that's what'll happen if we keep mcleish for another 2 years, nor am i saying that i want to keep him for another 2 years, but if that's the plan then it's a reasonable one. let mcleish do what he can on **** all money, build up the coffers, make the team tough to beat on lower wages, then let someone else use the money we've put back in the bank to capitalise

Have any of those clubs paid £12 million in compensation to managers in the last 2 years? Have any of those clubs seen a drop in attendances like ours recently? Have any of those clubs appointed a manager that hundreds of fans protested about before it happened? The shambolic way our club is run is like no other at the moment. So comparing our situation to most well run clubs is pointless. We are a mess mainly because of our owner.

Chelsea have not paid millions of pounds in compensation to managers over the last couple of years, nor have they dropped like a rock. get a **** grip. What makes you think they have a plan? If you want to ensure Premiership survival why employ someone who has failed to do so 2 out of the 3 times he has tried previously? Would it not have been better to choose a Alan Curbishley, now he has a record of keeping clubs up? The wage bill would have come down naturally anyway through contracts running down? All that AM has done is used a couple of the high earners that GH alienated last year i.e. Ireland and Warnock which most sane managers would have done? He also added a crocked Jenas to the bill for this year? I cannot think of one positive thing about AM other than he's not Houllier or Hilter? It would be nice to hear an honest statement from the club like the Leaf's have done but I fear any statement our club release is going to be along the lines of what a wonderful job AM is doing in difficult circumstances? I.e. complete and utter bullshit!!
Big_John_10
While Chelsea have paid millions in compensation they are hardly a good comparison. Their owner listened to their fans and refused to accept a manager underpeforming. That's a clear message to the fans. As for dropping like a stone, they've improved since sacking the manager and are in the champions league semi final and the FA cup final while back in with a chance for 4th. That's dropping like a stone? Our owner though is happy to allow a man who is in charge of our worst prem season ever to continue in his job.
