Las Vegas - MGM Grand

As the final leg of my travels, will be heading to LV, hopefully have a bit of money left (not too much of a gambler but you've got to have a go in Vegas). The thought of these buffets is making me hungry now, god knows what i'll be like there.

Going to try out one of the rides on stratosphere (the one that goes sticks out over the edge). Anyone been on it?

I went to imperial palace for their buffet, made the mistake of using logic and thinking they'd have some awesome Chinese thing on the go, it was horrific, only bad meal I had all week, and the food was one one of my favourite things about Vegas , didn't go anywhere particularly posh or expensive and had a lot of steak but everything was really good, couldn't do another buffet after that though

From memory I know I went to rainbow cafe, serendipity, an Italian in the golden nugget, some blues bar in Mandalay bay, I've never eaten so much steak in my life, probably same prices as here just everything was bigger, the waiter in the Italian thought it was mind blowing that I was from Worcestershire, the home of the sauce....

Also the bakery / patisserie in the ballagio, mind blowingly good

I love the way they think it isn't a real place... However, did you have to tell them how to say it properly and they still didn't believe you?

Did all the rides at the stratosphere and unlike most rides I've been on I will never go on them again.  They aren't fun, it's just pure fear for the two that hang you over the side.  I didn't enjoy it I just sat there praying for it be over.

The steakhouse I went to said they were the only licensed place in vegas to sell official Kobe beef? Has anyone ever tried it?  It was $160 for a 4 oz steak and for each additional oz i think it was another $60.  Surely no beef can taste that good to warrant that amount of money!!

my lad ( would have been about 7 at the time) wanted to do the bungee jump down it but he wasn't old enough if I recall ..but that may have  been the excuse Mummy gave him as the thought of him jumping off the building terrified her :)

Yeah wagyu beef is meant to be the best in the world, they massage the cows, give them beer, all kinds of shit to make them happy and produce better quality meat, it has as amazing marble effect to it, not sure what that does the taste but you can that it's different from you average

I think they serve it rare or blue though

Every casino has a buffet of some sort. Bellagio is good, MGM isn't great, Monte Carlo is shocking. Didn't bother with any others but Im sure Aria/Wynn are solid.

I wouldn't even go to one, they have such good restaurants and the size of the meals is a lot bigger in general so I dont see the need. Find a nice place to have a good steak or something.

Mirage actually has a good few places to eat inside, Gordon Ramsey has his restaurants dotted around the city too. Make sure you hit Earl of Sandwich in Planet Hollywood. Pizza at Wolfgang Puck was the best I have ever had, must have had about 20 of them.

Man I miss Vegas :(

my mate is 50 next year and I'm trying to convince him he really wants to go to Vegas for it

He said he went there as part of his honeymoon and didn't enjoy it

he wasn't too impressed with my reply of " yeah , but you went with your wife  , this time it would be fun "

You can't go with your family/wife and get the most out of Vegas IMO. Just like you wouldn't take them to Zante! Maybe slightly OTT but you see the point.

My friend went with his girlfriend, its not the same. If you want to enjoy yourself gambling, going out, drinking round the pools/casinos all day you need to do it with the boys.

Vegas is the best place on earth, there is nothing like it.

Hmmm, been to Vegas and Zakynthos with my wife, multiple times and had the best time at each. Enjoyed myself gambling, going out, drinking all day.

That said, I dont mind admitting, and yes I can guess it will bring an element of ridicule, but there isnt anyone on this earth I would rather spend time with, she is my best mate, we have known each other since kids and were friends before we were a couple. I would choose a holiday with her over a holiday with mates, 100 times out of a hundred. That said she isnt too enamoured with Vegas these days so its Nashville next year.

I'm booked to go back on October 9th for four nights.

Has anyone been to the Heart Attack Grill? We get a late flight home so we want somewhere to have a huge feast of unhealthy food on our final day.

Yeah I've been there ... It's everything you'd expect really cheese and bacon burgers dribbling with fat .... Heaven in a bun

I had one of the 100% fat milkshakes as well , pretty much a tub of butter with some sugar and flavour added to it

Didn't check out the "fat bastard" wine though

Not long got back from Vegas for the second time (greedy, eh?). Place is as nuts as ever. Stayed at the Bellagio this time. Would recommend Blue Man Group at the Monte Carlo for a show and Helicopter to the Grand Canyon as an excursion. Oh, and I won $500 on the slots one morning. :)

My second visit is fast approaching at the end of this month. We are also staying at the Bellagio. I got some free tickets to watch O from the lighting booth, it will be different! We did the Canyon first time around and it is something I will never forget.

Cant wait!!!
