Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre has today released the following statement.

"We are extremely disappointed Luis Suarez did not shake hands with Patrice Evra before yesterday's game. The player had told us beforehand that he would, but then chose not to do so.

"He was wrong to mislead us and wrong not to offer his hand to Patrice Evra. He has not only let himself down, but also Kenny Dalglish, his teammates and the Club. It has been made absolutely clear to Luis Suarez that his behaviour was not acceptable.

"Luis Suarez has now apologised for his actions which was the right thing to do. However, all of us have a duty to behave in a responsible manner and we hope that he now understands what is expected of anyone representing Liverpool Football Club."

What a load of bollocks, I doubt he said any of that it's a PR move by the club to limit the damage. Meaningless, too little too late.

This.

And I fully expect Suarez to whine for a move to Madrid in the summer now that he's been made to look like a tit.

I said we needed more from Liverpool on this, and we've just got it. Oh wait.

wow the continued illusion and delusion going on on RAWK is staggering, Plop fans going on about how the club has betrayed them, that it's just a PR stunt, that Suarez has nothing to apologise for and that Evra dropped his hand (again and again and again....) hilarious.

RAWK is amazing at the moment. I'm getting the popcorn out as we speak.

why do the liverpool fans love suarez so much, he is their best player but not world class IMO, he is a gobshite who has racially abused a player and has a lot of previous for bad antics

yet they still defend him against anything, even their own club (read comments that he should move to a better club who will not betray him!)

if we had messi in our team and he did the things that suarez has done id want shot of him ASAP

He point refused to blame suarez, said there was nothing wrong with not shaking hands that hand shaking isn't needed before the game that the fa were wrong to find suarez guilty that the panel haven't proven their quailifications before finding him guilty and that racism is bigger than throwing the book at individual players

he followed this by going off on one about what is race? Giving a lecture on the history of racism, claiming that there is no science behind racism just an ideal, he questioned what cameron was trying to do, said that people are no different from the 80s but now they are just restrained and he wanted to change that, questioned where all the black managers were

basically he said suarez had done nothing wrong but then blasted everything anyone is doing about racism

He also heavily criticised evra because he couldn't see what offended him and he was making a mountain out of a molehill, said it was ok for Liverpool to stand by him because utd have stood by Rooney before and asked why utd fans are allowed to call gerrard a scouse bastard

What a joke, it's a little too late when you're trying to smooth things over with good PR. King Kenny gets away without any scrutiny from the board. Disgusting club and fans.

disagree after his statement today I think the Liverpool board have told Kenny in no uncertain terms their opinion on the situation. Wouldnt be surprised if after all this he is shoved/jumps on summer

This will be the same John Barnes who is the only black player ever signed by Dalgleish.

The same John Barnes who despite being an absolute failure of a manager at Celtic and Tranmere but claims that racism in the game stands in his way when it comes to manager vacancies.

This will be the same John Barnes pictured below kicking away a banana thrown at him in his early days as a Liverpool player....

hmmm

And none is due here.

I agree it's far too little too late. But I'm pleased that for once Liverpool FC have attempted to get a grip on the situation.

Which does lead me to wonder how much the ownership/board have been led by KK(K) though this whole debacle? Maybe they should have grew a pair a long time ago though it does appear they have finally said enough is enough.
